I'm confused here. Why would we mortgage the future on Mariota? Mariota is like Gardner Minshew. He would be a low-cost option in case Goff doesn't step his game up. Watson is the guy on which you mortgage the future.

Mariotta looked good off the bench, but it didn't take long for him to revert to form.

In short spurts, Mariotta can be a really good #2, but he's just not a #1.

And slowly it feels like we are becoming the shit Rams again...

I hate this feeling. Snead and McVay better have a real plan in place. If we're going to rid a winning QB. They better be right in the alternative route they choose.

I have enough faith for both of us.

Watson's coming and you and many others are gonna HATE the price. Some will flinch and others will want to burn the place down. It's gonna be CRAZY. And we're gonna pay it. And he'll be worth it.

We're absolutely not gonna be the shit Rams again.

Hope you're right. Truly....

Just doesn't feel right to give up on Goff yet. Acquiring Watson would give me some hope. I think overall he's overrated with this top 5 QB stuff without really proving much. But I understand the talent and upside he brings.

But if we rid Goff for picks and say Wolford. Well if I ever saw McVay in person there would be funk on site. Real talk. But I know they're smarter than that.

I'm with you. If they ditch Goff for Wolford (and I really like both of them), I'd be beyond upset.

I don't think that happens.

I don't see why it matters honestly. It should not affect your analysis of the player at all IMO. It's the way clickbait/ESPN types think not football people.
Ok, so Goff performance in the SB shouldnt be held against him? Got it

Yeah, because Watson did great before playing on a team gutted of picks & talent. Can't wait to watch him take snaps from Brian Allen.

Ive thought about it-what if the Rams/Snead are trying to get Goff and his agent to rework his contract by acting in this manner?? Basically Goffs trade value plummets-no takers with his current deal-and then Goff works hard in the off-season and he has a nice season next year with a more affordable contract. Win-win- Rams keep a young promising 26 year old starting QB on a friendly manageable contract. Or Goff reworks the contract he has a terrible year and the Rams can dump him. Or Goff and his agent can say no to a rework and next year is a complete shitshow
Or you know .. instead of going to Jared and saying
“We failed you a little bit but letting stuff around you decline.. if you rework your contract a little well make a promise to upgrade the o line get you a deep weapon and we make another run .... and while we are it we will support you in the media you have our 100% backing “

I mean I’m no football head coach but I do know if you need/want something .. it’s better to make nice then shit over the person you want something from

I think you keep trying to find an answer that works for your end game no matter what. Swap Stafford and Goff - Goff is the Lions QB in 2018.......what does he and the Lions look like?
So using actual stats, outcomes of games, and team achievements for each is somehow reaching, but creating a hypothetical swap of players is some how cementing your argument?

Why the salt?

I'm not making the trade. I'm just talking about it.

And it's happening. I'll bet all my ROD bucks on it.

I still expect Snead and the FO to do everything they can to bolster the OL and address all our other needs as well.

Geez, you'd think we had John Shaw and Jay Zygmunt in charge right now... we don't even as the flashbacks haunt us all...

Begging to play after he was called out by the head coach and the narrative already changed. It also doesn't mean he had been preparing up to McVay's standards, watching film, etc. doing all the things necessary to improve his game. Because that counts as passion and desire. Passion and desire to be great.

He's been tough his whole career so I don't think its fair to knock him for that, but I will never forget him sliding a yard short of the 1st down this season with the game on the line. Whether or not he came back with a hurt thumb in the playoffs, that play is indelible.
You mean like when wolfie dived headfirst and done knocked himself out the game .. I say that’s a smart move

.

Fuck me, the knives are out for Goff. Have been all year but intensifying by the day.

All these shit qbs people prefer more than him.

If they trade Goff away and don't get Watson in return I'm gonna be pissed.

Smart or not, when the game is on the line you do what's necessary to win. Some people are elite competitors and some are not. But that doesn't mean hes not tough because Goff has shown he is.

I dunno. There's something else going on.

I agree if it's just what we've seen on the surface that McVay and Snead are acting rash and foolishly. And while aggressive, that's not who they've ever been and why would it be now and with the most important position on the team?

That makes no sense.

So unless we really feel that McVay and Snead are so unprofessional and petty and short-sighted that they are disrespecting the most important position on the team with no plan beyond a QB competition with Wolford... it's gotta be something else.

It doesn't fit the pattern for them. At all.

We have 4 years of behavior patterns to work with.

I suppose there's a chance that's what it is, but I just cannot reconcile that with everything else we know about them. I can't just flush 4 years of knowledge for one incomplete transaction that bewilders us.

I guess I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt until this all shakes out.

The diving head first wasn't smart, but I will go to my grave saying that Adams threw that shoulder into Wolford's head trying to deliver a blow.

If Tom Brady made such an error in judgment and Adams had hit him? He'd have been ejected on the spot.

So no, man, not gonna do that.

And really, why all the salt? If you don't like the topic or disagree, that's fine, but for real, what are you doing?

The game when wolfie wasn’t exactly on the line at that point

And I’ve lost count of the times people have said “live to play another down “

I agree Adams was absolutely head hunting ... but if wolfie doesn’t dive and slides instead he doesn’t get hurt and stays in the game

No salt on this end ... I just like to
Point out the double standards that get thrown around
