I really hope Baker will stick around. McVay is the sort of dude who can help him right his career. Baker has game.

What happened?
Just a boring football game.... Until the last 2 minutes... Mayfield went 98 yards, w/zero timeouts and hit Van Jeff in stride for a TD with 9 seconds left to tie it.... Ho hum....

Suddenly, Stafford retiring with injury designation, may not be the worst thing in the world.
I'd love for Stafford to return for another year and Mayfield sign a 2 year contract as a back up with the understanding opportunity is right there to be the heir apparent. Give it another go with Stafford next year and let him ride off into the sunset forever a superbowl champ.

Exactly my thoughts. I also think it incentivizes Sean to stick around with us as opposed to potentially retiring. Who really knows if that was a possibility, but the addition of a QB you know Sean is stoked about certainly feels good.

Mayfield connecting with Skowronek, Atwell, and Trammel better than Stafford in a short period of time

Hoping Kupp doesn't give him tunnel vision when he's healthy

I've seen enough... Let's sign him to a 5yr deal.... I e always liked Baker. What happened in Carolina?

Both Darnold and Baker were trading being injured.
Neither quarterback could get in a rhythm.

Darnold did look a little better when he was in there.
They had to let one quarterback go.

Inconsistency and maturity is what got Mayfield tossed out of Cleveland.

I'm sure he's matured somewhat and hopefully he's ready to be more consistent.

IMO, I believe Mayfield has rejuvenated McVay and I also believe they are a good match. More games to play, but let's hope the OL can hold up and everyone else steps up their game moving forward.

Still a lot of season left to play so going to be a little reserved in thinking Mayfield is any kind of long term answer here but god damn did he show what can be last night. Him and McVay are a great matchup and they will feed off each other both in practice and in games which could help keep McVay interested long term also. Mayfield is only 27, even if Stafford decides to give it one more year he won't be 30 if Stafford decides to retire. He'd be in his QB prime with a QB friendly coach. Not to mention his personality would make him a lot of money in LA outside of playing football I'd imagine. Think of the SoFi is his home commercials progressive could bring back!! lol

Optimism in such a shitty season is a very, very nice thing to have again though. I'm excited for these last four games!

After losing 6games in a row we all wanted something good to happen and it did but I still don’t know about him as a starter after this year. A guy at his size needs to be exceptional athletically and he’s not. Mayfield could hold it down until we found the next guy but I don’t think it’s him. Sure, McVay could scheme around his limitations but we’ve been down that road before.

Way too small of a sample size to read into it, but I'd be lying if I said that thought did not enter the back of my mind, as well....
