OBJ has already been telling people that if they thought he was good with the Rams so far just wait till they see him next year in this offense with a whole offseason of work. He wants to be back.
OBJ working out with Stafford and Kupp for a full off-season and we might be looking at another All Pro WR. But someone will be willing to pay him $16-18m per year and the Rams cannot play that game if he chooses that route.

Where it gets difficult is if you cut woods post June 1st you save 10.7 million. So that's where it gets tricky.
With these young receivers you can trade van and have one of the other 3 take his spot. Maybe trade van for a lineman. It's hard trust mean I don't want to trade van or see trees gone some tough calls will need to be made. Let's win this chip and then prepare for another crazy off-season.
We definitely need to win this game though or then everything shot to hell!
Oh really I didnt know that..does that show on Sportstrac? Or how do you see what the cap savings are for post June cuts?? Yea if that's the case it's definitely more interesting. I'm all for trading Van for a linemen if we can pull that off. I think he'll end up as a nice complementary receiver, but not a difference maker.

Anything is possible, but we know he loves the place and has wanted to be here for a while. Now he's going around telling people he'll be back so I won't rule anything out personally.

Rams players scheduled to enter free agency following this season that I wish to retain are :
1) Von Miller
2) Noteboom
3) OBj
4) At least one of Brian Allen or Austin Corbett
5) Sony Michel
Yea I like this list. Noteboom is a must sign obviously with Whit retiring. I agree we should prioritize Von over OBJ if it comes down to one of the two. And I think Brian Allen has outplayed Corbett this year. Corbett and Edwards to me have been the weak points of the line. The line has been very good overall but when someone gets beat bad its usually one of those two. I think Sony is gonezo.

Yea I forgot where but it's been talked about post June 1st but for sure this will get interesting. Let's hope when whatever happens we by that point will be the defending champs!

I agree with that list exactly probably want Corbett we would be searching for a center and a cornerback opposite Jalen.

I will say what do you really think Allen can demand or get on the open market? I don't think he will be to expensive he doesn't have that rep yet. He may be a short deal type no?

Allen's injury history may allow for a cheaper, shorter term prove-it type deal, something I've been advocating for over the last month or so. Also working against Allen is the fact that when Coleman Shelton stepped in for him, he surprised many, including me, so he may have proven enough to McVay to become a starter. At the beginning of this season we were told that Corbett would become our new starting Center, although that thought never made it past the pre-season as Bobby Evans failed at OG. The Rams could designate Shelton/Corbett #1 and #2 at Center while hopefully developing another drafted OC who would likely become a practice squad player next year. I currently see a better future (2022) outlook at Center & RG if Allen walks and Corbett remains, ... the problem with losing Corbett at RG is I haven't seen anyone who is on our roster that is capable of replacing him. As low as we are drafting, coming up with an immediate starting OG or C seems unreasonable, and quality OG's in free agency are expensive, so it's a dilemma I'll be watching closely.

Sign OBJ to a very cap friendly deal then have Stan's people meet with Ann's people and OBJ can get way over paid for a Walmart add run.
Problem solved...............What? that's ethical just ask bilicheat and Stephen Ross

They didn't trade for Michel not to re-sign him. Akers and Michel are a good combo. Akers on early downs and Michel on 3rd downs and short yardage. Henderson is too fragile. I like him but he's always hurt. Henderson has an affordable contract in 2022 and he's a FA in 2023 so I see him simply staying. With Akers, Michel, Henderson, and Funk they look set at RB.

Michel likes it in LA so if he's offered a reasonable contract I see him taking it. Also, this team will continue to be a SB contender so that is an incentive for all the FAs like Michel, OBJ, and Miller. Good team culture and a legit SB contender are strong incentives.
I was all in on keeping Michel, but the more I think of it now, and seeing how McVay is using Akers even after coming off an Achilles, I don't see him staying here. You can get a cheaper option late in the draft or a cheap vet.

Just too little cap room the go around and too many other critical needs.

My FA priorities...
1. Noteboom (must have)
2. Corbett (torn on this one, OGs easier to find, but he is solid and knows the system.
3. OBJ & Miller on cap friendly deals
4. Williams or a CB from another team

Departures...

Whit retires and clears $13M.
Trade/Cut Hekker, saves $2.5M.
Trade Rapp, saves $2.5M.
Stafford gets a new deal, lowers cap hit by $10M in 22'
Restructure Floyd, Kupp, clears another $10M
Extend Ramsey or Donald to lower cap hit next yr as well.

Could probably end up with $35M to spend to make next yr a run it back yr then pay a bit of a price in 23' in regards to cap pain.

Which still isn't a bad idea imo.
Another NFL overall CAP rise including all the TV networks & Amazon likely paying billions for Monday Night Football.

Well it is a bad idea if it was to replace Woods, as we've discussed before. It doesnt save cap room, it blows it up. Takes the WR spot to 18-20 mill in 2022 and over 20 in 2023

Yeah McVay basically requires "his guy" to be a good threat in the pass game. Michel isn't good enough catching it and converting yards underneath for him.

Which sucks. Because when Michel is in the backfield pass blocking you feel him, and he's a nasty tough guy to tackle even on the handoff from gun. That 97 yard drive guess who was in the backfield.

I still think he should install some draws for Michel. They do sort of do it with a slight delay already out of gun at times, but I'd like to see some real draws.

Where is the source on that? And I'm not asking because I'm skeptical. I'm asking because I'm really freaking excited to hear that!

I want Von, OBJ and several others back. Yes both will have x amount of games under their belts this season a full off season to start at 100%, but Snead and and McVay have to realize we just eeked into the Superbowl we need to upgrade at CB, ILB, Safety and OLine minimumly CB and interior OL. We can't get complacent TB resigned all their guys back this year and that did no good. SF is only getting better. With Brady gone and possibly Rodgers to an AFC team the NFC will be easier but we cannot sleep on upgrading other areas.

The Rams contended with near $50 mil. in dead money during our present season to get us into the Super Bowl, the comparable small fraction that Woods would cost will be easily manageable. I happen to really like Woods, but I'll go with OBj every time, and happily pick up a draft pick along the way should we trade him.

Its not saving anything by going post June 1, it merely moves 6.4 mill dead cap to 2023
