Who was the last Jaguars first round pick that didn't bust or flame out?

Interesting question. Here are all their first round draft picks beginning from 1995 and ending in 2017. What a motley crew! Plus you have to figure that most of their picks were in the top of the draft year after year. Whoever is responsible for making these picks should be fired and banned from the NFL for incompetence.

Quanterus Smith, a defensive end that appeared in 15 games for the Denver Broncos in 2014, was arrested earlier this month after a high-speed chase following an armed robbery of an AT&T Store.

According to WSB-TV, Smith and an accomplice, Brandon Byse, stole 10 phones and over $500 from the store at gunpoint on August 9 in Douglas County, Ga. After Smith was initially stopped by police, he led officers on a chase that resulted with police spinning the vehicle into trees to end the pursuit.

Smith has been charged with armed robbery, felony fleeing and attempting to elude, misdemeanor theft by receiving and possession of a handgun while committing a felony, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Smith was a fifth-round pick of the Broncos in 2013. After missing his rookie season with a torn ACL, he appeared in 15 games and recorded 11 tackles for Denver in 2014. He was released by the Broncos in April, 2015. He spent time on the practice squads of the New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars, and the offseason roster of the Detroit Lions over the last two years. He also participated in the spring league earlier this year in hopes of revitalizing his career prospects.

Former Packers lineman arrested for drugs again
Posted by Darin Gantt on August 24, 2017

Former Packers defensive lineman Johnny Jolly has been arrested again on drug charges, and this time he used a unique variation of the “it’s not my weed” defense.

According to Keri Blakinger of the Houston Chronicle, Jolly was arrested on a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a drug-free zone, when he was stopped with more than 28 grams of hydrocodone.

But Jolly’s lawyer said the pain medications were actually for someone else.

“Johnny Jolly was arrested for a crime that he did not commit and we plan to vigorously defend him in court and hopefully the district attorney will dismiss this charge,” defense attorney Carl Moore said. “He has – and he told the police – a very ill grandmother and the medication was his grandmother’s medication.”

He’s currently free on $20,000 bond awaiting a Sept. 28 court date.

The 34-year-old Jolly has been out of the league since neck fusion surgery during the 2014 offseason. The 2006 sixth-rounder has a number of arrests on his record for felony possession of codeine, as well as a year-long suspension from the league in 2010.

Ryen Russillo was arrested for criminal entry in Wyoming early Wednesday morning, after police reportedly found him "highly intoxicated" and naked in a stranger's condo.

Two people were sleeping in Jackson, Wyo., when they heard someone enter their residence, according to Jackson Hole News & Guide. They asked the ESPN host to leave, but he did not. Police arrived shortly afterward and arrested him, the report said.

“Occupants pointed the suspect out who was found in a bedroom,” Jackson Police Lt. Roger Schultz told the publication, who added that Russillo didn't know where he was and appeared "to have just walked in" the possibly unlocked condo.

“He couldn’t coherently answer any questions,” said Schultz, referring to Russillo as "intoxicated."

The affidavit states: "Officers found the defendant, later identified as Ryen August Russillo, lying on the bed in the south bedroom naked except for his pants around his ankles."

Russillo, 42, was reportedly taken into police custody at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday and being held in the Teton County Sheriff's Office. He now has to post a bond and if he doesn't, he'll face a judge within 48 hours.

Criminal entry in Wyoming is a misdemeanor that's punishable up to six months in prison or a $750 fine.

Russillo had tweeted a photo from the West Coast this week when he shared a picture of Lava Lake in Montana.

Ryen Russillo accuses former agent of false ESPN layoff rumors

He has been a part of ESPN Radio since 2006. From 2009-2015, Russillo co-hosted "The Scott Van Pelt Show" alongside Scott Van Pelt.

When Van Pelt left for "SportsCenter" in 2015, Russillo paired up with Danny Kanell for "Russillo and Kanell" from 2015-2017.

Russillo survived the ESPN layoffs in April and May, but his radio partner did not. At the time, rumors were going around he was going to have a lesser role at the network, which he shot down immediately on the air.

ESPN has said it is"looking into the report."

Former NFL cornerback Brandon Browner was arrested in Los Angeles Monday night on felony charges of making criminal threats.

According to TMZ, Brown was charged with making threats to a woman. He was taken into custody, posted a $50,000 bond and was released late last night.

The former member of the Legion of Boom has been out of the NFL since the Seahawks released him in August 2016, after trying to convert him to safety. He played in the developmental Spring League in West Virginia but hasn’t resurfaced in a camp since.

He spent the 2015 season with the Saints and 2014 with the Patriots, when he won a Super Bowl ring against his old team.

Report: NFL official Carl Johnson under investigation for domestic violence

It appears the NFL has another domestic violence case to sort out, although this one doesn’t involve a player.

TMZ reports that line judge and former NFL vice president of officiating Carl Johnson is under investigation in Louisiana for domestic violence. Johnson has denied the allegations by a woman who claims she and Johnson lived together in 2016 and began being violent with her in December.

Per the report, the woman claims Johnson broke one of her breast implants and reached out to the NFL in March of this year before going to the police. She was granted a temporary restraining order, but a permanent one was denied. A representative of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office told TMZ that the case remains under investigation.

Johnson offered no comment when reached by the website and the NFL has not commented about any internal investigation. Johnson, who left the league office to become the league’s first full-time official in 2012, is subject to discipline under the Personal Conduct Policy.

Albert Haynesworth Accuses Ex-Girlfriend Brittany Jackson Of Physically Abusing Him, Using Racial Slur

Former NFL player Albert Haynesworth accused his ex-girlfriend, former basketball player Brittany Jackson, of repeatedly physically abusing him and calling him racial slurs in a string of tweets today.

