By all accounts, it doesn't seem like Sam is going to start against Cincinnati, and Kellen Clemens could get the starting nod. Now. What if Clemens plays remarkably well? The odds really are against that with the injuries on the line and the lack of receivers at present. But -- what if?
Clemens was picked in the 2nd round by the Jets in 2006 and really hasn't had the opportunity to get his game going. He was the backup to Pennington in 06 and 07, then he backed up Favre, then the Jets drafted Sanchez. At Oregon he thew the most TD passes by a sophomore in school history. Then he got injured, then he got drafted, then he stayed a backup due to circumstances. It's like any number of QB's (Marc Bulger and Kurt Warner) who bounce around from team to team without really getting a real shot at anything. I wouldn't categorize this as Clemens' shot either though. He's a backup to a backup right now and probably won't be on the team next year.
But..... what if?
