Rapp is a better SS so why would the Rams need Adams? They have Burgess with better coverage skills and better speed than Adams to play FS

Yeah, I really don’t know why Snead would be the least bit interested in Adams for the ‘20 Rams. Especially at such a high price as the Seahawks paid. Lol.

We still have JJ for this year.

Rapp and Burgess seem very promising (and cheap) for ‘21.

And Snead seems able to pluck quality Safeties out of thin air anytime he wants.

Sure but who bats a thousand at GM. The job they did the other year after jettisoning vets and finishing a quick rebuild was fantastic IMO.

Not sure Adams is the greatest guy in the locker room but Seattle loves them some shitty dudes and I'll be surprised if he's not a beast in that system.
That's just it, aside from one draft does he even have an average to keep him in the majors? They have little to no depth a terrible OLine and a defense that needs a lot of help. They've gotten by off one draft and Wilson for years now.

Snead is just keeping his finger on the pulse of the NFL. Making sure he knows what's going on and who is open for what. So his interest might not have been with intent.

Yeah, reading Seahawk fan boards... most feel they gave up too much.

I’d say it looks particularly like an over-pay when you consider 2020 is such a weird season. What if the worse happens and the season is really chopped up... doesn’t really become a fulfilling season (in whatever that means to how it will go).

You trade ALL THAT with this much uncertainty for 2020 season?

And don’t extend him?

They could possibly only get one meaningful season out of him (2021) in the disaster scenario he walks.

I wouldn’t have done the Ramsey trade for the same reason, now, in retrospect.

Yeah there's no way I'd pay that price for Adams given the quality of our safety room. But that said to put it in perspective IF Rapp develops his coverage ability and zone production to the highest level over the next season or two he would then find himself comparable to Adams. There is no comparison right now, Adams is at the top of the list IMO, he can do it all at a very high level. He can man up, drop, or give you top of the line open field tackling. Rapp will get there I think but I don't want to act like he's better than Adams or anything because that would not be true.

And I imagine that Greg Williams is fucking pissed. :ROFLMAO:

Oh and this is a great take by Eisen btw, where he learns that old lesson about never saying never...

All true. But that doesn't mean I'm going to convince myself they didn't just get an elite, Hall of Fame level player. Cheers man. :beer2:

Soaking in this trade while reading comments here and on a Hags board.

They still have needs at pass rusher and offensive line. It is so similar to the Ramsey trade which I thought was a steep price for the Rams. Don't know the Hags cap as well as the Rams but, they have space to resign him. Overall it's a high price to pay but, they are a better team this year. Better that they traded for him than the Whiners so that's a plus. I don't think its a horrible deal but, may they could have helped areas of more need.

Was just thinking that maybe any Rams interest was similar to reports a few yrs ago about trading for Mack in that they would trade for him for a yr, then flip him.

If they could have moved a few players, in the last yr of their deals, plus; be pick, but then turn around and move him for multiple picks, it would have been a gutsy move, but certainly out of the box thinking to actually recoup draft capital.

So deal... JJ, Havenstein, Everett and a #1.

In return in a yr, you flip him for a pair #1's... And you get a year out of him.

I really feel like these players prioritize the wrong things during their careers. Being paid is of course important, but going for top dollar over everything else would not be my thinking. I'd be more concerned with which team I'm playing for and whether the Head Coach and staff are legit, whether the scheme is a nice fit for my skills, and where I'd want to raise my family.

Re: the fit with Adams he really fell into a great situation in that Seattle secondary where a guy with his skills will shine all over the defense. But he just as easily could have ended up in a defense that doesn't suit him as well, that stuff is a risk when you're a guy who does everything well.

But back to the NFC West for a moment... Cards made an elite addition to their wideout group who will fit what they want to do and boost a nice young offensive roster. Seahawks the same thing on defense. 9ers had a great draft and the road to the playoffs goes through SF until proven otherwise. I hope both those moves blow up in their faces of course, but this division is real man. We could very easily finish in the basement this season if our OL is not good.

Honestly, at this point draft picks are beyond worthless now if you aren't picking in the top 10. And I don't want to be picking in the top 10. Both Jalen and Jamal Adams were top 10 picks.

You have the chance to get a top player @ his position, you go get him. Why do fans worry so much about future unknown, shot in the darks over the superstar they just acquired and get to watch? If you're interested, go look at all the picks in the 20s the past few years. How many of those guys would you want over one Jalen Ramsey or one Jamal Adams (or Khalil Mack for that matter too).

Money? The team will pay him, someway, somehow. They will. They always do.
