The classiest way to put it is that Odell Beckham was accused but some lady from his past of enjoying Cleveland Steamers...

So many jokes already on a Twitter that he was trending...

was there ever any doubt?

.

Again, 9 months ago, the media talking heads were questioning locking up Ramsey. "The Rams really gambled with Ramsey... blah blah blah.......". It's the Rams you idiots! This killer franchise gets deals done! Cover the Texans for the botched deals and cover the Cowboys for botched facial plastic surgeries.

You know, that makes sense, as crazy as it sounds. Could explain why he complained about younger viewers when his profile stated he was 53. Or he's simply a kid who lied about his age? Who knows.
Maybe he thought lying about his age would give him some street cred with the Good ol' Boys Club or something. Nevertheless ...CIAO!

Imagine what the talking heads would have said if we hadn't signed him? Now they'll claim we overpaid, but remember this year is also wrapped into the contract.

The contract was always only about timing and a current assessment of market price, which the Rams have always been willing to pay for the players they really want. Credit to the Rams front office and Ramsey for agreeing on the process and following through to get it done.

Top notch job! And the Rams continue to make themselves one of the teams players will most want to play for.

Yeah, that’s a lot of money for Ramsey, but...

What were the Rams to do?

They gave up two 1sts in trade for him knowing full well that he was gonna have to be paid top dollar.

But he’s a proven elite player, still young and healthy, at a premium position in today’s NFL. A playmaking stud that can wreck opposing game plans. Zero off field PR issues.

Great teammate, very coachable, super football smart, and tremendously versatile for Staley to use in so many ways.

Geez, how much is all that worth? I think we just found out. Lol.

Exactly!! Ramsey is worth it. If you want to have a championship team imo you have to have some exceptional if not flat out great players.

Ramsey passes that test. He's as good as if not better than any CB in the league, he's really smart, and he's in his prime. It is clear from camp reports that he is completely engaged and has bought into the Rams' D.

The Rams have also put in play a serious strategy to achieve a championship level D, this year and going forward.

Functionally Ramsey give the D another very serious and synergistic chess piece in addition to AD. They will make each other better. Pressure from the line while Ramsay takes out the top receiver. QB has to hold the ball longer while AD attacks. Exactly the way to maximize AD (who single-handedly maximizes the other pass rushers) and a nightmare for opposing QBS.

The other legs of this strategy will be A'Shawn to crush the run, forcing teams to pass into the teeth of AD and JR. Floyd on the edge and Lewis as the next high level pass rusher.

Having AD and JR on board are like having two great pitchers at the top of the rotation in baseball, say Scherzer and Strasburg. (Anyone remember Gibson and Carlton for the Cardinals, Koufax and Drysdale for the Dodgers, Johnson and Schilling for Arizona?)

This is how you build a championship team.

This is going to be fun to watch!!

Anyone remember Gibson and Carlton for the Cardinals,

I agree with everything you said, including the bolded. The only problem? Carlton was traded to the Phillies when Gibby's career was winding down. I will never forgive the 70s Cardinals management for trading him over a fucking paycheck.

Yes... but the Cardinals won a championship with Gibson and Carlton in 1967 and nearly won another in 1968. Later Cardinals owner August A. Busch wouldn't pay Carlton $100k a year and traded him to Philadelphia. On the way to the Hall of Fame Carlton then won 27 games for the worst team in baseball, arguably the greatest year for a pitcher in baseball history.

Fortunately we signed Ramsey instead of letting him walk because we refused to pay him market value.

Actually he was traded for a pitcher named Rick Wise who, ironically enough, proceeded to win 20 games for the Cardinals the next year. But yeah it's nowhere near enough to make up for Carlton becoming a HOFer and one of the best left handed starters of all time.

So i say yet again to all the resident cap worrywarts...

Who is responsible for coming up with the contracts and signing players? is it Les or Kevin?
Sorry if it's already been posted replied too.

Kevin is the 1 that knows market contract prices cost and handles the paperwork.

But no contract of this size doesn't get done without a sit down between the GM Coach etc etc

Yup, it's why I don't fret over financial things. The team will figure it out.

I am of the same mindset.

If Kupp and JJ are long term must haves, it will happen. You can't keep them all though. As well as every other team team in the NFL.

I have been so disappointed when some have left our team because of this juggle. Too many to list.

But we went to a SB without these so many. And any SB you go to is good no matter the outcome. Gives you a damn chance.

I LOVE these RAMS. Top to bottom.

Something special is happening right now. No matter the politics, players want to be in LA.

I mean politics as NFL/RAMS politics. Not Truman vs Dewey politics. (I voted for Dewey)

Oh crap am I banned now! :p

Have had this happen to me before, i start a thread it get merged into another my title that I created stays.
Your a bunch of old men that have no idea how to attract and keep younger insightful members.
delete my account. Do you think you can handle that?

See ya!

That's true about the offensive line. I can see us drafting a center in the second round to replace Blythe and push Allen/Shelton. But I have faith in Evans and Edwards when it comes to stepping in and playing well.
If the young line steps up this yr, but Blythe leaves or is the weak link, I could see them moving up for a plug & play center.

Assuming they feel good at LT w/ Evans or Noteboom, they will not have a ton of needs.

A pass rushing DT would be the other big need.

So might sacrifice a pick if it means getting one of the top 2 centers and getting him under contract for 5 yrs if they get in the late 1st.

Kind of miss those 5 yr deals for rookies.
