But he does have a point, no? MLB wanted McCourt out so bad, the Dodgers ended up getting a huge break with respect to the amount of money they have to pay MLB in revenue sharing for their TV deal. I've read it saved them close to 66 mil per year. That's got nothing to do with scouting and development, etc. In a cap-less league, that's 66 mil more on top of the advantage they hold over other teams because of their market.

Here's a way to look at it. The Yankees and Dodgers have similar markets. The Yankees pay 100 mil in revenue sharing for their TV deal with YES Network, the Dodgers pay about 28 mil. That's some advantage over the Yankees (72 mil) and exponentially more over teams like Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, etc.

Baseball needs a HARD cap and a much stronger revenue sharing plan. Then it's popularity will soar.

That dude absolutely fits the description of "any Dodgers fan that says otherwise is either a liar, some bandwagoner who wasn't a fan of the team in 2012, or just willfully ignorant" so wasting your typing on him, regardless of how factual your argument is, is a fool's errand.

The Dodgers get away with doing things other teams simply cannot do and it's ridiculous when their fans pretend otherwise. It's even more ridiculous to remember that back-to-back ownership groups that were nothing but putrid incompetence paved the way for the Dodgers recent prosperity.

By all rights they should still be the festering pile they were back when News Corp ran the joint.

All y'all can be quiet about money: my Cardinals are at the bottom in total team salary and are still rolling strong. :P

A vacuous response that doesn't refute the facts. Again, point out the ridiculous deal the Dodgers got in 2012 (one that no other team in the league has) and their fans just scream, full-throated, "HATERR348237482394233UISWGHFUSBFLSDFKSDNJFKDASBNFS!!!!!!" like some screeching mental cases.

Like I said, looking forward to the lockout.

Pretty funny. I guess you mistake me for someone who gives a fuck about all your bullshit. As long as my team is within the rules, I’m always wanting them to win - PERIOD. None of us have any control over the minutia. So have fun with that. I know I am.

Lol, again, not bullshit. Demonstrable facts. But carry on.

I hope you aint referring to me pal.

Been a fan since 79, the year I was born.

Been to MANY games home and away, watch all games on TV. Went to game 3 and 4 of the WS in LA last year, among other WS games.

So go pound sand and take it somewhere else buddy, maybe replay game 7 in the Sky Dome and enjoy.

And lets take a step back a little. I know the last 4 games sucked....BUT

Since the all Star-Break before that stretch..... They took series in Philly, NYM, and NYY, and Seattle.

Its the dog days, this happens EVERY year, we'll come out on the other side.

Skubal, Snell, Smith, Glasnow all coming back soon......

I couldn't care less. I hate the Dodgers. Fuck them and the completely dishonest way Dodgers fans pretend like every other team can just do what they do.

Or am I just imagining the billions in sheltered money the Dodgers have been gifted thanks to that fraud McCourt? The idea every team can do what the Dodgers do is a complete joke, and any Dodgers fan that says otherwise is either a liar, some bandwagoner who wasn't a fan of the team in 2012, or just willfully ignorant.
Speaking of ignorant. Sorry i read this and your other comments in this thread.

I would agree with the Dodgers having a TV advantage but the problem is they do not have the highest salaries.

They are up there but there is another team that has a higher salary.

He can hate the Dodgers all he wants but he is completely wrong with what he says.

There are a bunch of teams that have high salaries. But the Dodgers also have one of the best minor leagues as well.

Look at all the pitchers the Dodgers had to bring up since the free agents they got are hurt.

The reason they have been able to sign Free Agents is not because they pay the most but that players want to play for the Dodgers.

Some of the Dodger free agents were offered more money by other teams.

LMAO. If they don't have the highest salaries, how did they get to #2 in payroll? They're paying a .240 hitter with 9 homers 57 million dollars. They're paying a .226 hitter with 13 homers, 30 million. That's 87 mil for .233 and 22 homers. There aren't many teams (any?) in MLB who can afford that.

Wow! Struck a nerve? Something wrong with an honest discussion? I put up with the same complaints about the Yankees for 35 years or more (some from Dodger fans) and I didn't tell people to stop posting. You can't handle it for 2 years? Here's an idea. Don't respond if you can't handle it. Keep your head in the sand. Yes, the Dodgers are awesome. They don't have an unfair advantage. They're just so much better than the other 29 franchises. :bigcry:Wow, 9 Championships? You guys are awesome!!!!!

I can handle whatever you throw out.

Just seems odd that on a Rams board, and the Dodger section, a Yankee fan needs to come here and talk shit

You do you bud. Enjoy those titles from 1940s and 50s.

Not sure why anyone should be mad at the Dodgers. The only thing they are guilty of is wanting to win. Until every team opens the books we will never really know how much money these owners make. Since I only have a 2nd grade education I am going to do 2nd grade math. The lowest revenue generating teams still make money. Tampa for example get paid 60M annually from the MLB local revenue stream....all teams get this. When combined with the baseline national revenue distributions that every team splits evenly (roughly $90 million), the Rays pocket a total estimated shared-fund baseline of $150 million or more per year before accounting for their own stadium-generated local income. So worst case every team rolls out of bed and make $150M not including ticket sales and concessions. There payroll is just under $90M leaving them a $60M profit. My point is all things can be true. Shame on team who wont compete like Tampa. They could of trade for Skubal and let him walk as a FA but refused. How many millions of dollars could of been generated in playoff gate money to see him pitch? Dodgers gave up nothing to get Skubal so how nobody beat that offer is crazy to me and that includes my team the Red Sox. Look at the trades the Sox made, every player they acquired has term left so they have controlable salaries. The Red Sox dumped 1/2 of their top prospects for meh....but lucky us, we have team salary control on these mediocare players.

The Red Sox, Yankees, Phillies and Rays for example allowing the Dodgers to win the Skubal trade is shameful.

The problem with baseball is there teams running things like a private equity firm and not like a baseball team trying to win championships. Professional sports ownership is a fucking cash register that never shuts.

Yes the Dodgers have more money than every other team but not an excuse to let them make a trade like they did.

That being said, it was fun watching the AAAA Red Sox sweep the mighty Dodgers in their own backyard :)

Cry more buddy.

Maybe scout better, develop players better, draw over 4M fans, be a place where marquee players WANT to go, have a HOF manager, have the best pitcher who stayed with ONE team his ENTIRE career.

You got a cheap owner whoever the heck you root for....

Now stay off the Dodger board.
Not sure his owner is cheap. They have the 5th highest payroll behind the Mets, Dodgers, Yankees and Phillies. So it doesn't sound like a cheap owner is the reason they're in last place. Sounds more like lousy scouting and coaching. After what the Dodgers did to them last year and how this season's turning out, I can understand him being salty.

I don't know if the players will accept a hard cap. But if they do its gonna come with a salary floor. There are a number of teams who can afford to pay more than they do but they prefer the profits over winning.
