Yeah, it sure seemed like it was a combo of many things: inside pressure, Goff getting in his own head after turnovers (not taking to McVay's hard coaching after that), Goff not processing fast enough with an increase in the shotgun and drop back passing game vs play-action. All become untenable here with the Rams so he was shipped off.I think Goff allowed the turnovers to bother him, whereas Stafford just seems to 'let it go'. Not that Goff shouldn't be pissed for a minute, But it just seemed like one turnover and he was too cautious. Could have been a combo of youth, inexperience AND pissing off McVay. Not that Stafford doesn't piss off McVay but with his experience he prolly thinks, 'yeah, okay, but watch how I come back from that'. Maybe it's the experience gained but Goff threw 5 picks in a game last year. You don't do that by being overly cautious. FWIW, Detroit won that game.
Goff's improvement seems to also be a combination of things: great oline play, fantastic play-calling, learning to become a better shotgun and drop back passer (Don't shoot me but I'd put Ben Johnson a tick above McVay when it comes to play design out of those two aspects of the offense), most likely gentler coaching.
