Would advise any of the current ILB's on the roster not to feel comfortable about spots on the roster after the draft. Going to be a fight for starters and backups. Obo, Kiser were 5th round picks a few drafts ago and have a new DC that did not draft them.

Then maybe the LBer from TT ?
TT?o_OTexas Tech ? Jordan Brooks?

If you're thinking of him then I see him as a very similar LB'er to a Ram we already have now with Micah Kiser. Does Jordan Brooks have the versatility to be what Staley desires?

First thing that comes to my small brain is his coverage skills better than Kiser's? Most have him going in the 2nd rd. I would not draft him with either of our 2nd rd selections. I might consider using the #104 pick.....maybe:unsure:

Third sounds reasonable, think I took him mid third in our mock for the Broncos.

Getting talented players and developing them into contributing starters isn't "hoping for a miracle". It's actually how things are supposed to work. It's a formula that has worked for us, and thus there's no reason for us to do anything different. The OLBs and ILBs we currently have on our roster are a young talented group. Outside of a couple of guys, they represent an unproven group, but it's not like aren't guys that coming into the league weren't looked at as talented prospects.
If you think our ILB room is talented there isn't much to discuss. Cheers. (y)

So are edge rushers in the sports book counted as lb or dl?

Kiser was really bad in coverage in college ball and he's improved a little with us I think but he's not someone they can count on from a roster perspective. Give him a shot, sure, and see what happens. But in the meantime fill that roster with more talent and options.

Re: Brooks he is going to need development in coverage, there just isn't enough film with him playing coverage. He's a round 3 value to my eye, maybe round 4. His game is similar to Littleton tbh, where his best fit is probably 4-3 WILL because he doesn't beat blocks physically but is more of a chase type along with his range. Difference with Brooks IMO is upside. He's a really big dude. When his game rounds out at the NFL level what is he going to be? Maybe a plus ILB.

But if he goes too early there are some other options as has been discussed here. Weaver, Woodward, Bachie, Bailey, Strnad, etc., etc., they all have areas they need to work on but they represent needed talent and competition for a DC who is going to have higher standards in what he asks of the group.

Just saying a position of need with speed. Kiser does not have that kind of speed. Like him better than drafting a Center. Will see who falls. Don’t know the direction The Rams are going to go because of the draft board of needs & mlb is a good example of the lack of depth in 2020 draft.

Yes, Josh looks like an outstanding Ram prospect to be considering. From what I have been able to find he is a 34 D defender. I would hope Josh would be there when our first 3rd rd pick is on the clock #84.

Underrated Players in the 2020 NFL Draft
View: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2887526-the-most-underrated-players-in-the-2020-nfl-draft

Josh Uche, EDGE, Michigan
Usually, teams would be all over an edge-rusher like Josh Uche. Uche has it all. A big-name school like Michigan. A great frame (6'1", 245 pounds) and athletic profile. An ability to create the kind of pressure we don't see often in today's NFL.

Despite these facts, Uche has generated little buzz. Over at TDN's rankings, he sits as the No. 70 overall prospect. Perplexingly, he lands as the ninth-ranked edge behind names like Florida's Jonathan Greenard.

It has been a strange draft process for Uche, whose biggest knock seems to be that he lacks meaningful experience, but Lance Zierlein of NFL.com grades him as a player who will start in Year 1 or 2, and ESPN's Louis Riddick pointed out how there are "so many things [Uche] can do on all three downs. Perfect skill set for today’s game. Perfect!"

Edge-rushers were always going to have a hard time standing out in a class led by Chase Young. With Uche, though, it sounds like a team that emphasizes his moldable, elite skill set and shrugs off his lack of experience will find a steal.

Dope read my Ram brother...I see a lot of people ding Uche for his size but if Staley is as creative as they say...You could move Uche all over the front 7 and give the opposing offensive coordinators fits. I think dude is the real deal.

What are thoughts on Jordyn Brooks from Texas Tech? Sounds like a pretty interesting Middle Linebacker prospect who from what I have read is expected to get selected in the 2nd or 3rd Round in this upcoming draft. Would you use one of the Rams 2nd Round picks on him (Probably won’t be there with the Rams 3rd Round Pick)?

From what I've read he has a good motor, good speed and movement...but has RARELY been used in coverage, and looks a bit lost when he did. But a good down-hill sort of LB with speed. More of a "react and attack" type player than a guy who sees things developing.

The thing is, I really don't know what the Rams are looking for in a ILB.

As for you guys that say Kiser has yet to take a snap...not sure what you're talking about. I saw him playing in the game where he got injured.

Malik Harrison might be a guy to take a look at. Perhaps doesn't have the speed of Jordyn Brooks, but, although not a one-on-one coverage guy - he supposedly plays pretty well in zone. Tough, down-hill player.

Just to show I’m not totally off my rocker. I agree with Jeremiah a lot more than a Center.
Will see Bonifay. I’m for the best RB as soon as possible, but draft board plays into this whole thing.

I’ve been pretty straight forward on my thoughts. I made a ROD play with someone about The Rams not drafting a O”Lineman. — what are your thoughts on Noteboom.

There’s no getting around it. the Rams need a run stuffing hard hitting ILB to man one if the posts. I have no idea if Kiser is that guy but I’d bring in another vet or sure fire rook to shore it up.

That’s where my head is at. (y)

I have no such issues with his size.

IMO he would be an excellent addition to our new defense.

Yup im right there with you, Uche was more productive than Chase Young in College this year. We need another playmaker in the front 7 with Donald and Uche is a straight up BALLER

The staff and organization think they're talented, or they wouldn't be here. We've hit on more than we've missed recently so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Man you cant be serious? This doesn't even qualify as being a homer its just delusional. No one is proven, Reeder was horrible last year, and every single person has questionable talent. Likely the worst ILB talent in the entire NFL at this point. Its the biggest hole on our roster. My guess is we add a starter tmrw, that unit has to improve.
