Apparently if you were watching the game you witnessed Nate Landman breaking a Rams record for most tackles in a single game with 17.

Not huge but still an accomplishment none the less. Good pickup for the Rams this year.

Congrats Land-Man

“Landman set the franchise record for the most tackles in a single game in franchise history (17),” the PR team posted. “Since 1994, only four other Rams have recorded 16 or more tackles in a single game: James Laurinaitis (2009 vs. Cardinals), Alec Ogletree (2015 vs. Commodes), Mark Barron (2015 vs. Browns), and Keith Lyle (1995 vs. Saints).”

Landman is one of the best FA signings in football this year. Period.

Value is key to assessing FA deals, imo... and for his price????? He's a 1.1 million dollar player????

Dude is BALLING.... and will not be a Ram next year unless they're willing to pay significantly more. Hopefully he's reasonable and they come to a deal. He's, obviously, a hell of a player and teammate.

I wonder how much of his increased production today was because Speights wasn't playing?

I noticed Reeder getting shoved around and out of position early in the game.

After Dolac came in, the run defense improved a lot.

Not to take away from the Land Man, but when he's got a competent LB beside him, the entire defense looks better.

The man is playing lights out. Hope he keeps it up and while he does I'm going to continue not saying shit about how I want to see more of Dolac.

Normally, the Rams don't value the LB position, and I generally agree with their lack of priority there, but I would make an exception for Landman. He will require $16 mil., and I would pay it. Rule #1 is to have difference makers. That's more important than where you allocate the money.

He's having a great year.. no doubt. Would love to get him signed to a decent deal. God.. it's gonna be so hard to keep this defense together long-term. I guess it's a good problem to have.

And Reeder had a 90 PFF grade

16 mill per year? How so?
I'd think former Ram Ernest Jones deal would be a benchmark, he signed a 3 year 28.5 mill deal
You could be right. That would be much better for the Rams.

I feel, though, that if Landman continues his monster season pace, Zach Baun is a more appropriate comp.

Baun 2024 numbers: 151 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 5 FF, 11 TFL, 4 PD.

Jones 2024 numbers: 94 tackles, .5 sack, 1 FF, 1 TFL, 2 PD.

Landman's projected numbers at this pace: 164 tackles, 0 sacks, 5-6 FF, 8.5 TFL, 11 PD, 5-6 FR

Baun was rewarded with a 3 year $51 mil. contract. With the FFs, TFLs, PDs, and FRs, Landman's numbers look much closer to Baun than Jones. And Landman already has 1 NFC player of the week award and could possibly get another this week.

Jones is an average, to slightly above average, LB. What Landman is doing so far is elite.

Landman is definitely a step up. I would not call him elite. To me he looks better than Jones but, not by a whole lot. I think he fits the locker room way better than Jones. The mediocre play we are so used to has lowered your expectations.

Jones is a great comp, in many ways... including their physical profiles. Neither has elite speed, and that's what's going to prevent Landman from making huge $.

Either way.. he's balling and I'm just going to enjoy the show for now.

I look at it this way, I love Land Man's play and would love to resign him. But the Rams have a price limit they would pay out and because they've been able to find a lot of talent via draft and FA over the years they are more likely to let good players go who are out of their range. And regarding Rams players (and coaches) Shawn's mindset has been happy for them and good luck wherever they go if they seek a promotion, and we'll just find another stud with our excellent talent scouts.
