Weird situation with Karty being kept on. Makes me think maybe that they believe in him and he’s the most talented - but he needs a couple weeks to fix some issues. In the meantime, using this other guy. Idk maybe
Or that they're not sure if he's part of the problem, so they don't want to move on from him yet until they're sure.

Ya...

It's kinda that feeling when you finally boot your girlfriend out of your house, then you kinda have that unsure feeling of who's gonna fold your underwear.
Uh…no, that wasn’t what I was thinking at all.
WASHING my underwear? Ok, that’s different.

I'm the opposite. I do want to see McVay going for it more often. He's conservative by nature, but I think he'd be better served if he went for those 4th and short more often.
Agree.
1) this is a high powered offense that is heating up.
2) the defense is top notch and should factor in when considering going for it on 4th down.

If it’s up to me, once the Rams cross the 50 yard line, they should be using their 4 down playbook.

My hopes and expectations are:

1. Don't miss extra points
2. Don't miss FG's inside of 45 yards.
3. Make 75% of FGs inside of 55 yards.
4. No more blocked kicks

That's it. My expectations are not overly high for an NFL kicker is it?

I used to feel that way too, but now that McVay slowed down his brain enough to finally realize he has four TE's he can now throw to on short yardage and be successful on 3rd and 4th downs and short yardage..... I cautiously feel more optimistic.

They should have a kicking game good enough to do so.................. if they wanted.
Being forced to is a whole different deal.

Karty was/is not the problem. He has no confidence, because the line has been trash on blocking. Its like they give up and dont care.

Its gonna happen to this guy too, and thats what they want to see.

Mevis is a band-aid fix. The infection is Blackburn. Till he is cauterized, no kicker will be given a chance to truly succeed.

All kickers lose it at some point. They get in their own heads.

I had hopes that a kicker from Stanford would have a mind that would hold out longer than most. Nope... that fakkah got the yips. Stanford my ass.

When you really look at it... the drunken kickers are able to block their brain farts out the longest. I submit Janikowski and Prader as examples.

We need to find a kicker who has had a lobotomy if we ever want one who won't lose it at some point. Hey Les!!! Until you find one, start scouting dive bars for our next pretend football player.

Until then, I will hate all kickers. Too many of you need to see the light. Hell, one of you can't decide if you blame the Stanford yipper or not from minute to minute. Sounds too much like a kicker's brain to me.

They're not even real people. Let's stop these feeble attempts to apply reason or logic when talking about fucking kickers ffs.

I'm never hard to read. I enjoy making myself absolutely clear! Even if I'm wrong in other's eyes!

And I've been 100 on this for over 15 years now on this site!

Don't be a bitch or a kicker... take a stand ffs! LOL

No, your expectations are quite modest.
I would add they are not just for the kicker, but the kicking unit as a whole.
New kicker. New long snapper. Here we go.

I’m still not sure about this one. I don’t like changing kickers mid season. This entire issue should have been sorted out well before now.

I see a lot of speculation/criticism in regards to Blackburn but do we have any evidence that he is the issue? Admittedly teams haven’t been world class during his tenure but has he had sufficient talent with which to to work? I mean, if you give Bobby Flay a pork chop and ask him to prepare you a steak your going to be disappointed.

The blocking for FGs has been ass. Is that on Blackburn or the “talent”? It would also seem apparent that McVay was unhappy with the LS. Was he the heart of the problem?

I think Karty, Blackburn, Ward and perhaps Evans have all contributed. But as we sit today, with a new kicker and LS we still don’t know if the problem has been corrected.

It would be a travesty for this season to be derailed by a problem with the kicking game.

I for one am glad to see the Rams make a move to address a position of weakness before it cost them anymore games, standing pat was just not an option. We will all see how this plays out but changes needed to be made because what they had just wasn't good enough to be a championship team. I love that the Rams are willing to make the big moves to be a winning organization.

Yeah, it's been mentioned before, when you change 2 of 3 parts of the equation, how do you know which one was the problem? But I'm sure they evaluated everything this week in practice. We'll see.

I’d rather have better kick off returns then worry about this nonsense. No shade toward McVay but he never could get a hold of the Special Teams once he cut Bones loose. I rather not rely on FGs to win games.

The ST coach has to go.

That is the obvious, however, I don't blame the Rams for making these changes. McQuaide is a former all pro and should improve the blocking plus improve the protection calls too. Mevis should be far more confident than Karty as he made 20/21 FG's in the UFL only missing from 63 yards and just beat out Rodrigo Blankenship, another top UFL kicker & Karty in a competition.

Look I was all for drafting Karty, but you cannot miss 39 yard FG's that is unacceptable. Do I believe Blackburn needs to be replaced? Yes, but it is not because of Blackburn that Karty badly missed an extra point and the 39 yarder against the Saints.

Seems to me that if the new kicker does well on Sunday, both Karty and Ward will be gone on Monday.
