Count me in the draft Jones column.
In fact, I'm trying my best not to get too carried away.
He WAS the beneficiary of a terrific OL, outstanding receivers, and an amazing RB. And we've only seen a small sampling of his play.
But still...
He shined on college football's biggest stage, didn't he?
Beating Wisconsin, Alabama, and Oregon back to back to back is no small thing.
Lots of poise under pressure, even after teammates' turnovers.
After his own fumble, he calmed more quickly than his HC.
Demonstrated the ability to throw 50 yards downfield with accuracy.
Speaking of accuracy, he demonstrated fine accuracy in short, medium, and long passes.
He has the look of a leader. Teammates trust and have faith in him.
He improved in each of his 3 games.
Strongest QB I've seen in a long, long time. Shakes off blitzing LB's and stones nose tackles.
Has the "want to" a top QB needs.
Recognizes defenses and adjusts very quickly.
Gets his team into the end zone for TD's, rather than settling for FG's.
Could have easily hung 56 on Oregon but for some bizarre turnovers that bounced right into Oregon's hands.
The Rams need to do their due diligence, of course. But I'm thinking this kid would be a helluva pick at #10 overall, if he's even still there.
They will need to be patient, but I'm convinced that Jones has all the raw talent needed to become a top QB in today's NFL. Can you think of a better merge of talent and need for us there?
If the Rams pass on Jones, I think they're gonna regret it for the next 12-15 years.
Sigh... Guess I'm not doing a very good job of tempering my enthusiasm. Lol.
