He's not justifying or condoning the rapist's perspective, but rather stating that as a possible intent by the rapist in some cases to add a perspective of motivation as it is relevant to the discussion. I'm curious to understand where you're coming from, but I don't get it after re-reading your response three times.

Yeah... I tend to think it's a bit of an overreaction but I can also see the point that it softens the idea of what a monster like a rapist is thinking. I'm sure some of it is the dumb shit thinking she really wanted it but the idea it is the dominant reason for rape doesn't add up to me. Groping, or unwanted advances maybe but too many rapes are absolutely brutal and in no way do I think most rapists rationalize them in that way.
Well, yeah for sure. I guess to the victim it's all rape, but the offenders all have their various motivations. Every once in a while, I catch one of those shows my wife watches regarding the investigation and profiling of the criminal mind and I have to admit I do find it fascinating.
For some it may be dominance as you say. Others certainly just have trouble handling rejection, which is the type of creepy dude who gets my Ire up - I guess that's just because it's more commonly observed . Then there is always the person who's just a creepy perv, the socially awkward type who really just doesn't know how to go about achieving what he/she wants. And then there are the sociopaths who really just don't care and are seeking the most efficient path to what they want. The human mind is such a gray area, I mean you might consider the combination of broken aspects that contributed to Dahmer's atrocities.
Anyway, motivation for criminal behavior is an obvious tool for investigation, and in the context of the original comment it was anything but sexist.
I don't know Rath, and I'd almost expect that he'd come off as a douche that I wouldn't personally like, but I'm no fan the current vogue of trial by media where a person is guilty until proven innocent.

They know each other pretty well. My guess was his testimony was three fold. One: Character reference - just like you said. Two: Rath May have talked to him about the allegations and they want to show that Rath’s story has been consistent all along - he could attest to the medical condition, etc. Three: star power. Juries are people and Suh is a star. People want to be on the star’s team - not go against them.
I don't know what happened and don't really care to be honest. This whole story didn't make sense to me from the start and the only fact we have atm is that he was proven not guilty by a jury of his peers.
I know it's a sensitive topic in general but the legal justice system says he didn't break the law so some of you people need to just let it go and let the man get back to work.

That's because there's nothing wrong with evaluating criminal motivation. It is an investigative tool.

I don't understand what is wrong with that comment. It was from a psychology class. For, some rapists or gropers, their motivation is thinking that once they start the woman would reciprocate. Like Zaphod said there are socially backwards people that don't know how to function in society. I didn't say women who are raped actually like it.
Psych 101. But, there could be other reasons rapists do what they do, and I did include gropers, even catcallers could be included. Some here are overreacting IMO.

Yep, my wife has a psychology major, hence her interest in those types of shows, naturally bridged to my own (much more casual) interest as it pertains to writing accurate fuzzy logic or even just articulating how we really process tasks for automation.
Way off topic, but I think that in the end, the development of AI will have a profound impact on how well we understand ourselves.

It really threw me off guard as well bc of how it was written and the lack of context. How i read it was that when you said "theres hope that they will like it", i first read it as saying theres hope, from an outsiders point of view, that they will Grow to like it and it will become less traumatizing as time goes on and they will just incorporate it into their daily lives. I didn't know it was from the rapists perspective until you followed up.
There is no way he jumped in her bed, not to get his rocks off in one way or another. It’s not groping once you penetrate a naked woman.

I realize and respect the not guilty thing, but other players have had the NFL come down on them, even if they aren't guilty of what they're accused of. I can't see Rath escaping punishment from the NFL, who are normally very quick to crack down on people accused of what Rath was accused.
