Yup. Why do I feel like he's coming into our division 100%. We need to do what it takes to get him IMO, because otherwise I really think we'll be facing him twice a year.

If we could trade Jefferson + a 2nd or 3rd that would be amazing. We would have to restructure Stafford to create the cap space but it's doable. We knew the Cards and SF have had conversations with the Falcons for Julio, and if now the Seahawks are in the mix why would he choose a team like the Pats or the Titans if he wants to win? I feel like any team in our division has a better shot to win than those teams. Especially with him added to the roster. He has a relationship with Shanahan from ATL and with Raheem Morris too who was his WR coach in ATL. So I think us and the Niners have a good shot to get him if we're willing to pay. Seems like ATL is trying to start a bidding war and it will likely work.I'm with you at this point. We definitely should get serious about getting him if he goes within the division. However, I will add that I would rather we include picks and Van Jefferson as opposed to any of our other WRs. Jones is a true #1 in the NFL and would open up our passing game way more.
I know we are homers and love Van's potential, but the reality is he caught 19 passes for 220 yards last year. The notion that Van could be a "major piece" in a trade for a superstar like Julio Jones seems like a pipe dream.
Yeah, I just don't think an offer like "Van Jefferson and a 3rd round pick" is anywhere close to what the Falcons are being offered by other teams. Just IMHO.Then again, good time to catch a player who could be move’n on up.
The fact that the Rams are apparently out of a discussion two days before the trade is expected to go down makes me think that they're in even more than we think. And it's possible that they think they have the best offer on the table. This feels more like "okay, call our bluff" than anything else.Florio now reporting the Rams are out of the mix.
Good.
And why are we giving up on Van Jefferson all of a sudden? He is going to be a good one.
Thank god.Florio now reporting the Rams are out of the mix.

Agreed. I mean we've seen it before. They had Kupp, Cooks, Woods and Reynolds all playing snaps. Also depth at receiver is a great thing. For those wondering about having too many WRs, look at Tampa. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Antonio Brown and TEs Gronk and...the other guy I’m too lazy to look up.
They are STACKED at WR.
The point is that if a defender is locking up Evans, they throw Godwin and Brown out there... with McVay it’s all about mismatches and Jones creates a whole different kind of mismatch than we currently have.
Whatever happens, happens, but the notion that McVay couldn’t create ample opportunities for Woods, Kupp, Jones, DJax and Higbee let alone the rooks... it’s just silly.
As for me, I am in no way "giving up" on Van, I think the sky is the limit for him. I just don't think he is a "proven commodity" yet. And when calculating trade value, I think most teams prefer to go for vets who are "proven" already. Just IMHO.Florio now reporting the Rams are out of the mix.

Yes there is an everlasting burning in my gut fueled by my hatred of the 69ers, NE Rats and Shecocks. I respect every other team in the NFL though I could start to hate the TB Fucs depending on how this year goes. The seahags are very much involved. Want Julio or not the seahags have been a thorn in our side this offseason more than ever for a myriad of reasons. It's like the movie single white female they trying everything to fuck us and then emulate us. Eskridge Waldron Everett now possibly Julio. I guess they are of the mentality of if you can't beat them copy them. Regardless of my wanting or not wanting Julio I hate them more than ever.