TMZ reported that Haynesworth tweeted in response to Jackson’s accusations that he wasn’t paying child support for their son, although TMZ doesn’t say where those accusations came from—none of Jackson’s social media accounts made any reference to that as of Wednesday night, and TMZ doesn’t refer to any court records. Haynesworth labeled his tweets “The Ugly Truth about Brittany”:

He went on to say that he’d release all his evidence in court:

View: https://twitter.com/haynesworthiii/status/910583901848064002?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fdeadspin.com%2Fajax%2Finset%2Fiframe%3Fid%3Dtwitter-910583901848064002%26autosize%3D1

The Knoxville News-Sentinel got a copy of a police report from January that seems to describe one of the violent incidents Haynesworth refers to. Early in the morning of Jan. 10, Knox County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call from Haynesworth. He told them that Jackson had been drinking wine and kicked him in the groin twice during an argument. But Jackson had already left the house, and Haynesworth declined to receive medical attention or press charges.

As for Haynesworth’s description of Jackson scamming people under the auspices of fundraising for charity, there does not appear to be any record of her having a foundation. No records with her name came up in a search of the Tennessee Secretary of State’s online records for charities. She has, however, incorporated her basketball camp as Brittany Jackson Basketball Academy LLC and has hosted an annual charity game to raise money for Alzheimer’s for several years.

Jackson played four years at the University of Tennessee under coach Pat Summitt, who suffered from Alzheimer’s in the years leading up to her death in 2016. On her website, Jackson describes herself as a “playing in the WBNA,” which appears to refer to her brief time in the WNBA.

In 2008, she signed a training-camp contract with the Atlanta Dream but was waived a month later, before the season started. In 2010, she was invited to the San Antonio Silverstars’ training camp, but it’s hard to tell how long that lasted and in what capacity—a cutline from a San Antonio Express-News article describes her as playing in a scrimmage that April, but there is no news record of her either signing a contract or being waived. Neither the WNBA itself nor Basketball-Reference has any record of her ever playing in the WNBA.

Jackson was arrested on aggravated assault charges in 2010 for punching a woman, though those charges were ultimately reduced to simple assault. She pleaded guilty. Haynesworth was arrested on a sexual assault charge in 2011 for groping a cocktail waitress. The charge was reduced to simple assault, and he pleaded no contest.

If Haynesworth is telling the truth, I feel for him, and Jackson should be in prison.

The Colts kept Robert Mathis around after his retirement to help their young defensive players.

Hopefully, they limit his instruction to on the field.

According to Vic Ryckaert of the Indianapolis Star, Mathis was arrested this morning on a preliminary charge of drunken driving.

Mathis was held in the Hamilton County Jail Tuesday morning on an initial charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was arrested shortly after midnight.

The longtime Colts pass-rusher was hired in September as a pass rush consultant, after he had been hanging around in an unofficial role. He collected 123 sacks in 13 seasons with the Colts.

Bumping. Roy Miller of the Chiefs has been arrested.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...battery/ar-BBEQRTY?li=BBmkt5R&ocid=spartandhp

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Roy Miller was arrested early Saturday in Florida on a domestic battery charge, according to Duval County jail records.

Miller was jailed shortly before 5 a.m. by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The incident involved a minor injury, but no other details were available about the alleged battery.

Miller was scheduled to appear before a judge later Saturday.

The Chiefs, who are off this week, said in statement to The Associated Press that they were aware of the incident and gathering facts. They declined any further comment.

The 30-year-old Miller, who was drafted out of Texas by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, spent the past four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Miller signed a $1.4 million deal with Kansas City this past offseason but has only appeared in seven games with two tackles.

The AFC West-leading Chiefs (6-3) visit the New York Giants on Nov. 18.

NFL investigating Jameis Winston for allegedly groping an Uber driver
Posted by Josh Alper on November 17, 2017

An allegation that Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston groped an Uber driver in March 2016 is under review by the NFL.

Talal Ansari of BuzzFeed News reported on Friday that the driver received a letter from NFL special counsel for investigations Lisa Friel informing her that the league has heard about the allegations and “opened an investigation into this matter.” A spokesperson for the NFL told PFT on Friday that the matter is under review and that the NFL has reached out to Uber to request any information they may have.

The driver, identified only as Kate, says that she picked up Winston around 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 13 in Scottsdale, Arizona and that Winston sat in the front passenger seat next to her. She says Winston asked to get food at a drive-thru restaurant and, per the driver, Winston “reached over and he just grabbed my crotch” while they were waiting for it to be delivered. She claims Winston held his hand there for three to five seconds.

She reported the incident to Uber, but told Ansari she did not go to police because she was afraid of negative backlash if she went that route. In a statement to BuzzFeed News, a spokesperson for Uber said “the rider was permanently removed from the app shortly after we learned of the incident.”

Russ Spielman, one of Winston’s agents, said that a call from BuzzFeed News was the first he’d heard about the allegations and didn’t have any other comment. BuzzFeed News Deputy News Director Tom Namako later posted a statement from Winston’s representatives on Twitter.

“We categorically deny this allegation. It is our understanding the uber driver was unable to identify the specific individual who allegedly touched this driver … The only reason his name is being dragged in to this is that his uber account was used to call the ride.”

Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter said on Friday, via Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, the team will issue a statement on the matter.

This is not the first time that Winston has been accused of sexual impropriety. In 2016, he settled a civil suit filed by a woman who accused him of raping her in 2012 while he was at Florida State. He was never charged with a crime by Tallahassee, Florida police in that matter.
