We definitely looked better late in the game.
Their D was wearing down a bit.

Williams wasn’t very effective early on either.
I commend McVay for sticking with the run.
It took a while to get the it going , but Williams finally managed to break some solid runs off.

I also thought we owned them in starting Field Position. That helped considerably yesterday.
The Browns beat the Niners a few weeks ago. They shut down their passing and running.

Maybe the Rams are a bit better than we realize.

The OL under McVay - and I think this is true in general - has always been the whole is great than the sum of the parts when the LT is great.

You can go back to, obviously Whit, but even games where Noteboom and Jackson played outstanding - the offense almost always has success. The rest of the OL is good to great (I think LG/RG/RT are playing REALLY well this year, C okay) - but the LT has been a problem and why I think that needs to be the primary focus. FA if possible but that is rare, and would be expensive - so the draft seems more likely there.

I love what Jackson did yesterday - but he just isn't consistent enough and LT is the lynchpin of the group.

When the pass pro is solid or better this team can beat anyone. Protect Stafford to a point and he is likely to find a way.

Alaric has had 2 really nice games in a row.
If he keeps it up, they would be very hard pressed to draft a player who will beat him out as a rookie.

We’ll see how it goes.

Only allowed one sack in the last three games, Stafford is playing his best ball of the season.

We have had very few OL injuries compared to last year.

Good health can make such a difference.

Agreed, Garrett was hurt, but Jackson has been very good and anxious to see how he handles himself against a stout Ravens DL.

PFF grades. Oline pass blocking overall was real good. Our guards got dinged in run blocking.

Having rewatched the game I would attribute the offensive success to the play calling. Lots of quick passes, moving the pocket and RB chipping. Things Mcvay should have been doing in previous weeks.

Also the WR’s were excellent in run blocking. Kupp, Puka and Skow. This is why I like Tutu getting less snaps and only used as a 4th WR deep threat. He shouldn’t be blocking. It compromises our run game.

Also Kyren Williams stats are crazy.

“Williams was incredibly elusive in the open field, forcing seven missed tackles. Of his 88 yards rushing, 69 came after contact, too.”

The O-Line is good but not great...they're getting there though...all it takes is time and those guys are coming around. I think the difference is McVay has adjusted his play calling and not asking them to protect with those deep routes, while Stafford's movement in the pocket has been much better since the thumb injury.

This is gonna be paramount against the Ravens. Get the ball out quick...keep a good run/pass balance...and spread the ball around.

I, for one, think McVay is wasting Tutu in the short game. He needs to get him the ball short and let him run after the catch. You don't need the deep routes all the time.
Kupp, Puka, and Tutu can all run after the catch...USE THEM IN THE SHORT GAME.

IMO, the Oline has been good all year except for when McVay abandons the run and goes with too many empty backfield sets.
And except when the team used their backup guard at LT after an injury vs. the Bengals.

I wonder what that looks like filtered for games where Kyren Williams played.
My guess is just a few positions higher.
Good question - not sure SIS can be filtered that way. I think PFF could be if someone
wanted to take the time.

Byron Young seems to have leveled off lately, especially when we need pressure. A little disappointing for me.

@Loyal s best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Creed Humphrey pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

I agree whole heartedly with the statement above in red. The main reason for the success in this game in spite of our below average line.
I hope that McVay keeps calling quick hitting plays so that Stafford has a chance to last through the rest of the year!

I think Garrett was not himself which helped out the Rams offensive. McVay mixed things up with short and long passes He called enough run plays that helped the offensive line out. The Browns offense didn't help their defense out with long drives. Overall the offensive line played well. They seem to play better when healthy.

Like most teams playing games even or ahead early always helps an offensive line. Penalties have been a headwind for the Rams offensive line. Let's see what happens this week. The Ravens will be a great test for the Rams offensive line. Things are looking up for the Rams offensive line. Let's see what happens this week.
