Lmao, I was just about to post this. Very interesting though.
Yea very interesting lol. I mean I agree with others that we have bigger needs. Trading for a CB or Edge makes more sense if we were going to do a trade. But I'd never be surprised if McVay went after a young dynamic playmaker with 4 years left on his rookie deal. His game just fits so well with Kupp and ARob too.

Good point about the contract. I can see Snead also finding that attractive as that would allow them to have more CAP flexibility for other moves if they believe he will pan out. If I were the Rams, I'd be trying to get Bradberry first and say we'll take on Toney if they want to get rid of him so bad. Unfortunately that might mean trading his boy Van Jefferson tho which would make this tweet awkward.

If Snead and McVay think he fits the type they will do their do diligence. IMO he doesn't sound like the Rams type of football player. The Rams locker room is full if players that love football and work hard to be the best they can be.

In his defense, it is voluntary. Now if he were with us, we have better vets/locker room culture that could positively rub off on him. This to me could be a reason the FO may look at him as a viable option. Besides, he'd also be cheap which is something I know the Rams don't mind.
Yeah, I understand he doesn't have to be there, but he skipped these things last year too. I mean, the Giants have a new coach, and his teammates have their new playbook, and he still doesn't have his, because he doesn't want to show up. It's not a good sign, IMO.

He could be one of those players that matures somewhere else, but he could also be the other kind of player too. The one that doesn't fit with the Rams culture, and one that McVay wouldn't put up with long. I don't think I'd offer much for him.

In telling you guys, this guy has zero interest in football. It's just a means to an end to fund his rap career.

I agree in not offering much for him. I honestly doubt we'll go after him but I could see why we would too. As we all know though, it's the Rams so I'm sure our team will be linked like we are to every player minus a QB.

You’re over paying, it’s the Giants for Gawd sakes…Atwell and a 6th should do.

Actually, a previous poster mentioned trading for CB Bradbury & Toney, so I (Rams) might offer Jefferson, Atwell & our 2023 2'nd round pick.
jmo.

That was me and that suggestion was mostly to get Bradberry. Unfortunately I think his contract is the issue plus the fact that mostly every team anticipates him being released if the Giants cannot get what they want for him. Only way I see the Rams making a trade with Bradbury work is if the Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp extensions create more cap than anticipated.

Yeah, it could a matter once bitten, twice shy for the Rams after getting burned for a 2'nd & 3'rd round draft pick with Von Miller. They may want to reach an agreement on an extension before jumping into that fire again.

Honestly? I'd rather have Atwell than Toney. There were issues with Toney coming out of college. Yes, he's uber-talented, but his issues have been there since college. I'd much rather just sign OBJ or even roll with Jefferson, Harris, and Atwell. I'm sorry, but while I don't like Atwell, I like Toney even less because Atwell, at least, isn't an immature, lazy dumbass.

Million dollar talent with a nickle head. I could see the allure but not sure I want this guy because I don't think he'll ever take the game seriously.

Unless its for peanuts, no thanks. And since it cost the Giants a 1st, Im guessing they want something valuable.

So I admit I don’t know squat about Toney but a quick lookup and he had one decent year in college (900 yards/10TDs). Being considered for a trade after one year in the NFL screams of immaturity or poor work ethic. How does that compare to a Jefferson who is a decent WR3 and may continue to ascend? Did Toney blow people away at the combine or something else that I’m not aware of b/c I’m seeing him as a 2 year project at best and possible bust if he doesn’t start locking in.

Kadarius Toney’s breakout 2020 season

Thus far in the 2020 college football season, Kadarius Toney has 70 receptions for 984 yards and ten touchdowns. He also produced on the ground, accumulating 19 attempts for 161 yards and a score. Toney’s efforts earned him recognition as one of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award, presented to the nation’s best wide receiver.

Toney benefitted from the ascension of Kyle Trask. Trask provided competence as a passer at the quarterback position, something Florida hasn’t truly had for a long time. With that being said, Toney has correspondingly contributed to Trask’s historic production. Toney provides the Florida offense with a threat at all three levels, and as his usage has increased, so has his exposure.

Kadarius Toney is one of the NFL Draft’s most dynamic receivers

Above all else, Kadarius Toney is one of the most dynamic wide receivers in the NFL Draft. His skill set is exhilarating, and he’s simply electric with the ball in his hands. Toney employs a number of traits to produce on the field, most notably his elite explosiveness, acceleration capacity, and agility in open space.

When it comes to pure explosion, Toney might not have any competitors at the receiver position. He has the ability to generate immense amounts of forward momentum with rare suddenness and pace. Additionally, his direction changes are effortless, and out of those direction changes, Toney can pick up speed in no time.

Toney’s explosiveness makes him an elite weapon in space, but he also has the contact balance to fight through congestion. Despite his relatively light weight, Toney is fairly compact, and he can bounce off defenders and use his agility to blunt contact. He reacts to contact with impressive quickness and has the balance to stay on his feet and explode to safety.

Toney’s explosiveness also serves him well in the deep third

Just as Kadarius Toney’s short-range athleticism helps him as a YAC weapon, it also helps him produce down the field. Toney has the burst and speed off the line to rocket by defenders. If a cornerback isn’t prepared to flip his hips, look out. Toney will have an open field ahead of him.

Additionally, Toney employs otherworldly twitch as a route runner. While he has room to refine his route running process further, many of Toney’s routes involve him using his speed to streak upfield and take advantage of blind spots. At the stem, all Toney has to do is sell enough to shake his man, and Toney does that well with his natural jitter. He’s so good at feigning quick direction changes while keeping control and maintaining his speed. This makes him a lethal weapon for unprepared defensive backs.

Toney doesn’t have a lot of film regarding his contested catch ability, and his frame and lack of length limit that ability. But regardless, contested catch proficiency isn’t Toney’s game. Toney’s game revolves around creating separation and creating yards after catch. Some of his trait descriptions may resemble hyperbole, but that’s truly how Toney operates. He’s an elite athlete with a rare combination of explosiveness, contact balance, and field vision. That’s an archetype that’s starting to carry more weight in the NFL.

Kadarius Toney’s best fits in the 2021 NFL Draft

When looking at only his skill set, Kadarius Toney is a first-round prospect. He’s a dynamic receiver who can create big plays from behind the line of scrimmage to 50 yards down the field. There’s a great amount of versatility that comes with a player like Toney, NFL teams like prospects who can do more, and with his athletic traits, Toney can do more than most.

Now that he’s passed the test on the field, however, Toney has to pass the offseason next. Character evaluations are big for the Florida wide receiver. Outside of that, he should be able to maintain his draft stock. His pro day reaffirmed his talent. There, he logged a Relative Athletic Score of 9.00. That score was bolstered by a 4.38 40-yard dash, a 39.5-inch vertical, and a 136-inch broad jump.

Regardless, character evaluations wrap up the process for the Florida wide receiver. If he gets through those, nothing is stopping him from going Round 1. If teams have cause for concern, then he’ll likely fall to Day 2. Round 3 seems like the floor for a player with his talent, but the nature of his character will determine that specific boundary.

Because of this, Toney’s range is fairly wide at the moment. Additionally, teams like the Chiefs, 49ers, and Ravens could be good schematic fits for him. Teams must use Toney the right way. But his 2020 season provides a blueprint for success on that front, and Toney himself provides the firepower.

As a 2021 rookie, Toney had 3 different QB's throwing to him, none very good.
