I think Goff allowed the turnovers to bother him, whereas Stafford just seems to 'let it go'. Not that Goff shouldn't be pissed for a minute, But it just seemed like one turnover and he was too cautious. Could have been a combo of youth, inexperience AND pissing off McVay. Not that Stafford doesn't piss off McVay but with his experience he prolly thinks, 'yeah, okay, but watch how I come back from that'. Maybe it's the experience gained but Goff threw 5 picks in a game last year. You don't do that by being overly cautious. FWIW, Detroit won that game.
Yeah, it sure seemed like it was a combo of many things: inside pressure, Goff getting in his own head after turnovers (not taking to McVay's hard coaching after that), Goff not processing fast enough with an increase in the shotgun and drop back passing game vs play-action. All become untenable here with the Rams so he was shipped off.

Goff's improvement seems to also be a combination of things: great oline play, fantastic play-calling, learning to become a better shotgun and drop back passer (Don't shoot me but I'd put Ben Johnson a tick above McVay when it comes to play design out of those two aspects of the offense), most likely gentler coaching.

Okay, you’re right. Goff just lost it for two years for no apparent reason and then found it again for no apparent reason. :eyeroll:
Are you ok?
What are you even trying to debate here?
My take in this thread, Goff hit his ceiling at the KC game, never played, or will play that great ever again. We all saw it, some of us chose to ignore it (present company included), it was as if the league figured him out. His turnovers slightly increased while his scoring production drastically decreased. The turnovers were a biproduct of his sub par play but IMO not the reason for it. McVay had enough and made the upgrade that thank god was there to be made

Agreed.
Goff fucks up and he’s: “Oh shit!!! Here we go again. Why does this keep happening!!”
Stafford fucks up and he’s: “Oh Well!! here we go motherfuckers. We got this!!”

Last year Goff had 37 TDs. The most he ever had under McVay was 32. But somehow you think he peaked in 2018 :explode1:

Are you okay?

Agreed, and I was glad to see him traded for Stafford.

All I was saying is that once teams realized that pressure bothered him so much, it affected his offensive production as well as lead to turnovers. Which seems to be what you are saying.

You're turning this in to an entirely different discussion and conversation, was only talking strictly about his last 2 years in Horns when he allegedly lead the NFL in turnovers during that time. Detroit had nothing to do with it

I started by saying what caused the turnovers also caused the drop in TDs. How does that not make sense?

Did you hit your head today?
Its absolutely ludicrous to say that 5 more turnovers caused 10 less touchdowns.
But hey, some people believe in Santa Claus and a flat earth so there you go
Goff peaked, Goff fell off, Goff got replaced by Stafford and the Rams win a SB
I cant continue with this

So you think the drop in quality Oline play and teams having success rushing Goff with inside pressure had nothing to do with the drop in offensive output on his part?

You can’t be serious.

Love that show. Best episode is the one where the dude doesn't take the road where they won't accept his dog.
I kind of liked Lithgow's scene in the movie too. Overall the movie was meh but he was great in that.

5 more turnovers, 10 less touchdowns
The math aint mathing
Was it part of the dissention? Of course, because they werent scoring. It's just silly to think that 1 extra turnover every 4 games explains the lack of production. That's the tail wagging the dog
If someone is feeling the pressure and increasing their turnovers, I find it odd that you don’t see that they could be also missing even more opportunities to throw TD passes. If he’s back there ending drives with fumbles (some of which were in the red zone or deep in enemy territory), he’s not giving himself or the team opportunities to score TDs. He was also throwing out of bounds and making some awful throws while he was increasing his turnovers. The result is going to definitely lower his TD rate. And seriously to a much greater extent than you seem to be saying. Turn overs, bad throws, etc…, could and likely would result in a 2-1 margin.

It makes perfect sense to some of us.
