Not the best position for the NFL to take. Investigators spend money to get their investigations done - that’s how it works. That is, if they really want answers.

If this kid were a first round draft talent, you bet your ass scouts would pay to get the information. If you want to know, you can find it. If you don’t, you won’t. But in this day and age, if you don’t - someone else will - and you will be right do outed as not really having wanted to know in the first place.

Either investigate, or don’t. But don’t pretend.
The other side to the coin is the people holding on to the tape. They basically said they only care about the victim if they get paid for the video. Not the best position to take.

Selling or releasing the tape isn’t “caring about the victim”. I can’t imagine her life situation improved much with its release - same w Ray Rice’s wife.

That’s exactly what I said. They cared so much about the victim in both cases, getting justice, that they withheld evidence until they got the payday they wanted. Let’s also look at the NFL if they had paid for the video they’re then going to be seen as paying to try to get people in trouble. The league was in a no win situation. The people withholding the video for a payday are just as scummy as the assaulters! Imagine somebody you know getting attacked in that place and them withholding the video until you paid them.

Wait - they didn’t withhold it from the police or the DA. Did they?

It sure seems that way. The report was neither the league nor Cleveland PD had seen the video. Now the league says they were asked to pay for the video. We don’t know for certain but there are many people that don’t look good here. To me the worst is Hunt for doing this and the people with the video for not making sure it was available for the victim to get justice. Plus tmz keeps to me coming off as scumbags too.

I can’t imagine the police or the DA not being able to access the video if they asked for it. Can’t imagine that was the case at all.

And yeah, TMZ is pretty scummy - they are paparazzi.

If the police didn't make any arrests then they wouldn't have reason to go get a warrant for the video. If they don't have a warrant it's possible they asked and the hotel said come back with a warrant.

But for some money a hotel employee is willing to give it up.

@flv - high five - you taught me a new word. Assumed you meant credible, so I looked it up.
Don't recall ever seeing that word before, let alone using it.
You must have grown up learning proper English.

They would only need a warrant if the hotel didn’t give it up voluntarily - which they almost always would.

There is no requirement of an arrest to first get a warrant to investigate.

If the police didn’t ask for it, they took the lazy way out or the victim refused to press and they decided not to spend the time on it.

Who's to say they didn't ask? Given that the hotel employees sold the tape I feel like it's just as likely that they refused to give up the tape without a warrant because they knew that would end their chance at a payday.

I don't think we know either way if the police did or did not ask. I'm not going to just assume that they're lazy and incompetent.

A warrant would be incredibly easy in a case like that. And it doesn’t need to be lazy or incompetent for them not to seek it. All parties may have declined to press charges on the spot - which makes the tape useless to law enforcement.

Let me ask you this. Have you ever gone to the reception desk at a hotel and asked them for some help? Have they ever refused point blank to help you? Something's not right here.

.
I'm not passing judgement on her for this but according to the article some of her first words to the police were "I was assaulted by a player upstairs" which is... A weird way to phrase that. Unless his being a football player was the first thing on her mind. He attacked her though, so it's not like she's lying or anything. It's just weird.

It’s also called a hotel but Hunt is said to have bought an apartment there. Is it a hotel or condo building or apartment building or what? The whole story sucks and doesn’t sound right, just like everything in the news.

Uh....creditable is a word, and was perfect for your point.
I don't understand your response.

Isn't credible in an British accent "creditable"?
