I don't hate Sloman, nor do I want to bash him.
I do get the feeling he might cost us a "W" in an important game down the road. Hope I'm very wrong.

It is fair to say the dude needs time to prove himself. A miss here and there by a rook is certainly no big deal, expecting anything else is unrealistic. He hits a straight ball that gets up and through nicely, without all that torque GZ's kicks had.

But I think it's also fair to question if he's got enough leg. And by extension what is his range. We'll see.

Watch the Giants kicker, a real pro. He kicks 50 yarders that get up really quick and straight with little effort.
Our guy, well, he worries me to say the least.
Hope T Rex does not have to tackle anyone let alone make a 56 yard kick to get us in the playoffs.

Rams could have lined up for a 50 yarder today. Did they go for it? Nope!

Sloman is garbage. Probably wouldn't make it in the XFL. Why he's on the Rams, a top tier echelon football team...makes no sense!

He beat out the other camp legs, right?

He doesn’t look great right now granted. That said, who is this all-pro on the street who is waiting patiently to replace him?

Like everyone, I hope he comes good in pressure situations i.e. replicates what he did to win the job when it mattered

The extra points are a concern but the kick he missed, into a strong and swirling head wind, against the Bills was on McVey (who clearly believes he has the leg). It was pretty close considering

They played for field position in order to stop Washington getting back in the game. Agreed?

We should have drafted Blankenship as anyone who has watched college football last few years knows he was money. He leads the league in scoring. Big miss on our part. Sloman scares me on every kick. He has to go.

Look. We didn’t draft Kurt Rambis, so let it go.

What next, a freaking Bobby Wagner zombie thread? This year may shape up as one of the greatest seasons to watch our beloved Rams and y’all bitching about the kicker???

Some folks just can’t be happy. Sheesh.

Nope he only got the job because of the college he went to or because McVay made a mistake or because Bonemago is an idiot. Just read through the thread :D

You sure? I thought he only got the job because Kroenke picked him in the draft.

You guys are on a roll here. The pro-Sloman comments are dripping with excess sugar and snide remarks though.

Thus far, the anti Sloman crowd is winning this debate based on mature thought and content.

please continue. Its a long season.

Yeah that comment about alma mater's is some serious thought and content. Most everybody seems to want to give the rookie time, like with rookies at other positions. Some seem to not be willing to do that or just have an axe to grind, maybe they went to Miami of Ohio's main rival?

Sloman's a rookie kicker. It takes time for kickers to be great, unless their name is Justin Tucker - and there's only one Justin Tucker in the league. Zuerlein may have broken records in his first year, but after a hot start, he significantly cooled off. Will Lutz of the Saints wasn't that good in his first year.

Look, I get that missing extra points sucks. But every kicker - yes, even Tucker - has missed extra points. Sloman was picked because he had the leg for kickoffs (unlike Blankenship) and because he improved every year in college.

I'm not saying he's the answer. I'm just saying that we should give the kid a chance before we throw the baby out with the bathwater.
