Your Boi looks all grown up.
Physically - getting there. Mentally a ways to go.
(Like that shithead dog Stu has)

So we have decided to "foster" a dog for a few months. Lola was found abandoned and has been at the local animal shelter for abut 5 months now. .she has been over breeded and been in a few fights in her 3-4 years. Extremely under weight and hasn't gained a pound since arriving at the shelter. All kinds of tests all came back negative so the thought is she just isn't doing well because she is kenneled all day. We are going to bring her home Sunday and see how she does in a home environment. View attachment 18510
Blue font needed? The article was terrible. Both dogs I've owned like being hugged.freak - there goes my sig!
The hug thing actually has merit. If you really look into dog language / communication ... the kind of contact a hug provides is interpreted as a strong form of showing dominance in the dog's mind. Submissive dogs will certainly tolerate this kind of contact, but they aren't really enjoying it. A less submissive dog might lash if hugged.
Another thing that many people don't realize... dogs don't really enjoy being patted on the top of their heads. They tolerate that too... they don't like it though. Would you enjoy being patted on the top of the head ?
There are fantastic ways to show your dog affection that he will actually enjoy and feel comforted from... but hugs and pats on the top of the head are not.
Not usually - but if you're watching The Rams beat Seattle in St. Louis, and some crazy whackjob Husker fan sitting behind you rubs your head after a score....some things you can live with.
As far as dogs go, hugs may be metaphorical, but belly rubs are for real. However, yawns being a sign of stress, I gotta' totally disagree with.
I'm giving out free head rubs next season in Jacksonville!!! But no on the belly rubs unless we got cheerleaders on the menu!Hahahahaha
Ramhusker can be a lot to deal with. Especially when he gets excited.
The belly rub is definitely for real... unless it's from @Ramhusker of coarse.
so Lola is doing great now...she has gained a little more than 10 lbs since she moved in with us. Have her on Orijen grain free dog food and she looks so much better now. She is also a lot happier and energetic than she was in the shelter.

Well sad to report that Lola has passed on. We didn't realize when we took her in she had stomach cancer.
After she gained the weight needed we took her in to get spayed and they did a blood work up on her, then told us it would only be a shot time. A week later she was gone.
She was a good dog who had a rough life. Glad she lived out her days with us
