Yes so that means there shouldn’t be a penalty right?
Well unfortunately the world we live in is based on 90% appearance and the appearance was he was taunting him. He was up close and personal and should know better than that. He’s not a rookie. It doesn’t matter if he’s giving him the recipe of cherry merry muffins... do it farther away and not standing over him.
And now you come to the realization of where the league is headed. I’m not justifying how the NFL and in particular the Refferee association but this is the reality of where they are.GD it means there shouldn't be a penalty. If an NFL official is going to penalize someone for taunting, perhaps they should make sure the person is actually, you know, taunting first. Even more so when the allegedly taunted player says he wasn't taunted.
If officials are going to start throwing flags merely for appearances, this league is even more f--ked than I've thought. Fans have rightfully criticized the NFL for being excessively restrictive on TD celebrations ... so now players are going to have to be so cautious they can't even talk to each other for fear of drawing a flag because it might appear as taunting to some flag-happy official? Yeah, that'll make the game more fun to watch ...
Payton sure had a gripe IMO, being hit with 11 penalties while Atlanta only had 4 seemed out of whackSo, as I read this, I'm thinking he'd be as guilty as the players if he raised a stink and got a penalty (and fine). See what happened to Peyton when he made a stink? Cost them that game.
Lead by example... brush it off and become more determined!
Yup... but, like Johnson, he should understand the consequences if the Ref throws the flag.Payton sure had a gripe IMO, being hit with 11 penalties while Atlanta only had 4 seemed out of whack
A warning at most is what should have happened there. Not a game changing penalty for 2 players just running their mouths at each other 40 yards away from everyone else.
If warnings were already given... and the ref was that hell bent on throwing a flag... they both should have been given off-setting penalties. That would have put them both on notice (cause a 2nd one of those gets you tossed from the game). That's how you get control of 2 players like that without changing the outcome of the game.
Worst call I've seen in a very long time. Absolute crap.

This was the one I was talking about, but the Eagles taunted a few more times after that one. Just stupid, but the officials seemed hell bent on calling that, in fact, they seemed eager, and happy to do so. I guess we should sew some pockets in our pants, and while the thread and needle are out, sew all of our mouths shut too.Trey Burton's taunting on that first touchdown was FAR worse than Tru's "taunting" with Jeffery, and he had no flags.
Just another horrific call from Wrolshit's (or Whorestad's: pick whatever you want) crew.

Then, on third downs, just don't move from our stance, and maybe on field goals, we should just lay down backwards.
I'm thinking that only makes matters worse. Call them out in public?I would have laid those refs the F out after that game in the press. Straight up would have called the NFL on their favoritism and attempted crowning of the other team and given them the PR flak that they deserve.

IF they weren't holding any grudges BEFORE, they certainly would now.
The way it looks right now, my bet is that two players from Seattle will be sitting this week because they couldn't control themselves in Jacksonville.
Ummm. I think you're forgetting this is the SEAHAWKS you're talking about...NO WAY they get a suspension. Mark my words. Truly hoping I'm wrong.
The NFL wonders about their product and the decline in interest. I think it's pretty DAMN clear.
