Mcvay has confirmed the starters will play on Sunday regardless if their seeding is already determined. So with all the Poltergeist-type of events that have happened this year to screw this team, he invites possible injury with a 37 year old QB with back issues and a WR with a LB's approach to hitting, who gets hurt a lot. I understand they need to not only win but do so convincingly, but to take that risk in this bizarro season is scary.

I don't blame him. Losing two games in a row is no way to enter the playoffs. Resting might seem logical, not to me, the feel of winning again is more important.

Really don’t get the logic behind it, but OK. The risk is way higher at this point if you don’t care about thee established outcome.

McVay was really affected by his decision in 2017 to rest starters in the regular season finale vs. the 49ers. Rams were 11-4 and had clinched a home playoff game, then fell to 11-5 after a "meaningless" loss to the Niners. Only problem? The team came out FLAT as hell the following week, and played a horrible first half in their playoff loss to the Falcons.

I still remember how McVay said he was greatly influenced by a talk with Belichick the following offseason. Belichick believes in playing starters even in so-called "meaningless" games after clinching. The reasoning? Belichick thought momentum was hugely important heading into the playoffs, and felt like the team had to maintain a standard of competitive ferocity.

Belichick also said:

‘Well, we’re not going to play you guys over here, but the rest of you get out there. We don’t really care about you. If you get hurt, that doesn’t matter, but these six or seven guys we’re going to protect.’

“You can’t say that to the team,” he continued. “That doesn’t resonate well at all, nor should it."

Generally speaking, I tend to agree with Belichick and McVay. Belichick is an asshole and I dislike him (like all Rams fans do), but I gotta concede he knows a thing or two about getting a team ready for a playoff run.

Here's an article explaining Belichick's POV. In a different article, one writer referred to Belichick as a "momentum freak."

Yeah who knows, it's a tough call. Maybe McVay will go somewhere in the middle-- play the starters until they've gotten in a few good series, and then rest a few guys?

I think it's hard to predict what McVay will do on Sunday. In preseason he puts a huge priority on avoiding injuries to starters. But I remember McVay implied he regretted taking his foot off the gas in the 2017 finale. So it's hard to read the tea leaves on this one...

@Merlin is on a roll today. His comment in a different thread:

"we're all gonna be suckin seat cushion in the 4th quarter when the other team has the ball in the playoffs."

.

He just rested all his starters last season in the last regular season game. Didn't affect them at all.

He knows it was his decision which led to this total DNA rifle up in the last two games to put the Rams in the passenger seat. All he had to do was be more aggressive when the Rams got what should have been the game winning interception against the seagulls and they wouldn't be in this shit.

Now he has to try to get their Mojo back.

If someone gets hurt then its the wrong decision, if they get their swag back and it propels them then its right.

Run what you brung, do not be scared.
Its not like we "don't" need to beat the shit out of somebody to get our Mo Jo back. We do, the Cardinals are just a innocent bystander.
Lets get it on.

Mcvay is not gonna tell the team that the whiners or the seahawks dictate what he will do against the Cardinals. If the whiners win... you can rest assured he will pull the starters quickly. But if the hags win... I believe he will play to win.
