Mindblowing a guy turns down a chance to make millions just to get high.

Just like it's mindblowing when people lose custody of their kids, rob stores, even kill, go to prison for years, when warlords hook 11 year old's on drugs

It's called addiction and it owns millions of lives.

Not smart, but if it's just weed, maybe he can make a living in the XFL. Don't know their rules, but you would think they would not even bother testing for pot.

Fuck off NFL
What a scam

Dude’s got anxiety issues - what was prescribed? Some pill with a zillion side effects that requires another pill to cure that has side effects, etc...

But the dude injests cannabis and he’s suspended indefinitely ???

Fuck off NFL for ruining a guys life
They did this shit to Ricky too

He’s talked about getting high off several different drugs before. It’s not just weed.

They really need to just let guys smoke weed man. Who cares? They all do it during the off season anyway and it's not like it effects their perfromance. I get the NFL wants that beer money, but come on. Time to join the 21st century.

That said, I do think dependancy on a substance can be related to mental wellness so I won't get in to that too much. It's not the same as addiction to hard drugs or even liquor but there can be a dependancy. I assume that's Gordon's issue. Sad story either way for such a talented guy.
I don't think it's so much about the frequency of pot smoking in society, or how many states have legalized it, federal law calls it illegal, even though the Us government has not taken any state to court over their laws, nor are they busting shops or growers where it's "legal." The NFL is waiting for the Feds to make it legal as well, in a classic case of CYA. JMO

And yet still, somewhere in electronic Ramsdom there's a fan firing up a post about trading for Josh Gordon.

It bothers you that he is seeking help for his possible mental health issues? Who are you to say that’s not his issues? You don’t know the guy and he can be battling things you have no knowledge about.

No it bothers me that he covers his immaturity and foolishness with an issue. Every time. And then he goes to rehab.

Every statement he has made since forever says the same thing. Every single suspension draws the same response from him. When he got kicked out of two colleges he said the same thing.

Then he says he is clean. And. Then he fails another test.

Lather rinse repeat.

Some guys learn and continue to play and get paid major money. But there are guys that don't. It's rare, but guys that don't learn do actually exist. He is one of them.

Anyway, hope he gets the help and steers his life in the right direction.

Very well said.

I think it’s funny how people are making claims to his situation, pro and con, and yet we have no idea what he tested for

Does it matter? He is a great example of self destruction no matter the details. Dude is gifted and has done nothing but squander it.

I suspect he's going to struggle flippin fries and/or otherwise holding down a job much like some other notable ex players who ended up spiraling into drugs and even prison.

Yeah it does matter.
The guy is a human being, and has a problem.
Sadly all you care about as far as the person goes, is what he can do on the football field.
I hope he can get the help he needs so he can find some peace in his life, because that’s all that matters.

Welp looks like you're a better human being than I am. Congrats on that and cheers matey.

He has failed for weed at least twice, codeine another... someone said alcohol above.

It really doesn't matter the dude is an addict. A few people on this thread evidently think that addicts are just people with lack of self control... which is.. sad for lack of better word.

The dude has been in rehab like 4 times.... It's more than just "he can't stop partying" When you have to check into the hosipital because you can't stop doing something - that's not "immaturity" sorry.. not even for a 12 year old.

I remember my best friend from middle school who has drinking drug problems when he was in high school... he just couldn't moderate. I remember him explaining it to me. Other people can take a drink and be fine.. some people take that drink and its over. A big chunk of it is hereditary (i read once where if your parents are addicts you have a 8x more chance of being one).
