People around here love Goff so much they dont think Stafford is a better QB?? Wake up Stafford is A LOT better and you will see.
Our first round picks will be late 1st rounders anyways its not like we'll be in the top 25. And what did you think it would cost to get rid of Goff's terrible contract? A LOT.
But now we have a legit difference maker at QB that has some of the best arm talent in the NFL. Pairing him with McVay will be fireworks.

If Shanahan wanted Stafford badly, and a few other teams were reported to then that obviously drove the price up. The Rams two first round picks may be 31 or 32.
So the lions traded for what is essentially two second round picks, if things work out the way McVay obviously thinks they will.
Throw in that trading a first round pick a year from the coming draft is looked at as more of a second round pick. If it’s 31 or 32 it’s more of a third round pick.
Either way McVay didn’t think things were salvageable with Goff. Maybe they feel that once he got paid, he slacked off a bit. Seems that way to me. Stafford on the other hand has worked his butt off despite being on a shit team his entire career

I'm having trouble seeing how Stafford improves the Rams' offense enough to win a Super Bowl. I'm not even certain he will improve it at all.
All in all, something BIG must've either happened behind scenes or been brewing for awhile.
I have always LOVED Stafford, and to me it's a legit upgrade.

For those saying this deal gets Watson, I disagree. I think it would have needed another 1st. Which begs the question... if we were willing to give up these assets, why not just go 1 pick further, and get Deshaun.

Something tells me the guys who actually played the football would disagree with that statement. The GSOT had a great run. And then poof, we were a shit franchise. I trusted the FO. I trusted the coaching staff. That isn't true anymore. This is the straw that broke the camel's back.

As it stands we would have to pay Stafford $1.25m more than Goff next season, but then we'd save $8m over Goff in 2022. I'm sure Stafford will be willing to restructure that and move some of that $8m savings to 2021.
The Rams, who havent had a 1st round draft pick since 2016, wont have another one until the year 2024
And the 2015 + 2016 picks who are no longer on the team will cost over 30 mill in cap space
