From my experiences... dogs love routines.

Most of them love boats too even if they are not swimmers.

My boy loves being on our boat and he loves swimming. Our beloved schnauzer before him loved the boat too but wouldn't avoid the water... but he would avoid swimming. Boat riding for dogs is like a car ride times infinity.

Give a pup a routine and they totally love it. Our boy gives me the stink eye if I don't take him for a recon golf cart patrol around the neighborhood each night. He's more than 50% poodle... so he's smart af. But I've come to realize that all pups want a regular routine to follow... it makes them happy and I believe it makes them feel accomplished.

That pup in the video was stuck... now he has a routine/job to look forward to and it includes boat riding. Please... that's heaven for dogs. Even scardey cat pups... give them a few steady boat rides near shore and they all turn into to boat dogs. Even if they hate water.

It is very true.
Our current pup, a female German Sheppard certainly has her morning routine.
Wakes up with my wife.
So, if I get up first, doesn't matter, she stays in bed with the wife. Then, when my wife gets in the shower she sits outside the shower door and waits for her to finish. She never sits outside the shower and waits for me.......this just shows the dog has good taste.
Anyway, as soon as she hears the back door open she runs down and goes in the backyard with me to water the tomato plants and flowers. She hangs out with me until she hears my wife's hair dryer. She then runs upstairs so she can bark at the hair dryer.
It goes on like this until we are both out of the house.
Dogs certainly do enjoy a routine and have an amazing sense of time.
They know its time for whatever regular thing in the day.....usually within about 15 minutes. Pretty uncanny.
Its also why trained dogs are such intense workers.
Gotta love em.

My boi Judah turned 8 yesterday... he got a Ram toy as a present and a Ram win too!

I found that to be heartwarming. Releasing Roxy was an act of love, not a sign of weakness. Fourteen years is a lifetime of love and loyal companionship that you can cherish forever. I have had a similar situation in my life, and it certainly alters the pattern of your days for a while. It hurts, because they are family. They were steadfast and unwavering. You offered her all of the comforts, safety, and peace we can hope for at the end - and it is a dogs wish! Thank you for sharing your story regarding Roxy - it reminds us all to hold our dogs close while we can.

We fell in the love with the little guy so he's ours. We named him Henry. He's just a lovable little guy with a lot of playful energy. He's got plenty of personality. Definitely full chihuahua at under 6 pounds. That one bent ear gives him character. Almost like a cartoon dog. Welcome to the pack Henry!

Sometimes life isn't fair. Henry's only 6 years old. He was diagnosed with a stage 6 heart murmur. Something he was likely born with. The vet told us even with the medication he probably won't make it to 7 years old.

That was a year ago when he was 5. Well, the time has come. Henry doesn't have long. He just sleeps all day. I thought we were gonna lose him the other day. His breathing was labored and shallow. Its leveled off now. He's resting comfortably. So I know he's not suffering. We're keeping an eye on him. If it looks like he's struggling to breath I'm not gonna let him suffer with that. I'll take him in and end the struggle. For now he just sleeps all day. It could be any day now. Or even any hour.

He had a good 3 year run with us. The most loving chihuahua I've ever had. He loved his belly rubs. Would always roll over any time i reach out to pet him. He loved the dog park. He couldn't contain his excitement whenever I put the harness on him. He'd bark until we walked out the door.

Its crazy how he turned so fast. Up to Wednesday he was his normal self. Thursday he was panting while he slept. Didn't even want to go for his walk. His favorite thing to do. He won't eat now. He'll drink. Vet says as long as he's not panting he's not in any distress. So we're gonna be with him for his final journey.

Run free Henry. You will be joining Guapo, Roadie and Benny across the Rainbow Bridge. We love you.

I'm so sorry, Snacks. You're right; life isn't fair, and I wish it was.

So tough to watch this happen. I feel for you my brother.

I don't know what to think. A few days ago Henry was struggling to breath. He wouldn't get up. We thought for sure that was it. We even tried to take him in and end the struggle. But no one was available to do it that day.

The next day he's still weak. But not struggling to breath. So we thought we see how it goes over the weekend. Today he's walking around. Drinking water. Using the puppy pad. I took him outside to pee on his favorite bush. He did that. Tail wagging.

The vet said he wasn't gonna get better. While he's not the same bouncy Henry he's definitely not struggling now. He doesn't even want to sleep. He sits up by where the sun comes through a window. He always liked that sunlight. We're gonna see where this goes. Maybe he'll be around a little longer than we thought. I don't know.

My Boi Judah after swimming and chilling in the pool. We wrap him up like this and he almost won't move for at least 30 minutes. He just sits on one of the lounge chairs and looks stoned af. That is one of our Ram towels btw.

He's a Goldendoodle. English Golden (the white ones) and Standard Poodle. His mom was the pup of that exact pairing... then the breeder breed her with a 100% small poodle to reduce his size (he's 40 pounds) and provide a little more poodle. He's what's known as an F1B. Most don't realize that doodles get diluted if breed after that. If you're ever going to get a doodle... never get anything aother than an F1B. Those are the only ones guaranteed not to shed and have the perfect blend of the 2 breeds.

He's 9 now, but you would think he's very young.
