Okie Dokee...whatever, stripped or fumble, the play didn't sour me on Goff and end my world Saturday night. I'm worried less about Goff than I am his protection.

The ball was slapped out, there's nothing a QB can do about it, and it happens to all of them.

how exactly is he lost?

I dunno how people can say that, it's obviously not the case.

LMFAO our QB gets sacked once and he lost his pocket awareness wtf really haha. Oh and he had an overthrow my god the world is ending lmao so much panic on this board it's crazy

Bingo!!!! i mean some guys just overreact or they just never liked the Goff pick so anything they can go hard at they will. Gotta get over that. Bosa made a good play great job. Funny tho nobody mentions how Goff was carving up there defense "before" the Bosa play! Just saying. Now the bad pass on Goff's part that is going to happen even with experienced QB's.

Week one we will be ready and Indy will be taking a loss!

You guys realize it took cousins three years under Mcvay to flip the switch. The guy was an average qb and now he's going to be one of the highest paid.
You all have to chill out. It's gonna take time for Goff to find his rythum.

I think at the end of the day a lot of us were looking for exactly what McVay was looking for, "consistency."

I don't think we saw it. Now, is it a fair sample size? No. We need to watch him over a number of games. I'm sure that's the way McVay feels too.

Was Goff's play this game encouraging... nope. And I think that's what some of us are frustrated with.

With a lump in my throat, I'm all in on "wait-and-see."

It wasnt the hit that caused the fumble, Bosa stripped the ball before the hit. Good play by a good player, not much Goff could do once Hav let bosa by him.
Boss slapped the ball out of his hand. I don't think there is one QB anywhere that would have held onto the ball. Hell I don't think Shaq with his huge hands would held onto the ball.

I think the difference is those other QBs have proven so much more then Goff, I think the general concern about Goff is that he looked a lot like last year and one thing that McVay has been preaching is consistency he even said in his presser after the Oakland game that he want to see him(Goff) stack back to back games together. That's the biggest issue to me, knowing which Goff you're going to get. So far the kid doesn't react very well to difficult situations he is good when receivers are running free all game but that doesn't happen often in the NFL during regular season

but my point is, the preseason is meaningless and not really game planned for. And you arent really using your whole playbook. If last year's MVP can look like trash in the preseason Im not worried about an almost 1st year QB looking bad in preseason. Personally I'll wait til the games matter and he has a whole game to redeem himself after a bad start before calling for his head. but hey, to each his own I suppose

I don't think Goff has looked bad this preseason unlike last year but the fact is he has a lot to prove to his teammates and coaches those other QBs have already done that with their track record in the regular season, Goff only track record right now is a 0-7 start to his career where he had more turnovers then touchdowns. The criticism is fair and warranted

I don't think people are aware of how fast Bosa got in. Less then 3 seconds. We are making way too big of a deal about the Chargers game. The

Thank you!

We'll cheer our asses off when Robert Quinn does what Joey did and not give a second thought.

Jared Goff fumbles, the critical police is out in full force.

It happens. Move on.

Bosa can play. His situation with San Diego looked like a disaster for a long time - but they got themselves a good one. Funny how the Chargers fans have forgiven him for holding out.

OP. You do know that we only had three starters dressed on defense, right?
And I don't like Joyner at free safety.

This was the Chargers dress rehearsal that's why they had starters out there the entire first half.

Agree that Goff took a step back but that's going to happen.
Don't forget this is his third new offense in three years if you include his college (and why wouldn't you?)

He had to basically forget everything he knew last year so he's basically a rookie playing in his third game.

Give the guy a break.
However I agree on Mannion looking good which can only be a good thing.

what is it with people?

.
Let's see, he failed to account for the NFL Rookie Defensive Player of the Year end in the Red Zone, took a sack and then fumbled the ball that went for a touchdown. Next, he overthrew one open receiver, while underthrowing another and had his pass intercepted. He also underthrew Higbee on what would have been a TD, but got bailed out on an interference call.

I guess I'm new around here and am unsure of the decorum. Is it appropriate to just slather love on players, or can we criticize as well?

Bosa is good, real good, much better than I thought he'd be. They have a keeper

Threre's plenty a QB can do. It's his responsibility to feel the pressure and take care of the ball. Remember, Bosa wasn't coming from his blind side, he was coming from his right. That fumble was inexcusable, regardless of who was on the field for either team. Sorry guys, the team will lose a lot of games if they start him, he needs more time.

First of all, when you have time go to this thread(link below) and introduce yourself.

You must not have been reading here at ROD for very long to ask that kind of question. Have you seen our "vent threads" during the season? Criticize away but if that's all there is then it won't go well for you here. We tend to lean towards the positive but there's plenty of room for counterpoint arguments.

Btw I gave you a "like" for using the word "slather." :)

So what you are saying is every time AD or Quinn get a sack or sack fumble its the QB's fault? When Brady,Rogers, Stafford, and all the other QB's in the league get sacked fumble or throw an incompletion they take a step back? Its all their fault? Haha this is hilarious you guys know there professionals on both sides of the ball right? This is the reason I can't watch a game with my dad rams should be perfect and the other team should just lay down and let them do everything right lol

Yeah, I'm saying that he shouldn't have fumbled it. Bosa was coming from his throwing side, not his blind side. It's a QB's job to anticipate pressure and at worst, take a sack, not to fumble it. Brady, Rogers or Stafford would agree.

I'm thinking you have no idea who I am. Unless you're collecting Social Security, I doubt you've been a Rams fan as long as I have. I call it as I see it, I gave three examples of why I consider him lost.

I'm thinking maybe you're one of those people that takes criticism of any Ram player personally.

I can see your point here. And yeah, maybe Goff should have sensed some pressure. But perhaps he wasn't thinking that Bosa was over there at all; or that Rob would get beat almost out of the gate. Again, I get your prospective.... maybe periferally he should have seen Bosa? I dunno if that's truly fair or not. But, I guarantee ya that he learned from it either way. Plus, who knows how much the Rams "gameplanned" for the Chargers and that defensive front? Rest assured that McVay had a convo with Goff about it (the play itself).
