Bummer.

I don't claim to be an X's and O's guy, but when McVay was under the weather and handed over duties to LaFleur in the second Cardinals game, the play calling seemed to have a different "flow" to it. Seemed to have more of the old-school vibe of "if you can't stop the run we'll keep doing it until you prove otherwise." [36 carries for 249 yards, 6.9 YPC (!) and 3 TD's. ]We RARELY get that vibe from McVay.

That 45-17 stomping was in some ways one of the most complete games of the season.

My point being-- LaFleur is a good coach and we'll miss him, I'm sure McVay will find an excellent replacement, he always does. But whomever they pick at OC, I hope McVay lets him take over play-calling on occasion... at least just as a change-up, to keep opponents on their toes.

He definitely brought that Niner power run game to the Rams. It's a shame they couldn't have won a ring while he was here because he definitely helped the Rams win games. In 24', when Stafford struggled some down the stretch of the regular season, the defense & run game got them through some of those late season games that maybe the old McVay running attack wouldn't have.

I see San Francisco is hiring Raheem for DC. That should be interesting when we play them. Heck, every NFC West team we play will be a reunion of sorts - between Kupp, Raheem, and LaFleur. Glad to see Kubiak and Saleh leave the division. I think both of those guys get the most out of their players.

This kind of sucks. He knows where McVay wants to evolve the offense AND he knows our vulnerabilities.

Ridiculous that we don't get compensation for being pillaged every year. The base compensation on race, which seems like an odd basis.

Imagine if McVay could keep a staff together for more than 2-3 years at a time? What would that kind of continuity do?

Oh, and SF looks to be hiring Morris as DC.
