And this lack of big play ability for Kyren is a myth. The functional defensive design against the Rams this year is preventing big runs.

Kyren was 6th in the league in BIG runs last year and he only played in 12 games.

It's a valid critique. Kyren lacks speed. His longest run of his career is 56 yards, which isn't too bad. But his second longest run is only 31 yards, which speaks volumes.

Maybe, but some is a function of the design. He averaged 5.0 YPC last year without huge runs. I'll take that over a 5.0 YPC back who gets 33% of his yards off of 10 carries during the year.

It just keeps getting funnier and funnier with you. Imagine getting so worked up because we discuss a fault of one of the Rams players or a play where they did something wrong. Oh the horror! How dare we have a discussion about something like that here. The ironic thing in all this is you're the one keeping the discussion going. One person here fails to acknowledge that he did not maintain control of the ball for the entirety of the play. You are absolutely correct the stat sheet does not reflect a fumble for him. But only one person seems to have a hard time acknowledging that the he lost control of the ball. It's not the end of the world. It doesn't make him a bad player. It doesn't mean that anybody saying that thinks he is a bad player or should be cut or we should bench him or any such thing. The fact this is still going is all on you man.

Kyren is great. I love him on this team. Like Dickerson did, just needs better ball security.

Dickerson had a penchant for big fumbles. Still loved him but goddamn I wanted to choke his ass vs the Redskins back in '86 in the playoffs... Rams should have won that game.

Personally, at a certain point, college production becomes irrelevant to me since there is an NFL body of work to judge. In college, they played under different circumstances - I.e. different coaches, schemes, OL, QBs, WRs, opponents played, etc.

When on the same team in the NFL, their circumstances are similar. From what I can tell now, Corum is similar but KW has superior vision and patience. My hope is that Corum can grow into what KW is.

Edit: As for how their rookie seasons looked, I saw Kyren's elite vision immediately.

Agreed. But can't this argument work both ways?

The coaches who see them both in practice have decided to give KW over 300 snaps this year and give relatively few to Corum.

This argument is incredibly mind numbing considering Kyren had 35 carries his first year.

Going along with your argument Kyren Williams played under Tommy Rees who has a similar offensive philosophy as we have here.

Corum is like a clone of Kyren Williams. Very very similar running styles, vision, cuts, speed, and yards after contact ability.

It was Corum's rookie year and this is Kyren's dance and has more experience, wtf would the coaching staff run a rookie Corum out there when they have a 3 year vet good to go to for a major share of snaps?

If anything, this is telling they seen Corum as the continuation of a back with similar skills and output for a continuation of cheap labor for an extra 2 years.

He's a top 10 HB. I'm not debating that. He does some things incredibly well. Long runs aren't one of those things. But that's why we snagged him in the 5th round. If he was a 4.4 40 back, he'd have gone 3 rounds earlier.

I was just watching the Manning cast of the game. It was interesting. Belechick said after the first series that the Vikes can't block our pass rush so if they don't establish a run then they can't win. So he nailed it right away.

I believe he also mentioned that we lack speed on offense, unless I am confusing that for another show I watched. However, that is evident to these coaches that know the game.

So yeah, we need our version of Jamir Gibbs or a power back that can offer a physical presence, preferably with a little juice to make big plays. Then add speed & big play ability at WR & TE.
