Wasn't he a second round pick? Unless there's something we don't know about I don't understand why we wouldn't wait until the end of the year make him a low-ball offer and get a comp pick for him.

Third round pick.

Good luck to him. Our coaching staff must feel pretty strongly about Allen and Noteboom. And don't we have an OL on the practice squad right now?

Everything happens for a reason. Apparently, none of us know what the reason was. I really liked JB. He was very stout last year run blocking. I know he "had" the "can't pass block" reputation, but the last 5 regular season games last year he was ranked in the top 5 guards by PFF (can't recall, but maybe #1). So, I don't think he should have the "can't pass block" label anymore. He got better.

On one Hand you weren’t going to sign Brown in the offseason because he was going to demand too much for a backup.

On the other hand your depth is bone thin again for 11 games and relying on unproven Rookies.

So disappointing to lose proven high caliber Oline depth.

And he hasn't said anything on his Twitter. He's actually been a bit active today retweeting a few things.

He did retweet Bonsingoire's tweet

To me, Jamon Brown was our most important depth. Having both him and Blythe is what made our team really strong. I'd really like to know what's behind this....

Well, I guess they really like Allen and Noteboom

Like @flv noted above, I didn't see it coming but am not surprised in the least by it.

Brown is an impending FA and has been inconsistent in his pass sets, stunts and twists in particular but the dude is not a smart player who can process quickly. He's better than some of our other depth options but they come with team control. And yes, they definitely like Allen and Noteboom a lot and I don't blame them.

He'll land on his feet so just gonna say best of luck to Jamon and keep your nose clean man, that payday will come if you do that. Just might need to eat a short term contract due to that suspension and show you're serious about your craft.

We have three o-linemen on the practice squad right now: Aaron Neary, Rick Leonard and Darrell Williams.
