I love McVay, but my honeymoon with him is over. His playcalling has to be better. Goff was off today, he looked like he might have been ill. McVay needs to recognize this, and he needs to change his calls - Gurley was unstoppable today.
The 11-1 McVay honeymoon is not over---for me. Not for me....best Rams reg season ever (yes, 11-0 to 11-3 1969 was nice, too)

Goff was off. It happens. Ppl have bad days. But this is why it's a team sport, and it's up to others to pick up the slack.

I had no problems with this game and never at any pt did I think we were going to lose. We pulled away later than I expected, but we still pulled away. Off to the Bears who just lost to the Giants. When we win by 10+ pts I guess the narrative will be that Whitworth is getting old for not handling Mack or something lol

We have come a long way. A win any way you cut it.
If it was not for McVay showing us just how bad it was under Fisher we would be happy at .500
He is smart enough to learn from this. And yes, Goff might have been under thew weather. Kid did not look like himself.
Lets pound the Bears into submission !!

I see all the chastised are out in full force. No critics allowed around here people! Stop being human! The Rams just regain home field advantage the week before, but no fans are allowed to be upset and reactionary. We all need to think like the machines we will one day be replaced by. Their is no room for emotions in sports. Fanatics aren't permitted to be fanatics in these parts.

SMFH.

Them fuckers get paid as professionals just like our Rams do.

Matt Patricia's team stomped the Patriots ass.

If this wasn't their SB it was their Championship game.

Every game isn't going to be a blowout or domination, get over that shit.

The signs of a genuinely great team and coaching staff is when things aren't going well they analyze, adapt, and overcome.

Hence the win.

Hate to hear you parenting your children... "what you graduated being a brain surgeon but didn't graduate valedictorian from Harvard with a 4.2 and won The Noble Prize before graduating?"

I can’t believe our coach has only gotten us to 11-1. You can throttle every team in the league if you only have your players ready to play. Every play will work and no defense can stop anything you do. Man our coach sucks. I’m tired of sugar coating it. The honeymoon is over. He’s into his second whole year as a head coach and doesn’t know everything. What in THE hell is taking him so long. FFS! I mean we could have lost this game if we didn’t win it by 14. 30 points? What the freak is that? You should be able to do that in your sleep in this league. The experiment is over. McVay needs to either get his crap together or we need to move on.

That about cover it or did I miss some form of idiocy in there somewhere? Lovely thread. Glad everyone feels better for it.

Short memory. Goff nearly three three bad interceptions. He wasn't very accurate all day. The game actually could have been lost. Momentum is a fiscal mistress.

Don’t be so obtuse.
It should be obvious to anyone with a brain that there are several posters in this thread who should be NFL coaches.

And we’ll all miss them when they’re hired next year - (or maybe even next week in Green Bay.)

Please know that your analyses will be missed. :palm:

Ah, the NFL coaches are smarter than everyone else argument. Jeff Fisher says hi, and thanks because he wants back in.

The only problem I saw was Goff was high on his throws all day.

His reads were excellent he just couldn't put the ball on a dime like normal.

Then he probably tried to OVER compensate and it got all weird.

It happens. I think we are a little spoiled with how consistent Goff is because today he was off.

It may have been the early game. His mind and body are used to the late games.

There you go making a sensible reply about what really happened. Don't you know that your just supposed to try to make the dissenters look foolish by being sarcastic on this thread?

Criticism is fine, if it’s intelligent and specific.

But it’s hard to have patience for simplistic criticism from fans who seem to think they can call plays better just by saying “I woulda run more.” Or ridiculous demeaning comments about McVay like “the kid will learn.” Or throw-in-the-towel silliness (after a 14 point victory for an NFL-best record) like “the Honeymoon’s over.”

It boggles the mind that some Rams fans can’t fully appreciate McVay. Over a decade of losing, the worst offense in the league, then McVay brings an immediate turnaround to a stratospheric offense, the playoffs, then best record in the NFL? And still whining?

It’s hard not to play to the level of your competition. Think about all those fisher years when teams would almost lose and play our game, then beat us at our game. As if our offense was so boring that it kept other offenses from getting into a rhythm.

I wouldn’t be excited to play the Lions. Who do I trade jerseys with after the game? Blount? Galloday?

It's not about fully appreciating McVay. He's been a Godsend for us. But his playcalling has been suspect at critical times.

This team is 7-5 without Aaron Donald.

Lions are not as easy a team as their record looks. They've broken a few good teams hearts this season. Goff and our oline were off today, which is going to effect the play calling. Unless you got Gurley around the edge, he wasnt going anywhere in that game. So some of the situations we were put in had to be happy. There have been a couple plays that i didnt agree with through out the year, some i thought we could have tried that i thought would bring us more success, but then again maybe not. The fact that McVay is seeking out help with the offense is extremely humbling for him as well, considering hes being called an offensive genius.

Its called perspective. The team has been through a lot in the last month. From a the shooting, to fires ejecting many team members from their homes, to several big time games, including what seems like a mid season SB... and this was their 1st game against a team that was not hyped up and it was coming off of a week off.... and they still won by 14 in a game where they looked a bit sleepy at times & playing a team that was a dangerous home dog.

The big picture is that next week's game is huge, Talib is back, D played better, and Gurley had a nice game after a few quiet weeks. Now on to Chicago and a chance to put a nail in the #1 seed's coffin.

Probably 7-5 without Jared Goff too. It takes a village. Billicheat has made plenty of suspect calls too, but he's had his team in how many super bowls in the last 17 years?? There's a human factor, no ones perfect. That being said I would not trade our coach or QB for anyone else in the league.

Nope. Some people react differently. They see things differently. Others decide to make fun of them for it. It’s lame. The word fan stands for fanatic. Let them do it there way. Reply respectfully instead of trying to look smarter than them and belittle them, give your perspective kindly.

That is supposedly what this forum is about isn’t it?

McVay has the second or third (can't remember exactly) best record in his first 25 games as a head coach in NFL history.
He has been better than anyone has the right to expect.
To think that every game is going to be a video game performance of highlights is nuts. As I always say, the other guys get paid too.
Some of the play calling didn't work. That would be called the D on the other team having a game plan too. The QB was off. All of this is true and Rams put up 30 points and won a road game by 14 points.
Enough said.

Straw Man much?

Haven’t heard that term since Ramstalk.

And no that’s not the point. I agreed the problem was Goff’s inaccuracy. I gave Mojo the thread winner for that. It’s just that all of these snarky posts are uncalled for. We usually have a vent thread. Some people were venting. Let them be fans.

You’ve been around different fans than I have. Fans I know tend to be reactionary right after a game. It easily could have been a loss. Emotions ride higher for some than others.

I think many fans are reminded of how flat the Rams were last year in the playoff! This game reminded us of that, didn’t it?

Yeah, and some fans have a diff perspective... You seem to be saying they are wrong for their approach. People post here to discuss an issue or express a feeling about a subject, game, etc...

So don't post if you don't expect to have someone else express a feeling about the subject of your post. Its not that hard of a concept. No one is calling you stupid or shouting you down, they are just expressing a different opinion. Right?
