I've watched (via the NFL Network) the last 5 minutes or so of the Rams-Elgles game three times. Yes, it hurts a bit, but I am at peace. I can live with a rookie missing a block or a player losing a ball due to weather conditions. What hurts more is seeing how the Commodes got thrashed the next week and how we could have perhaps handled them.

Now though, if you were a Ravens fan, having your stud TE drop an easy catch that costs you a shot at the AFC championship game would be hard to get out of your head.

I agree with all your thoughts and comments ... excdept that one.

Getting beat by an All Pro D-Lineman ... I can live with that.
Physical mistakes and getting beat are often why teams lose ... I can live with that

But neither Limmer, nor Dotson missed a block or were beaten on that 3rd down sack.
They both passed on Jalen Carter. He came free because of a mental mistake.
The Eagles' best defensive player was unblocked.

The loss to the Eagles was a tough one because despite the costly turnovers they were in position to win the game late. Rams had a heck of a run but the loss also highlighted the issues that still remain on both sides of the ball. Rams need to address the run defense because teams like the Eagles that stayed committed to the run definitely gave them trouble. Another run stuffing DL will help but it’s time that Snead admits he made a mistake by trading Ernest Jones. They didn’t gain much cap relief and they didn’t have a player on the roster to replace him. Speights flashed some ability but they really need to address the LB position either through free agency or in the draft.

On offense the Rams were simply not consistent and if they didn’t have their usual lulls in the middle of games where they go 3 and out on offense maybe they don’t get behind big against the Eagles in the first place.

This was a great season but even with having a chance to win in the divisional round this team is still a few players on both sides of the ball to really contend. They can’t rest on their laurels but rather need to be aggressive and address the needs of the team in the off season

The 03 loss to Carolina was worse for me. To come storming back that game with Faulk refusing to lose and Wilkins making and recovering the best onside kick of all time... just for Jason Sehorn to have flat feet. I'm still shaking my head over that one. That 03 team handles the Eagles and Patriots IMO.

What's with "Higbee was open"? On 3rd down, he was open for another first down in the red zone with the potential to break a tackle and run in for the score? What am I missing...it sounds like several people think there was a sure game-winner involving Higbee.

Would you trust the RB who has fumbling issues to run on 3rd and 2 there? I wouldn't.

A jet sweep perhaps, I would've loved to run there but I don't know if a jet sweep was it, and frankly I would have zero trust in Kyren there with his fumbles.
That miscommunication is brutal.

That’s why I mentioned Kupp or Nacua on a jet sweep. What I didn’t understand was passing on every down with over a minute to play. Even if Stafford had time and threw a TD pass on 3rd down , there was way too much time left for the eagles to get in position for a FG. It is what it is , but I bet McVay is playing the 3rd down call over and over in his mind. Football is essentially over for me when the Rams get eliminated.

This was a potential Super Bowl year for the Rams with an epic comeback in the snow in Philly. Remember how many spirits were extinguished and souls snatched on the other side when the last two times the Rams won it all—many down-to-the-wire wins.

I'd hate to be a Bills fan. Four straight Super Bowl losses in the 90s with a missed field goal. And now four playoff losses to KC.

That was a tough one to get over for sure. Remember Wilkins 50 plus game winning FG attempt being a yard short ?

Higbee ran a wicked Out-and-In route on the 3rd and 2 play. His defender fell down. At minimum, it's first and goal around to 3 or 4 yard line. He possibly scores.

That is, if Stafford would have been upright, for ONE more second.

But they really DID contend or else they wouldn't have been in a position to win?

If you watch the play in slow motion, you'll see a monumental Fuck-Up between Limmer (who was a god-send this season as a 6th round pick) and Dotson (who was the Rams' best OL in 2024). Each seemed to think the other would block Jalen Carter (the Eagles' best defensive player), and both let him go.

Instead, they blocked no one; and Carter came free ... un-blocked; and was on Stafford in an instance.

Then focus on Higbee (in the slot, to the right). He breaks inside just as Stafford is sacked. The DB on Higbee slips down; and there is no defender over the middle for an easy pitch-and-catch for a 1st down and, possibly a touchdown.

If either OL just stood in front of Carter, and let him run-over them, Stafford would have had an extra second.

Does not mean the Rams would have won. Philadelphia would have had one minute and three timeouts to get into game-winning-FG-range.

Agree. Martz got conservative at the end, should have went for the win instead of playing for the tie.....

I think we do go to the SB had we won that game.....

Beating Philly and losing to Washington in LA would’ve been a kick in the teeth.
Agreed. Just because Philly torched them doesn't mean we would've. The Commodes had a really good team. They didn't beat the Lions for nothing. I really like their QB/WR combo.

Rams could have won. But did anyone think the offense was good enough to go deep into the playoffs? I’m a serious homer and my answer every time I asked it was ‘NO’. They need to feed that OL and add a weapon or 2 for next year.
On the extremely positive side, the defense (other than 2nd/3rd level run defense played lights out. Future looks bright when they add a solid ILB and CB1.
