I still think you need another edit. Green Bay has not locked up the final spot (according to Playoff Machine).
If GB wins, they have #1. The End.
If GB loses, they still have #1 if Seattle loses (Saints game doesn't matter)
If GB loses, the Saints take #1 with a win AND the Seahawks win.
If GB loses, the Seahawks take it with a win and a Saints loss.
All these games are played at 1:25 PT on Sunday, so if I'm reading the Playoff Machine correctly, GB has to show up, which means we can back in even if we lose to the Cards.
Hard to argue with. From what I've seen, it just seems like he blanks out - loses concentration. Not sure what that is. Too much candy on Halloween, maybe. Lol.
With the way he's been throwing the ball lately, I'd say if he were trying to throw the game, he'd miss. Lol.
That is a great point. With Rodgers I would add that when he was at loggerheads with Mike McCarthy, he wasn't nearly as effective as he was now. Rodgers can be a severe dickhole for sure, but that doesn't change the fact that McCarthy's playcalling left a lot to be desired.
I'm not saying McVay is McCarthy, not by a long shot. But McVay does need to go back to the drawing board, and he really needs to start coming up with Plan B and Plan C. Our offense was working reasonably well early in the season, but once teams got enough film on it they figured it out and have done a decent job defending it. And in that time, I haven't seen much effort to try something different. I don't necessarily know what the best answer would be, but sticking with what once worked but now doesn't isn't the answer.
He wasn't always a slow processor though. He's regressed in that area. Some of that is on him, some of it is on the coaching/scheme. I'd say it's about 50/50 when you factor in the other problems with our offense.
As far as going back to where we were a couple of years ago, one has to consider the personnel differences. We had an OL that was playing at a very high level, easily a top-5 unit. We had a deep threat on that outside that opened up the field for our other WR's. And we had a franchise RB, a guy who was effective in both the running game and the passing game, who could take it to the house on any play, and who defenses had to account for whenever he was on the field.
Now we have an OL that is in the bottom half of the league, we have no deep threats, and we have RB's that, while they are good, are a) not close to prime Gurley level, and b) get hurt too often. As a result our offensive possibilities are reduced, our scheme is reduced, and the our output is reduced. While our QB can certainly play better than he has, to expect him to produce at the level he was in 2017-2018 with the decline in personnel around him is simply not realistic.
This part is really disappointing to me. Both Akers and Hendo are good players who can do a lot on the field. But they spend too much time off of it due to injuries.

The first thing the Rams need to do is get the OL back into the top half of the league, and preferably to being a top 5 unit. I bet you'd see a lot of improvement in all of our skill positions - QB included - if we did that.
I would take Goff over Philadelphia, Oakland, Arizona (yes I said it - he is going to be out of the league in two years), San Francisco, Denver New Your Giants, New York Jets, NE, Jacksonville, Washington, Carolina, Minnesota (never been a Cousins fan), Chicago (Trubinsky sucks and will come back to earth), Cleveland.

Jackson - every time I see a good game from him he has 5 seconds to throw to a wide open receiver

But I do agree that Goff has regressed the last few games and needs to get his head back on straight. He doesn't seem like the same player that he was earlier in the season.
Cmon you have to add Chicago, Philly, maybe even Atlanta as teams you would take Goff over their QBs at the moment. Still Goff is a bottom tier starter in the NFL right now and theres no disputing that fact

It's not just you. 17/18 we had ppl running free all the time nowadays it's a perfect throw or bust.
Separation in the NFL is tight. It is one of the reasons that QBs get paid so much at this level.
Goff is gonna need his confidence rebuilt. He will need a better OL too if they want to see different results. And if they are smart they will also bring in a stronger backup.

If I had to pick a QB to win a game tomorrow, it wouldn't be Jared Goff.
All the guys you mentioned with the exception of Washington, Patriots, and Jags all of them give the team a better chance to win. Each of their teams have other issues. Bad defenses, coaching, etc etc. The Rams have everything on a silver platter right now and it can't be capitalized on thanks to QB play.
Nope, right now Mitchell Trubisky and Jalen Hurts are outplaying Jared. If Matt Ryan was under center, I wouldn't worry about dumb picks or holding on to the ball when he scrambles or gets sacked.
Seeing a pick should come at a surprise. It's not something to worry about every single time he throws the ball.
that may be a bit harsh - but if you see his interactions on the sideline, sometimes it does appear that way. Coaches seem to be telling him things and he argues.

Criticize his play this season, his decision making and thats cool because you are a fan watching him play and his performance hasn't been good.
Nothing - not one thing I have EVER read about Jared Goff squares with that comment. His teammates at Cal, the work he put in to make a huge jump and lead one of the highest scoring Offenses in his second and third season. He doesn't blame his shitty o-line, he doesn’t make excuses for himself, he doesn't say or do shitty things that we read about on twitter.... over and over again the players that have come to LA in recent years all speak to the culture and locker room camaraderie as being the best they have ever been around. The QB is a big part of that. You really believe Goff is strolling into Rams Park every day like some spoiled child and just not giving a shit? Andrew Whitworth, Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Sean McVay all clearly like Goff the person.
The only negative things I've ever read about his character come from fans who only know they don't like him and getting people to agree he is playing bad is never enough - some need everyone to think he's a shitty person too.

