Trent Richardson arrested on domestic violence charges
Posted by Darin Gantt on February 17, 2017

Former NFL running back Trent Richardson is making headlines again, for all the wrong reasons.

According to Carol Robinson of Al.com, the former Browns and Colts running back was arrested Thursday night in Alabama on a domestic violence charge.

The verbal argument with a woman apparently began at a Walmart, and continued back at their hotel room where it became physical. According to the police report, the female sustained scratches and bruises to her face.

Hoover police Capt. Gregg Rector said Richardson was “cooperative” and was “arrested without incident.”

Richardson was charged with third-degree domestic violence, and was in jail on $1,000 bond. Alabama law requires domestic violence suspects to stay in jail at least 12 hours.

The former No. 3 overall pick was a disappointment for a pair of franchises, first the Browns who traded up to take him in 2012. Then after a solid rookie season and a step back, former (and this is part of the reason why) Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson traded a first-round pick for him, and he lasted two years there. He had short stints with the Raiders and Ravens, but was cut during training camp last year and hasn’t surfaced since.

He finished his career (we’re sort of assuming he’s finished) with 2,032 rushing yards, with 950 of those coming during his rookie season when he scored 11 of his 17 career touchdowns.

Stanley Wilson II arrested while naked for a third time

A sad situation keeps getting sadder.

Former Lions defensive back Stanley Wilson II had been arrested while naked for the third time in less than a year, and the second time in little more than a month.

Via the Associated Press, police in Woodburn, Oregon arrested Wilson after he attempted to force his way into a home, and then disrobed. When police arrived, Wilson emerged naked from a shed. Wilson was taken to the Marion County Jail.

Last June, a homeowner shot Wilson during a similar incident. In January, he was arrested after being found outside a Portland residence without clothing.

It’s unclear what’s happening between these various arrests, but it’s obvious that Wilson needs help. However and wherever he gets it, he needs it now. If he’s unwilling to do it and if his family is unable to persuade him to, the authorities need to find a way to neutralize the threat Wilson apparently poses to others, and to himself.

I'm assuming this Stanley Wilson is related/son of the other Stanley Wilson that disappeared during the super bowl...correct? Anyone know??? Big Stanley was using a trash can lid as some sort of shield when he was found/noticed by the police...in a cocaine induced mania....sounds like lil Stan is into either pcp or ....what's that new stuff you youngins play with??? Bath salts??? Those are the usual culprits when guys start tearing off their clothing.

He is the son of former Cincinnati Bengals running back Stanley Wilson Sr. who had his own addiction problems.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley_Wilson_(running_back)

The most notorious instance of Wilson's relapse into cocaine usage was on the eve of Super Bowl XXIII in 1989, where the Bengals were to play the San Francisco 49ers. Wilson told several teammates that he needed to get his playbook before their last meeting prior to the game. Twenty minutes later, his position coach, Jim Anderson, found him in the bathroom, deep in the throes of a cocaine high.

The Bengals had no choice but to leave him off the roster. Wilson's relapse was his third offense under the NFL's drug policy, and he was banned from the league for life.

In the years after his relapse and banishment, Wilson was in and out of rehabilitation on several occasions. In 1999, he was convicted of stealing $130,000 in property from a Beverly Hills, California home to support his habit. He was sentenced to 22 years in Lancaster, California state prison for burglary . During his trial, Wilson's lawyer contended that Wilson suffers from bipolar disorder.

Okay....coulda sworn there should be a trash lid story in there....Looks like he should be getting out soon.
Side note...this was the Bengals team that SHOULD HAVE BEATEN the damn 9ers until this HUGE pre-game distraction....Chris Collinsworth, of PFF fame, played on this team as a wr. Probably had Ickey Woods too. And a "scat" back named....Brooks. Oh did he run hard for a scat-back. And a very underrated QB named Norman Easison....AKA, Boomer. Had a cannon. Guy had a staged tryout with the Reds or somebody...and came out there throwing mid to high 90's. Before somebody told on him.

But I thought I heard that name...Pretty sure Wilson is from out here too...

Cedric Benson busted for drunk driving again, says doesn’t know ABCs
Posted by Darin Gantt on February 21, 2017

Cedric Benson played nearly a decade in the NFL, and now says it has impaired his ability to drive. Or spell. Or something.

The longtime Bears and Bengals running back was charged with driving while intoxicated in Texas Saturday morning, and had a novel excuse for not undergoing a field sobriety test.

