No way the NFL PR machine gets out of this mess. The owners now must save themselves and their money-making machine.

Goodhell is out.
Kraft is out. (Team will be sold)
Patriot F.O. is out.
Patriots Coaching staff is out.

And Mike Martz is now even a bigger Hero to me.

Just one huge looming question remains... Who at Disney (ESPN's owner) green-lit this story, and why?

Not likely.

Reason 5000393737 why I'll never believe that sociopath Brady should be considered a top QB. Too much we don't know about what exact info they had on teams D alignments, plays, etc.

Plus that 5 minute pocket he gets because he plays shit teams.

Fuck that prick. Screw Bellyfat.

I dearly want that organization nuked.

If we were taking about an NCAA program with these aligations, they'd be getting the death penalty or severely reduced scholarships for 10 or more years.

To add....

Long over due for that congressional hearing we are.

Is ole Alren Spectre free? Time for a federal investigation into that organization because the NFL is clearly too incompetent to handle it themselves.

Does anyone else think the timing is just too good for this to not have been the NFL? The Patriots challenged their authority and won...so the NFL released the dirty laundry.

I don't think Goodell or the powers that be did it directly.

I do think that some people who knew what had happened before but kept quiet because of agreements between the NFL and the Patriots decided that if the Patriots were getting away with something else that it was time to blow the lid off of previous counts of cheating. The Patriots would really have been better off just letting Brady do the suspension (yes, I know officially it was Brady and the NFLPA, but Brady's legacy is now apparently thoroughly trashed, or at least on the way there).

This is why I'm always skeptical about long term conspiracy theories - it's too easy for somebody to get pissed and blow the lid off of things, once it's no longer in their direct interest to keep the secret. Apparently multiple people have decided that if the Patriots are going to keep on cheating, it's time to reveal everything, NFL embarrassment be damned.

Here is my conspiracy theory.

This last SB was the Patriots way to lift their middle finger to everyone. This would be the SB that could not be touched, it was not tainted. No more did they have to hear they have not won a SB since Spy gate. Well right before they are to appear in the SB deflate gate comes out. Owners; still miffed that the Pats got off easy in Spy gate so they push this as far as they can go. Regardless of the Berman ruling it did nothing to prove Brady's innocence just that the investigation was flawed.

On one hand this is so contrived its embarrassing to the NFL, but on the other hand its kind of amusing. The city of Boston is a bit somber today....its nice lol.

I have not read the entire 27 pages yet but there is alot of speculation as well as fact, but so far a great deal of speculation.

Wish the games would just start already!

The reason I don't think it is the NFL, the main office, is that it burns them very badly....I think it could very likely be a team(s) that felt enough is enough that feels a little short term value lost is no biggy and feels a lesson needs to be made....that is why I lean towards a PIT/INDY sort of situation/source....

In a nutshell, the least that needs to happen is Brady and Billicheat are gone after this year and neither ever gets into the HOF. It looks like it going to be a good year, on and off the field......

Depends how far this goes. But this is now a story that spans almost 15yrs, with SB36 in 2002. I think the owners have to finally put an end to this, otherwise face a fan base that no longer trust anything NFL. So yes, I do think this is feasible.

This had to go thru Disney exec leadership. No way ESPN releases this story without their complicity. Someone clearly has an agenda here, and I think that someone is outsdie typical NFL circles.

I agree that some external "interests" are fanning these flames. Who and why is the question.

Well, I'm not surprised one bit. We've all known they have been cheating for years. I'm upset that Martz went along with Goodell's whining. He should've been honest and told the truth.

It also adds another lie to the list for Goodell. Are the owners going to hang him out and find a new commish?

LOL yes........

This is funny to me, how people who really DON'T understand what is happening blame Goodell for SO many things.

It's comical how completely clueless so many fans are about how the nnion, the league and the CBA work. And it's amazing how the league and the commissioner get crap on for doing things they are legally bound to do because they agreed to it WITH the union, meanwhile the union never gets touched.

For instance beating your wife or girlfriend. In or out of an elevator. It's a suspension for TWO GAMES because that's what the union wanted. Yet Goodell gets crap for giving that out.

Also the "Kraft and Goodell are butt buddies", that narrative is MILES from the truth. That friendship got destroyed by Spygate. Yet people all over the country believe that the NFL is in cahoots with the Patriots. Fact is Goodell SMASHED that clab and tried to smash Brady over something as stupid, silly and insignioficant as air pressure. Yet people think they are taking showwers together.

One thing for sure, NFL fans pay little attention to facts. And fans of every team think the refs and league have it in for their team.

I find it mostly amusing, usually entertaining, and occasionally irritating.

I've never understood the hate for Goodell either. It baffles me.

Guys go out and beat their kids, get caught taking drugs, beat their wives, and ingest steroids, and its the commissioner who bears the brunt of it?

Here's a tip - stop committing felonies and you won't get suspended!

Or maybe they NFL should just stop penalizing everyone and let it be the Old West? Caught cheating? No big deal. Drugs and domestic violence? Que sera sera. Bounty-Gate, Spy-Gate, Inflate-Gate? It's catchers catch can, we don't want anyone sticking their nose into the cheating and protecting the shield!

Sorry, but there are always going to be some who think a punishment is too light, and some who think it is overly harsh. But someone has to mete out the justice, or the game becomes a joke. Commissioner is a thankless job that by its nature inspires hate and ridicule, but what is the alternative?

I'd take all the hate and ridicule in he world for sucking at my job if I got paid even just a few million a year, not some obscene 42 million.

For a lawyer, GoodHell sucks at law. Or maybe he's the best lawyer out there
