Matt Stafford Traded to Rams

Now that I know we got rid of Goffs contract, I kinda like the trade. 2 first seems like alot, but like other have said, if this team continues to win, those late firsts are not that big of a deal. Stafford is also not worse than Goff. Anyone who is saying that is not being honest and speaking out of emotion, which I understand.

I agree with you wholeheartedly that our line is worse than the 2.5 second number would lead you to believe. And it’s not our line as a whole it’s mostly Blythe being THAT BAD. I believe it’s the reason our line ranks better than you’d expect and plays worse than the numbers. Overall as a unit ...not bad when healthy but when the center gives up pressure as quickly Blythe does it’s kinda irrelevant that whitworth pancakes his guy.

That being said the 2.5 number is pocket time and is not affected by roll outs. How do I know? I made the same mistake you did and was proven wrong. I figured I’d let ya know before one of these jerks try’s to rub your nose in it. The 2.5 is inflated because we run play action so much.

Ok and you are completely correct that is almost entirely on Blythe. I have been calling out Blythe for almost the entire year.

Stafford won't be able to do anything with the Rams unless they get a big upgrade at center.

He will be taking more sacks than Goff if they don't improve the center position.

I have a huge Lion fan at work and he can't stand Stafford.

He says a lot of times in past years, Stafford just threw it up for grabs and Megatron would go up for it and come down with it.

And as for Stafford stats being better than Goff - that's because he is the one and only Stat Padford.

Goff never got to pad his stats with McVay.

I have seen Goff make that same exact pass when he has time like Stafford had.

You haven't seen Goff complete a no look pass in between 3 defenders in the endzone. Video or it didn't happen.

I love the trade. Two first rounders are late. Ok. I can deal with that. The guys find value deeper in the draft anyway. I would have liked to have got some late round picks back for it but I do get that the contract being traded off the books is a big deal.
Quarterback for Quarterback I love what we got here. Stafford is gonna be an absolute weapon. I know he's had injury concerns the past few years but theres no reason he can't play 10 more years like Rodgers, Brady, Brees.

Yeah, right there with you! I aged an extra five years through the majority of the 90s. My wife started to doubt me, always shaking my head watching the games. But I will get excited for our new to us QB. We will BRING IT!

This could honestly be a Robert Woods type pickup. McVay inherited Goff but when he had a chance to look around the league and see how other QBs were performing despite their circumstances this is the guy he chose.

Woods' stats were nothing to brag about in Buffalo but the talent was clearly there and we ended up with a bargain. Stafford's stats don't look like much but everyone in the league recognizes his talent and he could be a superstar in LA, who knows?

Oh, I remember when we signed Woods and some folks were super upset, thinking he was a below average receiver... some folks were super harsh.

Also, I get thinking this might be a bad deal and might not work out for us, but seeing as this is the off-season, what I don't get is why everyone isn't hoping it works out famously...

Bro I feel your pain trust me I do. I thought we shoulda saved our picks and rolled with Goff 1 more year and if he looked the same as this year than move on. Maybe Snead and McVay saw a unique opportunity with a proven commodity being available that might not have been next year? Idk. I do know the optics of this trade will probably not come back to bite us now though because Goff is in freakin Detroit. Hard to sustain success there

The no look part I agree with but throwing between defenders was something Goff did on a regular basis when he had time.
