It's not a matter of if you're wrong about Goff. You're just flat-out wrong about your assessment of him based on 2 plays in a PRESEASON GAME.
I never said my assessment was based on just two plays. I gave three examples in one game of why I thought he was lost. I could give more examples, but since "lost" is a subjective term, what I do produced would always be insufficient to those that think otherwise.

I swear to god at the 16 second mark Brady says "scrotum".

Hi Les.

I didn't hear "scrotum" and I gave it several listens. On your good word, I fully expected to hear "scrotum", but that is not what I got. I wanted to hear "scrotum", I was excited to hear "scrotum", hell I TRIED to hear "scrotum". but nope. Sorry.

"Scrotum". Laff.

Oh, and fuck the Patriots.

Maybe this does or does not bear saying again but i was severely disappointed to not see consistency from Goff in that game. One could argue his play wasn't consistent with the game that came before. One could argue that his play wasn't consistent after the fumble with his play prior to the fumble in the Chargers game.

Goff being good or bad... I'm sure you could make arguments for both till the cows come home. What he is not yet, is consistent from series to series and game to game. And if he can't develop that, he won't start for long for the Rams.

That is what worries me. Thankfully, he has yet to be consistently crappy. ;)

That is where I am at as well. He is young and inexperienced, but that is the nature of this business. If he can improve gradually and be more consistent throughout the course of the season, he will be fine. If he continues to be erratic, he will be replaced. Pretty simple I would think.

With @WestCoastRam and @Faceplant. I saw a different approach to how the rest of the team was playing, but the consistency was not there from Goff as seen previously. We can argue it was because the absence of Kupp. I feel regardless we need him to become consistent and work with whomever he has at his disposal equally. It's good to have favorites, but at this point you can't be a chooser, and you need to constantly adapt to changes. He won't be playing against Green Bay, I assume they will rest him, and play Mannion and Orlovsky throughout.

Thank God for Tivo, there's nothing better for breaking down a QB's play. If you have a DVR do yourself a favor and record a game and watch it later. With slow-mo you can see how the play sets up, watch the blocking, the routes and the QB reads. The very best QB's are always moving their heads and adjusting. The bad ones lock in on one player.
If you have a recording of Saturdays game, watch the play before the strip sack TD. Goff locks in on Higbee, sees that he's covered and throws it over his head in the End Zone. That wasn't the only play Goff could or should have made. Robert Woods was flanked wide right, crossed under the slot receiver and was open at the three yard line with a straight line to a touchdown or first down, but Goff never looked his way. Thats not an NFL ready QB. Mannion is better right now, maybe not next year, but he's the best choice we have.

You need help, Les. Lol.

So, just how long have you had this "scrotum" obsession?

Did it start after your move to Florida? Hehe.

I listened several times for "scrotum". Maaaaybee. Certainly not a full-throated, hearty "scrotum" that one would expect to come out of Tom Brady's mouth.

Oh, and fuck the Patriots again.

If you're hearing words like "scrotum" you might be on the wrong forum. :D

Personally, I heard "vulva".

Don't have Tivo, but I remember thinking during the game my only criticism of Mannion was he was locking in every play. McVay said Jared was making good decisions after Raiders' game, so I'll take his word on that.

"Thats not an NFL ready QB." We don't have anywhere near enough data to reach that conclusion, not that it would even matter, since we're all trying to evaluate the trajectory of development and growth with Goff rather than his "readiness" right now today.

I'm thinking you have no idea who I am. Unless you're collecting Social Security, I doubt you've been a Rams fan as long as I have. I call it as I see it, I gave three examples of why I consider him lost.

I'm thinking maybe you're one of those people that takes criticism of any Ram player personally.

I AM collecting Social Security, (btw, thank you everyone -talk about Ponzi schemes!), and think "lost" is a bit over the top. IMO, not seeing Bosa is a plus, in light of the oft repeated "he looks at the rush", which is, and always has been, total bullshit. (It was repeated because Belichek said it). He fumbled - and no one would have held on to that - big fucking deal.
I will agree with you about the INT, it was horrible, and warrants criticism.
The over/underthrows - meh. Never happened to another QB, right?

He's played 8 games man, 8! Try enjoying the ride, and welcome to ROD.

Agree that Goff took a step back but that's going to happen.
Don't forget this is his third new offense in three years if you include his college (and why wouldn't you?)

Not really replying to you or the OP so much, but there is a set of posters that ignore the fact that until last year, Jared Goff had never huddled, never called a play in said huddle or called the blocking scheme and had almost never taken a snap from center.

All of Goff's inexperience and failings are laid at the feet of the former coach and that could not be more ignorant of facts.

Air Raid QB's are going to take time.

He's making progress.....
