I'm just sad because I won't be able to afford to go to LA for games. Hotels, airfare and tickets are way too expensive. So I most likely will never be able to attend another Rams game.

I was just reading an article that was saying the PSL's in StL will skyrocket for the new riverfront stadium too. Prices are going up one way or another. If they split, it might be cheaper to go to Chicago, Indy, Cincy, KC or Tennessee. If this happens and you want to go to a home game message me and I'll help you find reasonable lodging,

I appreciate that. But I'm from buffalo so I wouldn't be getting season tickets regardless. St.Louis is cheaper all around then LA. Most people who don't live in LA or STL would rather the Rams stay in the Lou for that very reason. Not everybody has $500 to spend to go to a football game.

Since GF, they became a laughing stock, and for those who choose to, or are limited by age, will never know how mighty the Rams once were. I think a return to their former home without GF will be the first step in restoring that amazing tradition.

And that's taking nothing away from the Gateway City and they were the first city to offer the Rams a venue of their very own. The Coliseum was shared with USC and when they moved to Anaheim, they shared that with the Angels.

IMO both fan bases were extraordinary and I had the pleasure of experiencing both that is why so many of us are being torn apart.

True Den, the ED (TWA Dome) was their first home to themselves.
The StL went out on a limb to build the ED without a team too. Good thing the Rams came along. It made sense for the daughter of Miss StL 1929 at the time.
Ironically if they move to LA they might not have a home of their own again.
This, and being open air with grass are 2 of the things really going for the Riverfront project IMO.

Correct, you and I are old school so outside on grass is music to our ears. Both venues if they come to fruition will be spectacular in their own right.

You lose more historic rivalries by shaking up 2 divisions then keeping 2 divisions the way they already are. I mean that's common sense.

You strengthen the rivalries in the NFC west by the Rams being in LA. That's also common sense.

You could argue logistics but it's hard to justify the idea of losing historic rivalries by changing teams in divisions.

At the end of the day thought I doubt that rivalries and if anyone changes divisions/conferences won't be a factor in the NFLs decision of who plays where ... I only think a change happens if the Rams stay put and the Raider and Chargers end up sharing a stadium...any other situation and everything would status quo...that said once again I don't think it will even be blip in the decision...

You're right but let's not forget it was Rosenbloom who initiated the move to Anaheim which kind of began the whole thing.

And for those unfortunate enough to have attended games in the Big A, they know that was a horrendous move. I have never been to a worse "football" venue in all my life. It was well suited for baseball. It sucked out loud for football.

That's one thing I don't understand about the Inglewood plan. Why artificial turf? I realize water is an issue but they could use reclaimed water and have real grass. Sounds like someone wants to make it too tidy. It's FOOTBALL! It is football we're talking about - right? Isn't this what we want to see?

Hotels would actually be about the same, maybe even a little cheaper depending on how close you want to be to the Stadium. Since the Inglewood site is so close to LAX, there's a lot of very cheap hotels for passengers who get stuck overnight due to delays. Looking at hotels around the Dome right now, they're about 200 bucks a night for the most part, looking around LAX there're roughly 120-200 bucks. There's a few motels right next to the site that are in the 50/60 range (motels)... Granted those are likely to go up, but hotels around airports probably stay about the same. Most who travel are more likely to be LA a vacation with a game included though, given there's a lot to do.

We will just have to meet up somewhere in NE for a game....whether they move or not!

Yet I remember going there and thinking how much BETTER it was than Jack Murphy (Qualcomm). Holy crap, you buy a decent beer and something to eat without burning two possessions.....

Dunno Stu, I know if you have grass inside you face a humidty problem condensation on the roof which may cost more for running the physical plant and they don't want to go to the AZ system bk that would be expensive

You're right but if the NFL does decide to approve a move to L.A. for the Rams, this will be part of how they rationalize it: The Rams have a 50 year history in L.A., they're still in the NFC West, their rivals are all in the west, etc...

Ya but then you lose the Raiders and Chargers rivalry. The only thing you lose by moving the Rams to LA is the STL fan base but you gain so much by the Rams in LA.

Yeah, i had season tickets one year in Anaheim, and went to many games the years i didn't even though i lived in the valley. How 'bout those nachos though?

I too have mixed feelings. As the years passed I became more 'at peace' with the whole thing. Other than that unanswerable sense of confusion that occurs when I ask myself the question, 'self, how is it that the Los Angeles Rams moved away from LA?' Then I remember the answer.

For those of you who remember the Carrol Rosenbloom owned Rams or the even the Dan Reeves days you will get what LA fan is talking about.
In a 1957 game against the San Francisco 49ers, the Rams set a record for attendance for a regular-season NFL game (102,368 people). The Rams drew over 100,000 fans twice the following year. The Rams we're the 1st team to have a logo on their helmet and were the first team to have all of it's game televised. This was not your average team. Even future commissioner Pete Rozelle was an executive in our front office.

Rams won a SB in STL. The GSOT had players every bit as legendary as were in LA. We ALREADY have amazing tradition here. No need to restore anything.

Apparently you weren't around before 1980 or weren't paying attention to Rams football..
I didn't say they we're or that LA's players we're more legendary. I may believe it but I didn't say it. FCS. GSOT was and will always be legendary and yes you do have some tradition there. Kurt Warner is one of my all time favorite Rams.
Still, 49>20 every day especially on Sunday.

Guess it all depends on how it plays out, but to play on, IMO, there is nothing like natural grass.
