McVay said he was suprised by all the cheering when the packers scored.

Maybe 40,000 Rams fans had a family thing to go to?

I gives a freak what the paid hacks have to say about the Rams crowd. I live in MD and can't do much but watch on TV, but again....whats the point of bitching about it?

I 100% believe behind closed doors the players are bitching about it.

Iike I said I love Cali.. just want a better home environment for my favorite sports franchise in the universe.

That's too bad.... perhaps by the time the Rams "earn" back your loyalty, they'll suck again and there will be another reason not to go to the games.
I did say I have been a fan since 1969? Just cause I am not willing to go to more than one game doesn't mean I have not rooted for them every year. Bought direct tv so I could watch them every week. What is pissing me off is the Embarrassment statements and the assumption that there are not passionate Rams fans in LA. I was also trying to give you some reasons why the Fan base isn't willing to spend their hard earned money on the new home team just yet. If your take away from my rant was I have not been a loyal ram fan, then I apologize for not being clear.

Les is right. I'll watch the game again, but it seemed to me it was noticeably louder when our O was on the field than when GB's O was out there. That's the major advantage of having HFA, and the Rams don't have that. At least they didn't in the Packers game. Maybe the fans don't understand their part in creating HFA. Do the Rams need to resurrect their 'How to Cheer?' campaign from several year ago (the one that was universally panned at the time) to teach fans when they need to make noise???

seems to me the biggest problems with the attendance issue is it causes dissension amongst the ranks here at ROD

Never lived in LA or St Louis.

Lots of great diehard fans in both locations.

BUT. I to watched the entire game. Why can I hear AR cadence and Goff is in a silent count?

Ram fan or not, When the home team is home. No way no how should there ever be more than 10% of the stadium with the enemy.

To put it nicely. It fucking sucks

I know. Using a silent count in your own "home stadium." Utter madness.

I was there and it was a pretty even crowd. Their fans were VERY loud on our 3rd downs. On the flip side, just watch the vid clip of the fumble at the end of the game and listen to the crowd ;)

There was clearly equal crowd noise for both teams.

And this discussion should not cause dissension on ROD.

The point being. That this type of crowd just shouldn't happen in a home game environment

How to fix it. Who knows. But as a diehard fan, if I owned the team and decided to open up more tickets for the game. They would have been given away to Rams fans.

A money grab to sell more tickets made the crowd much more Packer friendly.

SK should take that into consideration

I don't know why talking about something that is clearly not normal, no matter how much spin we want to give it, has to be like walking on egg shells..

I am not reading a bunch of "LA fans suck" posts. Its being discussed realistically and respectfully, and yet unless you are saying "everything is fine", it feels risky to post any other opinion on the subject.
Our head coach clearly was surprised and dissapointed and he wouldnt bring it up if it was the non-issue some want to make it.

Who's "walking on egg shells" here? This thread is on page 6 and everyone has been allowed to post their opinion openly. But as some have mentioned any time the topic veers to "LA fans suck, are pathetic" or something like that, it tends to piss some members off. That's why the membership is cautious about it.

Well gosh I think maybe the players care. You think they like a home game where the crowd is just as loud for the other team?

I mean you are entitled to your opinion.. but "who the freak cares" ? I don't think that's being realistic.

I would have thought it was kinda' understood I was referring to fans, not players - but thanks for clearing that up Captain.

I've been to Green Bay twice - great fans, and a thoroughly enjoyable experience, would recommend it - but the Packers are literally their life, period. Worse (in a good way) than any SEC fanbase.

In part because there is NOTHING, as in NOTHING else to do there. The Los Angeles Rams aren't yet, (and probably never will be) loved by so cal fans the way the Packers are by their locals.

The reason I said it was boring, and why I don't give a fuck, is because the announcers (typical media), harp and harp and harp on it like it's some thing new. It isn't - it will ALWAYS be there. As will, btw, the Lakers, Dodgers and Kings.

And also btw, it was the same in St. Louis at the Packer game I attended there. So excuse me if I get a little bored, and honestly, irritated when I read, yet again about the phenomena that is the Packer's fan base.

Who are delusional as well, as was evidenced in the "what they're saying" thread.

As far as the players, I seriously doubt they are impacted anywhere near the way fans are.

I hope I've helped clear that up for you.

I know, I recognized it and said I realize why people are sensitive in a later post on this thread.

Walking on egg shells wasnt the right way to put it, but its definitely a topic where having an opinion on it requires some.... finesse.

Then again, maybe that's why we're so good on the road? We're 12-1 away from LA under McVay.

Adopt a silent count full time out of necessity when most teams only practice it on the road.

My wife and I attended the game. We’re season ticket holders who sit in the end zone area.

By my eyeball test, it was at least 50/50 if not 60/40 Packer/Rams fans. For comparison, the Charger game was probably 70/30 Ram/Charger fans, and the Vikings game was probably 65/35 Rams/Vikings.

