You have your love affair with him all you want, but McVay's infatuation with the pass for long stretches of time is going to hurt this team at a critical moment, we are lucky it hasn't so far.

I'm absolutely going to have my love affair with the head coach who has us at 11-1, has led our offense to 30+ points in 10 out of 12 games, and has led us to back-to-back division titles and winning seasons after not accomplishing either since 2003.

Also, if McVay has such an infatuation with the pass, how were we 7th in the NFL in rushing attempts coming into today?(and with how much we ran it today, I don't imagine we dropped) How do we have the NFL's leading rusher?

I am grateful for what we have. Do you know how many other teams would kill to have our HC? Do you know how many offenses would kill to have him calling plays? The man isn't perfect. There's no such thing as a perfect coach. But he is the best damn play-caller in the NFL. He might be the best damn head coach in the NFL. We'll see on that.

To expect us to always blow out teams is unrealistic. This is the NFL. It’s hard to win as it is. Sometimes a team has to overcome adversity and win these types of games. Especially on the road. Good football teams find ways to win. We’re a great football team. Not perfect. No team is.
But random fan’s play calling ideas are clearly better than some coach who only has at 11-1 - don’t you think? Why doesn’t McVay just see it? Hell.... Fish would have run the ball in some of those situations.

Obviously not pointing this at you Young Ram.

I think Goff May have gotten his bell rung on the play he fumbled. It was a pretty blatant shot to the head. Now, let’s hope it isn’t 0 degrees next Sunday night in Chicago.

What a tough crowd. No respect. No respect at all. I tell you, my first tub toy was a toaster.....

Realistically, You can't be "on" every week. This would be a week the team was down. We just got through playing the game of the year. And next week we play another division leader. And this week.....we had the 4-7 Lions. (And they had the 10-1 Rams.....their possible Cinderella story into a possible playoff run....we were their last chance.....) And they played their best ball and we didn't. But we still got out of town w/ a 2 score win. Go back 2 + years and see if that happens to the Rams. Perfection is always desired but rarely achieved. Luckily we do has some good pieces in place when you are a bit further away from perfection.

Right on, great comment. In keeping with your comments even the Greatest Show on Turf in 1999 wasn't on every week as that amazing team did take a couple of losses in the middle of the season, including a loss to the Lions. Today, IMHO it was really just Goff who looked like he didn't get enough sleep as his throws were unusually off target.

Don’t be so obtuse.
It should be obvious to anyone with a brain that there are several posters in this thread who should be NFL coaches.

And we’ll all miss them when they’re hired next year - (or maybe even next week in Green Bay.)

Please know that your analyses will be missed. :palm:

I wasn’t there (almost lol) at the time, but I believe the expression “These are times that try men’s souls” was coined during the Revilutionary War.
Not having been there, I can no way empathize with the circumstances drving this sentiment, though with a little contextual adjustment, I certainly understand it, and can only come to the inevitabltly sad realization that nothing ever really changes.

Except of course subject matter, the declining intelligence of those screaming chicken little and their insatiable desire to no be thought a fool, but to open their mouths, and by giving voice to these/their opinions, remove all doubt.

Please get a life - you’ll be way happier in the long run - I promise you.

West Coast teams lagging when traveling east for the 1 o’clock time slot has been too proven. Saying the coach doesn’t have the team ready doesn’t apply very well here.

Had this been a home game, then maybe there’s a point to be made or a reasonable debate to be had...but even then, after a win?

We’re blessed to score 30 on an off day. To counter the coach point...it’s undoubtedly because of McVay that this was possible.

Yeah in 1999 we lost to the Lions despite us being the ones with the tackle-eligible TD. Then later blew it alowing a conversion of a 4th and 26th. Not this time though... we end with a defensive pick!

Anyway I've seen this before with good Rams teams since the mid-70s... there's always going to be a few games where they play well enough to win.

I think this was the first EARLY morning game the team played all season. Off a bye, travelling east. I expected a slow start. Sometimes elite teams will play down to the level of their competition. Good to know this team is good enough to overcome poor starts.

But they ARE playing with fire if they continue to do it. I'm not so sure McVay isn't keeping some of the playbook closed until the postseason. The jetsweep action/ pitchouts/tosses and other stuff we saw at the start of the season haven't been called as frequently in recent weeks.

I'm confident in his in-game adjustments. We'll be fine. Shit, remember we were PRAYING for .500 just a few years ago? Come on, fellas.... remember where we came from.

Yes, a sluggish performance at times but the Defense made the big plays and after all, didn't we Rams fans expect to our D to be our strength. So who's complaining! Not me.

The only problem I saw was Goff was high on his throws all day.

His reads were excellent he just couldn't put the ball on a dime like normal.

Then he probably tried to OVER compensate and it got all weird.

It happens. I think we are a little spoiled with how consistent Goff is because today he was off.

It may have been the early game. His mind and body are used to the late games.

I can’t believe our coach has only gotten us to 11-1. You can throttle every team in the league if you only have your players ready to play. Every play will work and no defense can stop anything you do. Man our coach sucks. I’m tired of sugar coating it. The honeymoon is over. He’s into his second whole year as a head coach and doesn’t know everything. What in THE hell is taking him so long. FFS! I mean we could have lost this game if we didn’t win it by 14. 30 points? What the freak is that? You should be able to do that in your sleep in this league. The experiment is over. McVay needs to either get his crap together or we need to move on.

That about cover it or did I miss some form of idiocy in there somewhere? Lovely thread. Glad everyone feels better for it.
