It can't be a repeat of Atlanta. Truth be told the Rams played not to lose tha game offensively...and they lost!

I'm sure McVay still has a taste of that game!

The Rams need to come out sharp and get on the score board first. Mix up the play calls, move the chains and punch in the first TD. Our real struggles have come when other teams got up on us and were able to control the clock by running the ball.

Secondly, I think we can also run the ball on other teams and get back into our power running game, especially now with CJ in our running back stable. That will put pressure on the opponents if we hold the lead.

And please, no turnovers, especially not the punt return muff variety.

Here is the one problem the Rams have to deal with. During the season the Rams defense gave up 32 points per game against teams currently in the playoffs. That will not win them many games in the playoffs.
I guess you are ruling out the Chiefs then too? They gave up 36 per game

Wouldn't t be interesting if the Rams when big package with an extra O Lineman and two TEs to start the game. They can run Gurley and CJ early on to throw off the defenses. I wanted to see that all season long just to see how it would work.

The Bears would look primed for a title if it was 20 yrs ago. They're too easy to defend in todays NFL. They don't have enough on offense yet. They'll smoke the Eagles though.

Dallas will fold after they beat Seattle and then have to travel.

Chargers are my dark horse team. They're balanced and a good mix of young guys and vets. Tough road ahead though.

I picked Houston but i'm kinda liking the Colts...but i'm sticking with the Texans.

I'd be shocked if KC gets out of the AFC. Their defense makes ours look stout.

Saints will be the toughest out for anyone.

Patriots don't lose at home and once the Chiefs get bounced....the road to the AFC goes through NE.

The Rams "A" game is better than all of these playoff teams though IMO, meaning if we get the offense, defense and ST's rolling together we can't be beat.

To put this in perspective. Only one team that gave up more than 24 ppg in the regular season ever won a Super Bowl. And that was the 2011 Giants. So the Rams have a chance to make history. The average ppg differential, in scoring more points than giving up for Super Bowl winners is 10.2 ppg. Only one team has been in the negative, The 2011 Giants. The 3 teams with the smallest point differential. The 2011 Giants at -.4, the 2007 Giants at 1.4 and the 2012 Ravens at 3.4. So for the Rams to win the Super Bowl, they have their work cut out for them.

FWIW, I don't think the Saints, Chiefs or Patriots will win the Super Bowl either. Right now if I had to bet it would be the Bears.
Bears are from the weak NFC north they are only in the playoffs because no team in their division wanted to be in the playoffs. They are good at home and below average on the road, so they might beat philly but will be knocked out in the divisional round.

Ball retention, completing on 3rd downs and being on target in the Red Zone.

The Rams Red Zone work has been my bugbear all year, just not good enough in my opinion.

Weak NFC north? Really? Which division has teams picking 1 and 4 in the Draft?

Run the ball with authority!

Catch the TD pass when thrown to you !

Stop somebody on defense!

Edit:

Protect your QB !

The NFC West also has 2 teams in the playoffs. And the team picking 4th gave Chicago all they could handle just a few weeks ago.

Team picking 4th scored 32 on the Rams, that says more about the Rams then it does the Niners. They also scored more against the Bears than the Rams did.........

They probably didn't spend as much time preparing for them either. People need to stop these if/then comparisons. It's no more valid than "having momentum going into the offseason."

The Rams 2 games against SF were never in question, both games were over before halftime. No matter how you spin it the bears will not have a chance to go far in the playoffs. If they beat philly they will have to go on the road where they are far from stellar. You can hang your hat on the whiners points in garbage time against our back ups, but that has no bearing on the playoffs, unless the Rams are up big and put in their back ups in a playoff game. Did the Bears blowout anyone and rest their starters? No because all but 1 of their games came down to the very end.

Want to prevent the Atlanta game? Stuff the run.
Way to make me nervous Merlin  We can do it, just can't have all the dang missed tackles anymore.

3. ogletree whiffing on tevin coleman on 3rd and 10 on the first drive of the 3rd quarter. the rams had reclaimed momentum going into the break and were on top of the falcons. getting a 3 and out there would have kept the momentum of the game going the rams way. instead the falcons went on a td drive that lasted almost the whole quarter. rams were always playing catch up and that doesn't work when the opposition can work their way down the field running the ball 5 yards at a time.

.

That was easily the play of the game. It's when I started draining beers as well.

I wish the coach would have a Thursday night closed practice at the Coliseum. Lights on and let the guys have an extra night to survey the actual battlefield. Get used to the slippery ball and field? The cold? The lights? Maybe also have time for the guys who are sliding around or losing leverage due to the damp field adjust their cleats? Anything to try and get an advantage. That way it feels very familiar (hey, we were just here 2 nights ago). If the team is going nearly 2 weeks away from the Coliseum, then showing up the afternoon of the game, I don't think that's taking full advantage of the situation. I know, I know, a football field is a football field. With so much at stake, maybe think outside the box a bit and make sure everyone is absolutely as comfortable with their game time surroundings as possible.

This is a brilliant idea! Especially since the field is always sloppy for night games, hope coach reads your post (y)
