I can handle whatever you throw out.

Just seems odd that on a Rams board, and the Dodger section, a Yankee fan needs to come here and talk shit

You do you bud. Enjoy those titles from 1940s and 50s.
Who's talking shit? I'm simply talking facts. And obviously, those facts bother you!! Come on man, don't be so thin skinned.

Titles from the 40's and 50's? LMFAO!!!

You can take your pappy, his pappy and his pappy and combined you 4 have seen 9 Dodger championships. I've seen 7 Yankee titles since 1977. LMAO!!! Enjoy those titles from the 40's and 50's!!! That's a hoot.

This guy is a Blue Jay fan!?!?!?! LOL LOL

That World Series will be in his head for ever!!!!!!
Yep and yep.

I don't know if the players will accept a hard cap. But if they do its gonna come with a salary floor. There are a number of teams who can afford to pay more than they do but they prefer the profits over winning.
There should be a salary floor. And those teams who don't pay more because they prefer profits will have more profits with better revenue sharing, to prefer. So there's that.

Agreed. As a fan of a team who currently has the lowest player salary in 2026 (Cardinals - but honestly, I see it more because of the rebuild/youth movement than being cheap; they did pay Wetherholt and will almost certainly pay Walker and maybe even Winn.), there needs to be a very high floor (I'd say around $150/175 million dollars at absolute minimum). There also has to be a lower ceiling (200/250 million dollars at absolute maximum) for there to be any competitive balance.

And if the cheap owners don't like it, they can sell to someone who will pay the salaries.

I like a lot of the things the owners have bandied during the talks: an international draft to stamp out the corruption, no more high school kids in the draft (but having two-year college players be eligible in response), trading draft picks (and only being able to trade a first only twice every three years and no team having more than three first-round picks). I really like one of the things the players bandied during the talks: the ability for more immediate free agency for players who are thirty or over and still in arbitration.

But without a hard cap, ceiling and floor alike, it won't matter one iota how good the ideas are, and neither side is apparently willing to budge. It could potentially kill baseball for good if the lockout proceeds, especially more than one year.

Been a fan since 79, the year I was born.
Wait a minute!!!! So you're only 47? That means you've seen 5 Dodger Championships if you were advanced enough to watch at age 2. And you're talking shit about Yankee Championships from the 40's and 50's? LMFAO!!!!! As Tom Jackson used to say, "Come On Man!!!!"

In the meantime we got a championship to chase after. Dodgers are favorites by quite a bit. They're in the same boat the Rams are. Anything less than a championship is a disappointment. In football the better team usually wins. That isn't always the case in baseball. Its who gets hot at the right time.

I hope you make the World Series and I hope the Yankees make it too. Would love to see a payback keeping you from getting that 3 in a row!!!! Who knows? It could happen either way.

Yup and been to 7 world series games live since 17
How many you been to?

This is the Golden Age of Dodger baseball and we are living in it.

Yankee fan crying poverty, now THATS rich.

SKUBAL Day!

LMAO. If they don't have the highest salaries, how did they get to #2 in payroll? They're paying a .240 hitter with 9 homers 57 million dollars. They're paying a .226 hitter with 13 homers, 30 million. That's 87 mil for .233 and 22 homers. There aren't many teams (any?) in MLB who can afford that.
So what you’re saying with the bolded is that there is another team (GASP - oh the horror) that outspent the Dodgers? If even on paper and for a season, how could that possibly happen?

You’re also saying that money doesn’t always buy good players.

So what is it? Is it possible that there is a bias against the Dodgers’ success? Nah. Can’t be.

Bottom line is that several teams are capable of spending but either won’t, will have to be forced to, or will spend with little to show for it. San Diego, I’m talking to you.

Man do I feel bad that my team is the Dodgers.

And for the knuckleheads in the back of the class, I went to my first Dodgers game when I was 5 back in ‘67. Been a Trolly Dodger fan ever since.

So WTF does that mean?

BTW, you didn't hear me crying poverty. I'm realistic. And I know what an advantage the Yankees had during Steinbrenner's reign. Which is exactly why I know you're full of shit and can't admit the same about your Dodgers. :laugh4: Dude, I enjoyed back to back in 77/78, three in a row from 98-00, with a record 14 straight WS games won (top that), 96 and 2009. Ain't nothing the Dodgers do for you can surpass that. So enjoy your fantasyland superiority.

I was 25 when I finally watched a Dodger championship. And that was in the strike shortened 1981 season. The 1988 championship was probably the most satisfying. No one saw that coming until Gibson hit that homerun off the best reliever in baseball. Against the best team in baseball.

Not saying any of that. See my post above ^^^^^^^^. I say, I know what having an unfair advantage is like as Steinbrenner gave it to Yankee fans for years. I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn't give a shit if it ruined baseball or not. It was fun. You're enjoying the same thing now, as many Dodger fans, but you don't want to admit to that advantage. Instead you guys will talk about that fine farm system, etc. etc. In my memory the Dodgers ALWAYS had a superior farm system. So how did that work out from 1989 to 2017? The current owners realized that farm system didn't mean shit if you didn't spend the money. That's all.

So go to a yankees board dude.

Not sure why you need to post here.

Its like a Seahawk or Patiort fan coming here and talking junk.

Or after that beat down in 24 every Jabroni in NY jumped ship???

Not sure his owner is cheap. They have the 5th highest payroll behind the Mets, Dodgers, Yankees and Phillies. So it doesn't sound like a cheap owner is the reason they're in last place. Sounds more like lousy scouting and coaching. After what the Dodgers did to them last year and how this season's turning out, I can understand him being salty.
Yep. That’s kind of what I was getting at. He kept coming up with all these “facts” to back up his saltiness. It just made me laugh.

Toronto spent plenty of money if money was all it would take. They even offered Ohtani the same deal the Dodgers offered. Hell. Several teams did. Several teams offered Yams a deal on par with the Dodgers. Virtually every team could have offered a better deal to get Skibos, etc etc etc.

I’d be a bit salty too if players were choosing to play for another team over mine. But they’re not. As they say. Too bad, so sad. NOT.

Go Dodgers! Blue is for October.

I'm a RAM fan. ROD is RAMS on demand, not Dodgers on Demand. It's a Rams board with a Dodgers THREAD. If you can't take the heat maybe you ought to post somewhere else.

There is Yankees board. Go hang there....

I'm sorry. I'll leave you alone. Having your shorts in a knot is not a good look. Here's a tip. If you don't like what I have to say, they don't engage, particularly if it's going to bother you so much. Just say "no, I won't engage. I'm not emotionally equipped to handle the adversity". Dude, it's sports we're talking about here. Not life saving or saving the earth type shit. It's sports. RELAX.

The alternative is start a Dodgers board yourself and don't allow any other members. That way, nobody will disagree with you and you won't get all flustered.

Not true. Bad ownership virtually destroyed the Dodgers system. That was one of the things that this ownership vowed to correct.

And even though the Dodgers and their fans do enjoy advantages, the fact is that other teams have spent and will spend with lower success rates. The Dodger advantage is a fact. Now you can either stick it in your pocket or do everything in your power to win. They choose the latter.

I have nothing against you or your team. I refer to them as the Evil Empire because of the Steinbrenner years. But it’s in jest. One of my best friends is a Yankme fan - tattoo and all. He grew up in NY. It’s all cool.

I just get bored and a bit annoyed with all the Dodgers are ruining baseball talk. It’s pretty lame. I’m not saying that’s you. But I mostly hear it from either SF fans or fans of teams that constantly undermine their own chances at success.

It’s what I always hope for honestly. Dodgers v Yankme WS just says baseball to me.