According to Rachel Rice of the Austin American-Statesman, police affidavit said that when the Austin police officer asked him to recite the alphabet, Benson “stated he couldn’t do that because he played 8 years in the NFL.” He also claimed he was unable to count higher than 3, and refused a balance test.

Of course, this happened at 2:47 a.m., so there are many possible explanations for his sudden weakness in math and written skills. Police said his eyes were glassy, he was swaying and mumbling, and that he smelled of alcohol and was: “talkative, uncooperative [and] cocky.”

Benson has a long history of trouble with the law in Texas, and with alcohol-related problems. He was cut by the Bears in 2008 after being busted for both drinking and boating under the influence in a short amount of time.

He was charged with public intoxication in 2014 after an argument with a woman in a cab. In 2010 he was charged with assault for punching a bar employee and was sentenced to 20 days in jail.

Any of those alone might have been enough to signal a problem that needed to be addressed, but apparently it hasn’t for Benson.

Joey Porter to plead guilty to disorderly conduct today

Joey Porter is going to take a knee.

According to the Associated Press, the Steelers assistant coach is going to plead guilty to a disorderly conduct citation this afternoon, ending the flap about his dispute with a bouncer and a police officer in January.

Charges had been reduced from the original aggravated assault, following a dust-up outside a South Side bar. The Steelers placed him on an indefinite leave, which turned out to be less than a week.

The citation is the least serious charge possible, and the league was still reviewing the case the last time anyone asked.

WR Michael Floyd starts 24-day jail term in Arizona for DUI
Josh Weinfuss/ESPN Staff Writer

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Former New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals receiver Michael Floyd began a 24-day jail sentence Thursday after pleading guilty to one charge of second-offense extreme DUI (.15-.19), according to the Scottsdale, Arizona, prosecutor.

Floyd's sentence included 120 days in jail -- of which he has to serve 24 in jail and 96 as home detention -- $5,115.99 worth of fines and fees, admittance to a court-directed alcohol-education program and 30 hours of community service.

Floyd was arrested in the early-morning hours of Dec. 12 after Scottsdale police found him asleep behind the wheel of his running SUV. His blood-alcohol level was .217. Floyd was hit with seven charges, but six, including extreme DUI equal or greater than a blood alcohol level of .20, were dismissed.

The court-directed alcohol program will require Floyd to serve a certain number of educational hours, which will be determined after a screening.

Floyd was waived by the Cardinals on Dec. 14 and was claimed by the Patriots a day later.

He played three games for the Patriots and was a healthy scratch for the team during both the AFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl.

The unrestricted free agent has expressed a desire to return to New England. It is unclear how the house arrest would factor into his offseason participation with wherever he lands.

"We have been monitoring developments but have no further comment at this time," an NFL spokesman told ESPN.

Thin crop so far this year.
A bunch of ex players and a coach? Doesn't even count.
I can't wait for list of plumbers that have been arrested this year.
Oh right, it only counts if people know your name.

Darrelle Revis, Tre Mason, and Michael Floyd aren't known by Rams fans?

Let's hope no one else associated with the Rams ends up in this thread. LA is full of temptations though...

I was being a bit snarky.
Sort of joking ex players and coaches don't count.
The whole "The NFL is loaded is criminals" thing is sort of nonsensical......yet I read every thread about NFL arrests.

Understood. Let's include anyone associated with the NFL, past or present, because they reflect on the "NFL shield"(as Goodell claims). It's better than starting a thread for each one. Here's a fan that got 5 years in prison...

New Jersey man sentenced to five years in prison for Giants ticket scam
Posted by Josh Alper on February 22, 2017

A scheme to scam 16 people out of money they thought was going toward personal seat licenses for Giants season tickets has led to a five-year prison sentence for the man who was running the con.

NJ.com reports that John Gorman has been sentenced to that jail term by Ocean County Superior Court Judge Patricia B. Roe and has also been ordered to repay $116,550 to his victims.

Gorman, who was once a Giants season ticket holder, advertised the fraudulent PSLs on Craigslist starting in 2008 but never delivered when MetLife Stadium opened for business in 2010.

Gorman’s scam was helped by the fact that he shares the same name as the Giants’ director of ticketing, which bolstered his online claims to be an employee of the team when convincing his victims to part with their money.

An employee of the team claiming to sell PSLs out the back door apparently didn’t tip anyone off until Gorman failed to produce PSLs, but should probably be a red flag to anyone who might find themselves being pitched in the future.

Well I have been figuring that there will be an incident involving a player and a tranny hooker ala Eddie Murphy eventually.

It's gonna happen .
