Fun fact:
John Wolford is exactly 1 year younger than Jared Goff
Their birthdays are 2 days apart, 10/16/95 & 10/14/94

If he hits the first pass to Brown its a TD and maybe a different game. Ellard getting his ribs broke on first punt return didnt help.

The slant to Brown was there the whole game, missed it a few times. IMO, I might have gone to Kemp and tried to roll him out against Chicago, but regardless, the Bear defense was special, but that year with Kevin Greene (Bless his sole) and Mike Wilcher, so was the Rams defense under DC Fritz Shurmur.

Again that's great and I agree he's not the best when things go to shit but aside from Kupp and Woods who aren't deep threat guys who is going to change the coverage with speed and big play ability? That's what we're missing and needs to be drafted or signed in free agency.

i think what they are saying is taht when the plays get extended the coverage is going to lose people... not neccesarily that anything designed is going to lead to a bomb.

watching wolfords highlights - he does like to turn it lose down the field. I expect that we will see him slinging some downfield.

Let's just hope they aren't turnovers.

Lets not forget y'all, at the end of the day, this is Wolford's first start, and in a must win scenario to get in the Playoffs.

He's a backup for a reason, and not a starter for now.

Not every backup comes in and is a miracle or some unbelievable story as much as I hope and wish.

There's a legit chance he comes out and plays bad, turns it over a few times. After all, he's going against starters and not backups and this is the NFL not the AAF or whatever.

He's certainly intriguing because he has they temporary new car smell. I'd be a lot more excited for him if this wasn't a win and in Week 17 matchup.

With that said, he certainly is as I said intriguing but I'm being VERY cautiously hopeful.

I'm also cautiously optimistic, but like others have pointed out, Wolford is a wild card that opponents won't have a lot of tape on. With Goff, defenses started taking away the short passes. I just hope McVay uses this to his advantage and adds some new wrinkles to the playbook that make use of Wolford's mobility

One thing that it's important to remember is that MCVAY doesn't tell Goff where to go with the ball. Goff has a read order and it's HIS job to dish it. The fact that he often settles for short yarders is more about the QB and the protections than it is the head coach or OC.

So re: Wolford going into a shell... I'll bet you that will not happen. Why not? Because he's going to get through the reads. He's fresh and won't be thinking self preservation. He'll be playing with his dick out.

We will soon see if McVey can turn water into wine. If we can score 25 points (no matter how they come, a defensive or special teams score is well over due) + stick to running on 2 of every 3 attempts (with more jet sweeps!) then we win provided Wolf executes and uses his legs when ever he is uncertain

Our QB for Sunday is a Wolf is Rams' clothing...

There's something kinda fairy tale about that.

Well, he has the ability to run and supposedly is a cerebral player, well, when you're a short QB I guess you have to be smart. Let's hope he's more Drew Brees and less Pat Haden.

I dunno why, but I have a really good feeling about him and his play this Sunday.

And I'd rather have hope than sit and stew, because that don't help nobody...

Same. I'm really looking forward to the game.
Would love to see the young man ball out, and play with no fear.

I think he has a 2-3 game window to shock some teams before everyone gets enough film on him. After that? we'll see. He could be like an Austin Davis who started strong and played well for a few weeks before the league caught on, or closer to (hopefully) Kurt Warner and have legit skills.. I won't be shocked one bit if JG is done for the remainder of this season. I know they're optimistic but that injury is normally a 4+ week recovery to the throwing hand thumb.

With our defense, and the possibility of Murray being limited or even out, we might have a good chance.
