Sooo....I know this is a thread about a different topic. But since Greg Williams name is in the title I thought I would stop by and say that the Jets all out blitz to end the game against the Raiders, and putting an undrafted rookie corner named Lamar Jackson on 4.27 Henry Ruggs, was the most idiotic call I may have ever seen. Dunce Cap of the week goes to Greg Williams.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programing

Does he get hired anywhere else now? Forget the NFL. College? High school?
If he'd be willing to shift to accept a position coach role, he'd probable be able to land a job in the NFL. College for sure. There are always programs that are looking for a "name" coach. I doubt he'd go that route though.

Not playing all the safetys deep was just about as dumb as the Falcons watching the Cowboys recover the on sides kick.
Williams may not be having his best year, but he is head and shoulders better as a coach than Gase. If anyone deserves to be fired after that mess its him

I agree that coverage shouldn't have been called.

But when you see the play before, you can understand his thinking. Their prevent D gave up a wide open WR that Carr overthrew by 10 yards, but he was WIDE OPEN in the end zone. Williams must know these newbies were prone to mixing up the coverage, so just have them keep the WRs in front of them while the entire D makes it impossible for Carr to get a throw off.

Unfortunately Carr somehow had a ton of time to throw, and DB somehow BITES on a short route with no safety. There's only so much you can do as a coach. This was the Jets being the Jets.

All that said, Williams is a dickwad.

3 man rush, leave everyone deep. You want Carr to complete one in the middle of the field.
I was actually rooting for the Jets, as I knew what that would have done to survivor pool. I truly felt for a moment that the Jets intentionally gave up the TD as to not lose the #1 draft pick

I know that's where our minds go, but watching the pressers with these guys and their deep depression, there is no way in the world anyone is telling them "Hey, let your guy go, we need that pick NEXT YEAR". Never. Never. Never.

Couldn’t happen to a better guy.
He refuses to adjust his approach.
Versus the Raiders every third or fourth down he was blitzing with man behind it.....with a couple of back up DBs.
On the game losing play it was a zero blitz.....no deep S help.
His DBs held on all of the third and fourth down blitzes as well. Obviously coached this way.
Him and his dirty play and frosted hair can fuck alllll the way off.

Great points. And so Williams made a bad call. I've seen McVay make bad play calls too. Williams took a high risk gamble and lost. It happens. I don't see how Jets management can fire Williams and keep Gase.

And yes, water is wet, Fire is hot. And Williams is a dickwad.
