They gave up 2 sacks and averaged 4.3 on the ground, on the road, against the #1 scoring defense in the league.
And as I said they can be good. But as often as bad play calling there was bad stretches from the OL. Sorry I'm just calling it like we all saw on the field today. How many times in the 3rd quarter we were not getting said 4.3 ypc? Are you honestly going to tell me they were good run blocking or pass blocking in the 3rd quarter?

I think they’ve had two excellent games in a row against the 2 best defenses in the NFL.

It’s a good unit.

Certainly good enough to win with.

And I said they can be good. I also said they could be inconsistent. If they're better in the 3rd quarter and early 4th this is a different game. I'm not shitting on them I'm not saying cut them I'm not treating them like this is the GDT. They had a very bad stretch in this game after being dominant for the first half of the game. Sorry that isn't something you can acknowledge or just didn't see. They were not good in the for a large stretch of the 2nd half.

Ad to that Shelton being oblivious to Stafford calling for the ball cost us a delay of game killing drive. That's not the first time he's done that. Dotson also had a false start that hurt a drive.

I look at it differently, that’s all. Good enough to play that D and get 31 works for me… especially after last week.

Every team has bad series here and there.

We had a bad quarter and some and it centered around the OL. I had a friend who isn't a Rams fan asked what we changed in the 3rd quarter cause our OL sucked (his words).

Again… all teams. They scored on long drives… and gained 410 yards.

They’re good.

Got it, even if they have bad quarters or bad drives or drive killing penalties don't acknowledge that. You got it :)

Nope.

I’m saying they’re a good line. And they are.

Didn’t say GREAT…. Didn’t call them the Hogs… but they are good.

Can’t see it? Fine.

We do not.

Forget the stats.
Stafford is consistently throwing out of a muddy pocket or no pocket at all.

Give Stafford the same amount of time as Jackson had today and we run away with this game.

And all I'm saying and you seem to be unwilling to allow me to say it without challenging me is they are inconsistent. Something you have said to but you won't seem to allow me to say it.

Can they be upgraded? I think yes especially a couple spots.

Did they have a great first half? Yes I've said that many times you seem to gloss over me saying that.

Did they have a bad 20 or so minutes that negatively affected the game? Meh it was just a drive didn't affect the game they're too great.

Did they have drive killing penalties? Yes they did. Other players do to. I call them out for it too. But seems we can't do that today on the OL.

Yes the Ravens are a good D. Didn't stop our OL from dominating them for the first half. Yet our OL started the 2nd half getting their asses handed to them. Sorry you can't acknowledge that.

No, I’m not.

DESPITE those flaws, they’re, objectively, good.

You’re projecting an argument that I’m not making. Didn’t say perfect, didn’t say great, said “good.”

You disagree, it’s fine.

And I said they played good for part of the game and played bad for part of the game. You seem to be unwilling to allow me to say this. I am sorry I will never again give an honest assessment of the OL again. It's only sunshine and rainbows delivered on unicorn farts to celebrate the OL. No more honesty from me on their performance.

I'm sorry.

I honestly don’t know what you’re arguing about.

I’m also not telling you you’re wrong.

I disagree with you and am simply standing on my point.

This thread was a holistic one.. about the overall status of the Oline.

I *personally* believe they’ve answered the question to the affirmative.

No need to overreact.

You challenged me when I said they were inconsistent. You seem to take offense to that. I've said multiple times now they were dominant in the 1st half. They were bad in the 3rd quarter and part of the 4th quarter. I said they need to be more inconsistent. You seem to want to challenge me every time I say they could be better.

If they played the 3rd quarter the way they did the first 2 we're talking about a unit that flat out dominated the game. You don't seem to want me to say that.

I've said they were great in the first half but that doesn't seem to be good enough for you. I'm not sure why saying they were bad in the 3rd quarter is such a bad thing but you've spent a whole page in a thread where I said they were good overall telling me that I can't say they had a bad 3rd quarter.

And I’m telling you… I’m not arguing that point. I never argued they did. That’s why I said you’re projecting.

I simply don’t think that changes my assessment.

Is that more clear?

I have not said…. Once… that they had a good 3rd quarter. Not once.

That inconsistency may mean, to you, that they’re NOT a good Oline.

I say, they still ARE a good line.

Hope that clears it up.

Shelton was the biggest annoyance today by the OL. They were good enough to win this game, which in itself is a lot of progress vs a top defense. But for this upcoming offseason there has to be a plan in place for Center if they want to start getting rid of some of this inconsistency.

I don't know if Miami will lock up their pending FA Center. But if not I'd sign his ass, let Dotson leave in FA, and draft a LT. Of course the Rams will probably pay Dotson, stand pat at Center, and draft anything other than OL early in this draft. But I feel like if they could get that line fixed and add speed outside the hash this would be a 12-14 win team.

Noteboom and Allen should be going out. I don't care how you have to do it to make them go away; do it all the same. I'd deal Havenstein as well; he's in his thirties, and he's had injury issues. Let A-Jax move to right tackle or right guard. I don't care which. I'd also let Shelton go; that false start on the goal-line and the delay of game were inexcusable mistakes, and were costly enough for us to lose.

If we go into next year without a plan at center or left tackle (or, worse still, with one or both of Allen/Noteboom there), we're even more fucked than this year.

If Stafford were a threat to run like Jackson, defenders wouldn't be carefully rushing up the field with controlled rushes like teams do vs. Jackson.
