He's had multiple violations for this suspension? How was he not suspended after the first one since he was on the shortest leash ever by the NFL. And for more than marijuana or alcohol. Sad. Dude just has no power over himself.

It's interesting that Rapoport thinks there's a slim chance Gordon could be back by the start of next season. He's clued into NFL operations more than almost any other reporter. I'm guessing that is a pretty good sign that the NFL has fundamentally changed the way the are approaching these suspensions.

The CBA sets the guidelines on this, so I'm confused like you are.

IMO they are going to lighten suspensions and possibly stop testing for it in the future.

The NBA's commissioner actually is on record saying “We’re much more concerned about HGH testing … marijuana is something that’s collectively bargained with the players’ association, and we adjust with the times.” So I think what we will see is a new agreement where the league will agre to stop testing for weed in exchange for HGH testing. And I think the NFL will follow suit. Or at least try, the union doesn't want HGH testing because they know how many guys abuse it.

Mindblowing a guy turns down a chance to make millions just to get high.
You would be amazed how many people throw away a career in professional sports due to drug/alcohol dependency. I have met a few in my 15 yrs of recovery. And every one of them had to find a God of their understanding to fill the hole they were trying to fill with drugs, alcohol and women. Of course their professional careers were gone long before they found recovery.

Steve Howe, former Dodger pitcher, was the poster child for more chances who never could get clean...

So where is Les Baker these past few months, he was a very good poster.
