No it bothers me that he covers his immaturity and foolishness with an issue. Every time. And then he goes to rehab.

Every statement he has made since forever says the same thing. Every single suspension draws the same response from him. When he got kicked out of two colleges he said the same thing.

Then he says he is clean. And. Then he fails another test.

Lather rinse repeat.

Some guys learn and continue to play and get paid major money. But there are guys that don't. It's rare, but guys that don't learn do actually exist. He is one of them.

Yea it’s called addiction which is, in fact, a mental health issue.

Looks like you need to smoke a joint and chill out

I'm not the one gettin all worked up here. It's pretty clear who needs to chill out and it ain't myself.

Keeping it light is the way to go here IMO but if you want to get all serious over a guy like this knock yourself out my man.

Football has never been anything but a stressor and a trigger for him. Needs to walk away from the game permanently.

Gordon doesn't need help. He has ridiculous restrictions placed on him by the nfl. He got suspended for a year because he had a few drinks. So stupid what the nfl did to his career.

I dunno about that @kurtfaulk . He, like many players, had plenty of rope and have had plenty of chances. I think Gordon was suspended for part or all of every season except his rookie year.

Most jobs that have a drug testing policy don't give you multiple chances after multiple failed tests. Usually an employee is terminated after one failed test. There might be companies that will give an employee a mulligan but mostly they lose their job.

So it's not fair to say the NFL did something to his career, he did that by himself with help from friends who wanted to party all the time. Part of his reinstatement after being kicked out multiple times was that he was required to stay off drugs AND alcohol. He was to attend AA meetings and not drink. That's not a ridiculous restriction, it's something he agreed to with the commissioner as a condition of his reinstatement to the league.

He wasted his opportunity to play in the NFL. It didn't have to happen this way. Lots of guys fail tests and figure it out.

I do agree that the NFL has some bad policies.. but Gordon is an addict. He has had to go to rehab on multiple occasions.

A person who isn't an addict can show up for a team flight and not make the decision to be drunk or high.

So yeah I feel yeah.. but Gordon would basically have issues in any job.

He is an addict but I can tell no one read the Gregory article i posted on this thread. Should read it to see how things like this happens to people like Gordon and others. For one people were on suspension and they can't be around other players who are their friends. They end up being isolated which makes them more likely to go back to drinking or using. I'll link it again

Yeah my grandfather killed himself through alcoholism. So it wasn't too fluffy to me - a lot if it reminded my of my grandfather. My sister is also an alcoholic who hasn't drank for 15 years. My grandfather had lots of anxiety issues. Then he fought in world war II which didn't help those issues too much.

People like Gordon sometimes can not be saved - but it usually starts somewhere.

Speaking from experience, there's an event called "hitting bottom." It's like being in an elevator going down. At each stop you lose more stuff. A man can lose his job, his money, his wife, his children, his dignity, his health, his mind, and finally his life. I hit my bottom at age 29.

When you're done your'e done, if you're not you stay on that elevator ride until you are done. Hope Josh Gordon has someone in his life who can help him before he loses everything.

Yeah it does matter.
The guy is a human being, and has a problem.
Sadly all you care about as far as the person goes, is what he can do on the football field.
I hope he can get the help he needs so he can find some peace in his life, because that’s all that matters.

I'm not sure he needs help. He strikes me as a guy who doesn't want to change. The same was true of Justin Blackmon. Difference is that Blackmon was happy walking away.

It’s funny, I was going to use Blackmon as an example but I’ve felt that Gordon wanted to change. Either way, heard some reports today that sound pretty bad.
Hope the kid gets help

He's had multiple violations for this suspension? How was he not suspended after the first one since he was on the shortest leash ever by the NFL. And for more than marijuana or alcohol. Sad. Dude just has no power over himself.

Report: Josh Gordon suspended due to 'multiple violations' of NFL substance abuse policy
New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon received an indefinite suspension from the NFL on Thursday for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. This suspension, Gordon’s fifth, reportedly stems from more than a single violation for a single substance.

Gordon violated NFL substance abuse policy ‘multiple’ times
Gordon’s issues with alcohol and recreational marijuana are well known, but according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, it was more than marijuana that led to his indefinite suspension. And Gordon wasn’t suspended for a single violation, but for multiple violations.