It was definitely frustrating to see that many opposing fans in our stadium, but at the same time I’m not surprised one bit. Besides the “Super Sports Equinox” that everyone has mentioned, keep the following in mind:

- the Rams had been gone for 22 years. It’s great that they’re doing well now, but it will take time to get the additional hardcore fans

- there are a lot of Packer fans here in SoCal. Local packer fans had their first chance to see them here in LA since what, the early 90’s? So there’s going to be a lot of pent up demand driven by Packer fans to finally see their team. Hell, before the Rams moved back to LA and drafted Jared Goff (from my alma mater, Cal) the Packers were the closest thing I had to an NFL team for the previous 22 years because they had another Cal legend, Aaron Rodgers. It was really this game that tipped the scales for me to get season tickets this year despite the issues I’ll note below. If this game would drive someone like me to finally shell out, imagine how it is for longtime Packer fans?

It was truly bad timing for the Rams to have a game against a team with this type of national/traveling fan base on the same day as the World Series. That pretty much sealed the deal in terms of any last minute casual LA fans choosing to attend the Rams game.

- The Coliseum sucks. I said it. I went to Cal-USC games in college and I knew from experience that the stadium is antiquated, has seats with really poor viewing angles, poor setup for a modern football game, etc. This, combined with the costs of attending a game, kept me from attending games last season despite their success under McVay.

Having attended half a seasons worth of games, i still don’t think the Coliseum is a great venue and I get why people would rather watch it on TV. But for a more dedicated fan such as me and my wife, we’re willing to deal with those issues because this team is so awesome to watch. And I must say, the environment at the Vikings game was incredible - right up there with the best college football games I’ve attended. So our fan base can make even the Coliseum a great place to watch a game.

But for casual fans, the Coliseum isn’t going to be a great draw and in fact is probably a detriment in deciding whether to attend a game. That will hopefully change with the new stadium.

It definitely looks like a good number of season ticket holders sold their tickets for this game to pay off some, if not all, of their season ticket costs. We overhead a few fans talking about that during the Vikings game. I don’t begrudge them, even though it’s obviously not what I would do.

Another thing re: crowd noise. I obviously can’t speak for every Rams fan, but I think the combination of the number of Packer fans combined with the offense’s uncharacteristic struggles to start the game really stunned us. At the same time, those things really spurred the Packer fans to be even louder when they realized they had a real chance to beat one of the best teams in the NFL.

The main thing to remember is kids like myself in 1968.
I'd heard about the Rams, I figured I should like the Rams because they were my local team.
My dad took me to the Rams - Giants game at the Coli.

We were down at the half and it looked like it was going to be a loss but the Rams came back in the second half and won the game.
The excitement of it hooked me for life.
Yesterday, the excitement of that game hooked a thousand more kids like it did me in '68.

It looks like to me every game at the Coliseum is bringing a little more excitement.

That's all you can ask for when you consider the environment;
Fans are still mad at the Rams for moving to begin with.
Tons of out-of-towners that already have a team.
The fact that there IS a lot to do out there.

That place was packed for a Rams game like it hasn't been packed in a long, long time.

It's all moving forward perfectly, in my opinion.
Clearly the Rams were THE gateway drug we all became addicted to at some point. I am still addicted to this team this day. Go Rams!

Lived i SoCal pretty much my entire life, which isn’t as common a statement as you may think

Anyone notice how loud Boston fans were at Dodger Stadium?

Thing is, there are so many east coasters and even mid westerners that have migrated out here, it is what it is

I can assure anyone who’ll listen, it was a completely different world here 35-40 years ago

That being said, i liked the look of that Old Place packed as it was yesterday

Meh... I went to games in Seattle during and slightly after the GSOT days and the Rams fans were deafening at times.

I’ve been to Tampa for a game and there were probably 30% Rams fans and we were terrible at the time.

I went to the season opener in the Lou and there were a crap ton of shecocks fans there.

I have been to Oakland for a couple games and it was one of the few venues I felt severely outnumbered, yet they are moving.

I went to a game in SD and it was about a 50/50 mix.

I watched the Pitt/KC game and there was a huge number of red jerseys in the crowd and empty seats.

It’s popular talk bullcrap to point it out in LA as it happens virtually EVERYWHERE.

Football fans travel. There’s only 16 games so each one is a big deal and adding a few hundred to your trip to a destination city is no big deal for vacationers timing their trips.

Watch a Georgia/Florida game. You telling me there’s not a pretty even mix? Go to a USC/ND game. Same thing.

Basketball has 82 games and baseball 162. It’s just not that hot of a ticket and even if fans travel for games, they are far more spread out through the season. Yet Dodger stadium consistently leads the league or is at the top in attendance.

The Lakers/Trailblazers games always had a huge Laker base at them. Not so much when Portland came to LA.

Frankly, the story is old and stale and it only serves to make me roll my eyes when they bring it up.

Preach 503 This sums it up!
The lakers were bad the Dodgers were bad and when that happened the crowd became more balanced.
If and when we continue to win we will be en vogue and the fans will come, we will heavily outnumber any team in our stadium if and when this happens. The Patriots sucked for years and had no support. Besides I hate bandwagoners and don't care. I actually like rooting for a team that isn't the most popular. I couldn't live with myself if I was a Cowboy, Steeler, or Raider fan (Packer, niner, and Patriot fit here when they win) Could you imagine? I am fine with my RODies and my few friends outside that are fans...…..screw the rest of them
