I'm still not sold on Dart.
Fair. Neither am I, though I like the idea of him sitting behind Stafford and as a fit for the system. I presume that system means he will need time in the cooker.

What I struggle with is what I'd do at 26 if he's sitting there. Probably take a TE or CB but I want McVay to have a QB to pour into. I suspect he'll stick around longer if there's a guy on the depth chart he likes.

There are a couple others in this draft I am intrigued with though, for that redshirt treatment. Howard in particular, who I also think will rise on draft day.

Eh, next year's QB class looks more promising. But if Howard is there in the 3rd, I'd consider him.

That they can be very competitive, even with shitty QB play. You suggested that Jimmy could maybe squeeze out a .500 season, as a ceiling.
This argument seems to extrapolate a whole season from 3 games when look at what we needed from Stafford and got in the other games of the season (of which I don't think Garoppolo can provide).

I haven't really looked at the CBs and typically don't much during the draft but there could be some good TE's available between 26 and 40 that could add a dimension to our offense that would be pretty great.

Ideally, I'd love a big fast X receiver to fall into our laps, but there won't be one there and outside of McMillian, not sure there is one.

Stafford had 9 games with a QB rating of 85 or lower.

It sounds like Snead thinks the roster will peak in 3 years and he doesn’t want them to play that season with a rookie QB.

I still think they’ll get something worked out with Stafford but I do agree with Breer, they’ve got a lot of stuff they’ve gotta get squared away first. It’s not as simple as them wanting him back and him wanting to come back.

Yeah, just confirming what many of us have been saying. More for those who don't understand why it's possible he could be dealt.

The alternative to address the timeline issue while keeping Stafford is to draft a QB this year, if they like one like a Dart, or reach later for Howard or McCord, and let the kid sit behind Stafford. Maybe you get lucky and you develop a gem. Of course this limits there ability to add a player that will contribute this year.

BTW, this kid has peaked my interest. Looked good in the senior bowl and he has the athleticism & measurable's. Was considered a late rounder, but could be moving up into late day 2 early day 3. The main knock on him is that he has struggled with injuries.

I think multiple things can be true at once.

Stafford did not play as well as he did last year (last year was maybe one of his best years playing) or in years past (and it's okay to worry about him slowing down).

Rams had a terrific level of injuries that affected Staffords' play at WR and Oline.

Kupp, when healthy, wasn't the Kupp of old and a guy who - not dominate against man coverage - could at least offer options against it no longer could help there so teams hammer Stafford with man coverage and he didn't really have any answers out of an occasional play by Nacua.

There is not QB out there, on our bench or in the draft that can offer a chance to win it all next year (and most likely no the following year) like Stafford can. Though again, he's a risk as he gets older.

Infinite, what would be your answer to QB next year?

Yes he's a QB that was being closely looked at during the Senior Bowl. I haven't had a chance to look at some of his vids but will do so now.

No matter how the negotiations go Im sure his dopey wife will let us all know about it.
Basically it sounds like if Kupp is gone, he wants out too. If he dont get paid he wants out, but he dont want Kupp gone. Lots of Drama going on. I for one dont want either Matt or Kupp gone, but dont just trade them for pennies and dont get any FA or something to "replace" them.

Stafford is one of the top five QBs in the league. He’s the face of the Rams. We were one play away from the NFC chipper. Do you really think he wants to uproot his family, put his girls in new schools in a new city, leave the LA lifestyle, and go to a shitty team where he might not have the rapport with the coaches and players like he does with the Rams just for a few million dollars more? I mean, how much money does a guy need? I’ll be sick enough if Kupp leaves. If Matthew leaves, this team loses its identity. You need an elite QB to win the Super Bowl in this day and age and we have one who has proven it time and time again. Pay the man and let’s move on.

With the Giants picking #3, Ward may not be there.
Not a ward Fan ? Saw the game he lost I think GT? He had everything & all the chances to prove he is an NFL QB ? I have way to many doubts after that.

I love Stafford and I love watching him play in horns. BUT...I think McVay has become too enamored with Stafford's arm-talent and I think it may inhibit his creativity.

When Goff was here, at least in the first few years, the plays looked different. Receivers were schemed wide open with lots of YAC and the screen game was strong, even without Gurley. The plays had a unique feel to them that seems to have vanished in the past 4 years. What we have now is much more pedestrian and not explosive at all and often relies on Matthew threading a needle with the ball.

I think a lesser qb (Jimmie G., Darnold, Zach Wilson...hell, even Daniel Jones) would bring back McVay's imagination with the offense and may be an overall improvement.

Then again, I drink a lot.
Yeah - it’s Kool-aide time.

Watching Jimmy G play really seemed like the play calling was different.

Last year Wentz didn’t look that good imo ? We don’t have much to go on.

Exactly, if Hall was so great and influential why was he not on McVay's staff?

Bored fans and misguided fans fuel this junk.
Yeah - but it has been feed to us !!

At this time I wouldn’t mined What’s her name write an article on her thoughts??? Make the call when the time is right ??

Jourdan it’s TIME ??? Then again what does she know ??

My whole thing is Mcvay left us with that & what happened last year can’t & won’t happen again.

Don’t know the time line & Mattew needs to figure it out.Maybe NY is good for him. It’s his LEGACY!!! Kelly opens up the idea ,because it’s there choice.

The Rams are getting rid of Cooper & that changes a lot .What happens to him ? Which direction do The Rams go & how much longer will Stafford play at a high level ? My biggest concern is injury? He’s tough, but The NFL does not protect him like they should !! SAD
