Stoops/Sleights probably the obvious answer but don’t sleep on Kenny Loggins Jr. Mr Top Gun was beast asf these last two years. Guy has experience and some talent.

Yeah Loggins is on the highway to the danger zone. Can't go with him.

Stoops has that body control but I read in the other thread his only hope is joining the coaching staff.

So...

For me it is Omar Spieghts the ILBer from LSU, dude can flat out play and will lay the wood to you. Plus, I saw this as a position of weakness going into this draft, needed someone to pair with Jones and Roseboom is not the answer.
You have convinced me. :beer2::woozy2:

Speights should have a good chance. But I figured we'd keep at least one of the UDFAs we signed last year...and we didn't keep any ...not even on the practice squad....

I mean at no level of football has Rozenboom had highlights where's he's flashed like this

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78bFZa6ifZo

but he knows our system I guess.... I just don't see where he's showed anything to earn that starting spot playing actual defensive snaps in real games before we gave it to him.... He and Skrow should be leading our special teams...

but yeah....Speights should make the squad.... He's good in pass coverage

Rozenboom just continues to improve .on special teams he won’t

If I'm not mistaken, Reeder was recently released.
Unless you have updated information, they resigned him back on April 11th.

The Los Angeles Rams announced on Thursday that they will re-sign linebacker Troy Reeder to a new deal.

Reeder only started in six games this past season for the Rams and tallied 23 total tackles, as he mainly played special teams. But that does not mean that he couldn't have a bigger role on the defense this season.

He signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Delaware, and was a starter for the team when they won the Super Bowl. He tallied two sacks in the big game, but left to go to the Los Angeles Chargers the following season.

Thanks for The UDRFA list.Glad they add to The LBer group. It is a need for depth. From what I gather is The Rams are comfortable with Reeder & Rozenboom.

Troy Reeder is just a good veteran player who knows the system & solid on special teams. He has to work hard to make the roster.

Rosenboom & Reeder are at OTA’s working hard.Rozenboom from photos looks in great shape.

The guy who Sean Mcvay really seems to LOVE is Q. Lake .He has BULKED UP & going to be that Mark Barron type of DB/LB type that will create a Hybred player in Shula’s system.

Shula was The Rams(everything) LBer coach last season and those players are players he trust in his system.I will say I wanted a you STUD like Payton Wilson & sort of excited on how well he does in Pittsburg which is a perfect place for him .

Reeder needs to work on his speed & explosion. He does an excellent job of knowing down & distance, but needs to be able to make those plays without giving up those extra yards.

Also the TE, Neal Johnson from Louisiana....I think he has a chance to stick if he shows well. 3rd TE is wide open until Higbee comes back.
He's going to have to out play Miller Forristall (Alabama) and Hunter Long

Speights has the least high level competition and the biggest need in terms of adding not only ILB depth but STs depth.

I certainly can see johnson making the practice squad.

He improved.. but his ceiling isn't high enough to remain a starter IMO ... once one of these ILBs who where starters, defensive captains on teams playing tough competition in college get an actual chance to compete for a job.

So who is that (those) players ?
Being a NFL player who is 27 has no upside & his experience doesn’t
Count ? WTF would you say a player is in his prime. In baseball as an example you have to play 6 Years before you become a FA ? That is when a player gets his Biggest contract.

I agree in one sense about your thought process in a lot of ways.In Rozenbooms I’d say he has good upside because The Game slowed down for him.

My question to you as a Ram Fan who wants to have doubts, would be did you ever see him where he improved last season ?? Fair question.I’ve watched a lot of football & was a big doubter, but I see(hear) things that have changed my view of Rozenbooms upside.

I don't want to have doubts.... I'd rather not even be thinking about the ILB that lines up opposite EJ. But here we are.....again. It's just very frustrating to know that the season where the Rams kept 2 ILBs on the field longer than we do now, we had the #1 defense in the NFL. What makes it even more frustrating is that during that season where we ended with the #1 Defense in the NFL, our starting ILBs were Kenny Young, and Micah Kiser..... then an undrafted Troy Reeder when Kiser got hurt. Not exactly 3 great ILBs...but solid players in a solid scheme. Look.... I understand the diminished value of ILBs...but I just believe we've gone too far. I'd feel better about Rozenboom if I could actually point to some on-the-field, non-special teams play that actually earned him his spot. But we shouldn't forget when we initially cut Rozenboom, he was only a special teams guy.....we brought him back from the Kansas City Chiefs PRACTICE SQUAD to add depth due to injuries. Again, brought back from a PRACTICE SQUAD to add depth due to injuries. We didn't bring him back because of anything he had done in a real football game. We drafted EJ....we traded Kenny Young...Kiser never really came back from his injury.... We won a Super Bowl with Reeder and EJ... We let Reeder walk...and who do we bring in to fill his spot....NOBODY. We elevate Rozenboom to a starting spot...based on NOTHING that happened in a game that counts with him playing ILB.

I'm not making up out of thin air a scenario I'd like the Rams to follow.... I just wish we stuck with the same plan that has worked previously.... Corey Littleton was on the practice squad, made plays on special teams, got a chance and showed he was a worthy starter leading us to an NFC title.... Kiser was developed, got his chance, and made plays in games starting at ILB....I believe he got defensive player of the week the first game he started in the NFL. Troy Reeder was undrafted, made plays....made plays in games as a rookie, earned his spot, and won a super bowl with us. Travin Howard...drafted, developed...made plays on the field, earned a starting spot but never got to take advantage of it because he got hurt in training camp before the season started. But again, Travin made plays in NFL games even before his INT in the NFC title game.

We've had a formula that's worked...that's what I would prefer we would have stuck with. Last years group of UDFAs ...in my opinion had the potential to develop the same way Kiser, Littleton, and Reeder did. Ryan Smenda, DeAndre Square, Kelechi Anyalebechi, Jaiden Woodbey.... there was some talent in that group that to me would have been worth stashing on the practice squad. But not only did Rozenboom get to sit out the preseason....again, after being given a starting job without doing ANYTHING in a real game as an ILB.... we didn't keep any of those young ILBs on the practice squad.

I just don't see what Rozenboom brought to the table where we should have avoided the strategy that worked for us in the past.

bottom line is even if Rozenboom improved during the season, he was our worst defensive starter according to PFF grades. That shouldn't surprise anyone who watched the games last year. If EJ goes down...we are screwed. Not only do we need a solid player to play next to him, we'd need a decent replacement if he got hurt, and currently we don't have that. Hummel has flashed a bit, Reeder is back again....but my real hope is that Olakunle Fatukasi, Omar Speights, or Elias Neal show enough to at least stick around on the practice squad to get the type of development Littleton, Kiser and Reeder got.

I feel like Josh Wallace has a fair shot to stick at CB. Not impossible competition to beat out.
Yeap .... let's just hope he's not as slow as Kendrick...... I think he ran a 4.68/40 at his Pro day or Combine

Do you think we tried to trade up to 95, 96, 97, 98 to get Payton Wilson once he started dropping? Picking him up would have solved all these "problems" we've had finding a 2nd LB.

I think now that we have solidified most areas of the roster, we can finally next year draft a 2nd LB and make the defense that much better.