The Rams have everything a silver platter?? We have an OL that can't get consistent push in the running game and cannot pass protect long enough to allow longer patterns to develop, hence the short routes. We have WR's that, while technically skilled, do not scare defenses deep. We have RB's that cannot remain consistently healthy. We have a playcaller who has himself regressed in his creativity, has become predictable, and who stubbornly sticks with things that are not effective rather than trying to change things up and continues to run largely the same scheme and same plays he began the season with, even though teams have now figured out how to defend it.
That's not a silver platter, that's a fucking lead platter, lead poisoning and all.
Call out Goff all you want for lack of ball security, bonehead plays like his INT yesterday, and so on. But please don't pretend everything has been handed to our QB on a silver platter and the only thing holding us back is his play. That is simply not an accurate reflection of the current reality at all. Every other area of our offense has regressed as well.

You act like I DON'T like Goff as a person when in deed that's not true. I do like Goff as a person, he seems like a chill dude. The spoiled brat is about him as a player. He constantly makes bad decisions anymore and hasn't been good. I'm not saying he's not trying to get better, I'm saying it sure as hell appears the player isn't getting better. And the not being punished is about him as the player. He's got no QB behind him they knows could push for his job or come in and have Goff sit because he's playing bad. He seems so careless because no matter what, nothing is going to come if it.
I'll never forget when Nick Saban BENCHED HIS STARTER in the National Championship (Hurts for Tua) because he simply wasn't playing as well as Saban thought.
Goff simply doesn't have that legit backup QB to keep pushing him and keeping honest.
When Goff plays good, I call it. When Goff plays bad, I call it. I've been a Goff supporter ever since he got to the Rams. And went into this season high on Goff. But of the last half of this season, I don't feel as I did. And that's my opinion.
I like Goff the dude, I do. And when I speak of him, I speak of him the player not the person.
Do I understand we don't have the best OL? You're damn right. Do I understand we don't have a deep threat? You're damn right. But damn, everything shouldn't have to be PERFECT for him to make a throw and not turn it over.
But to me, I also think that if you're getting paid $25mil+ this season and it only goes up from there, you should be able to play through some of these issues. Many QBs in the NFL are playing behind bad OLs and with lesser weapons than him. And to me, it's not the throws he's NOT making, it's the decisions, the ball security. And when there's a guy open, he makes a bad throw, but also will make a good throw.
I go back to the 2017 and 2018 season. He was making the easy throws and many great, tight throws, and wasn't a turnover machine. He turned the ball over a bit last season but still made a lot of great throws and I felt like damn, I'm glad he's our QB and know we can win a SB with him. I went into this season thinking the same damn thing, and earlier he made great throws and the easy throws and started to turn it over but I felt like he'd overcome that and March is down the field. But the last half the season? He isn't making the easy throws, he's turning it over alarmingly, I feel like he's going to get 2 turnovers a game and his confidence, body language and demeanor seem shot and it shows in his game. And this last half has me seriously questioning if he's the Super Bowl winning QB I viewed him as.
Is it possible he's been hurt most the season? Damn right.
Also, when I say he's soft to me, I mean mentally and not physically.

I know that there are a lot of emotions right now after back to back losses but I see a lot of hyperbole about Goff's accuracy (or slowness) or McVay "simplifying the offense." That's not accurate.

I am going to review each one of Goff's pass plays in the All 22 and see if he had a chance to throw.
On those roll-outs, it seemed like he had time to make a play but no receiver was open.
Read it again, man. I stand by it.
- The OL is part of a RBBC that is 10th in the league in rushing yards. I don't even remember where I said this before but this is without an elite RB or running QB like Lamar or Kyler. They have 19 rushing TDs, 6th best. A few came from Jared on the goalline.
- Why do you think no one is scared of the WRs right now? Is it more on them or the person throwing them the ball?
- Why do you think Sean McVay has to severly limit his playcalling? Could it be because the QB isn't executing even the basics right now? At least consistnently.
For the reasons I mentioned above, and having a defense that's the league's top 3, maybe the best, there's no reason why a QB can't thrive.
That's pretty misleading. The Rams are also 10th in the league in passing yards. Our star tackle got injured and our QB and 2 RBs are injured (one twice). The poor o-line play this year cannot be ignored.
There is no evidence that McVay is limiting the offense. Week to week it looks like he calls plays to exploit what he perceives as mistmatces. For instance, I don't think we ran a single 3rd down screen yesterday. Most of the pass plays were in the gun.
Statistics can be (and in this case, most definitely are) misleading. The OL you tout couldn't even get enough push for us to put the ball in the EZ on four running plays after we had 1st and goal at the SEA 2 yard line. They can't pass protect long enough for deep patterns to develop either, which is more important given that we don't have a deep burner on our team. They are not a top unit, they are not even in the top half of OLs in the league right now, the stats you cited notwithstanding.
