I think the elements are there for a theory to be crafted that Snead influenced the Rams to take Simpson. But where you're going off the rails is in thinking Snead has the power to shove him down everyone's throats. Not only does he not have that level of power and influence with the Rams, but also that is not who Snead is.The point still stands. This was a front office decision made months before the head coach got involved in the process.
Snead's a GM who flips over every rock and builds consensus on the most important decisions. And yes I am not in the room, so I don't know that for sure, but I've watched enough of his vids to where I feel comfortable saying that.
There is simply no way Snead would flex with a top pick. Zero chance. But if you end up being correct that perhaps he has manipulated this selection to happen, it will come out at some point. And from there if Simpson doesn't live up to expectation it may even drive a wedge between him and McVay.
But if that were to happen, the Rams would fire Snead. There is no chance they'd keep him over McVay if it came down to that. I love Les, think the world of him. But McVay's the rockstar here.
